Hi Nero, thanks for your comment. The gimmicks and posters are to give the impression of live and activity in the ruins, i.e. they're part of the current frontline and not completely deserted.

Feel free to build your own tank wrecks! It's a good way to demonstrate which enemies you hate the most. Speaking of arch enemies... the tank wreck's finished:

The buildings are insanely good mate, and being both an Iron Warriors and an Imperial Fists collector I must say the wreck is beautiful (that's the beauty of playing for both teams )

The posters are a great touch and add a much needed blow of life to the building, I've got something similar planned for the CoD board I'm working om

Really nice and clean terrain. One small criticism, if I may. The ruins are too clean. Where is all the rubble? If walls have been knocked down, where did the rubble go? It just looks a little like the buildings are designed as ruins, not made into ruins by the guns of the Iron Warriors.

I must compliment your execution, though. You have great talent.

Thanks! Your criticism is of course legitimate but I left it out due to means of gaming. I really don't like to try balance my models on some slopes and eventually they topple over, though, and get damaged.

That is actually very smart, I cannot remember how often I have had a model fall over because of the fact that the entire base of the scenerey has been covered in rubble, making deplyong mini's a genuine nightmare. It might look a bit less realistic but it is so much more practical when it comes to gaming itself that it's well worth the little sacrifice one makes. Other than tha I have to say those peices look really good, looking forward to seeing more of them

Of course! That makes a lot of sense. I need to start playing the game a little more!

Did you score the lines into polystyrene tiles yourself or did you get them with the lines already done? If you did it by hand I really appreciate your dedication, because they look excellent. I also try to keep my ruins clean for gaming purposes, you may wish to make some removable pieces of rubble which can also be used for barricades or stand alone cover.

Re: "Terra Torn Asunder" theme gaming board & terrain

Hey guys, thanks for all your comments and sorry that I only answer your questions now. Okay, here we go:

    @ Dudde
Unfortunately, I'm not very motivated to build, paint or play Warhammer stuff at the moment. Guess that's due to the nice weather and some other current things.

    @ Qdeu
The lines have already been in the material, I added nothing to its structure. But if you have some without these lines etc. I'd recommend to make them with a ruler and the tip of a biro.
I might want to build some more smaller pieces for the terrain board in the future, e.g. barrels, improvised street barricades, and so on.

    @ kublai
They're not that expensive, i.e. rather affordable compared to the stuff they foist on you in model railroad shops etc. To be honest I can't really remember where I bought them, but I guess it was Bauhaus.

Re: "Terra Torn Asunder" theme gaming board & terrain

You know, I still like regular, home-made city ruins better than the Citadel terrain. More realistic and less cartoony, I guess.
These ruins are very very well done! You said it is made from footfall sound insulation board? Did the boards also come with the square "bricks" already imbedded in them, even the small ones on the inside of the ruins? If so, I have to grab me some and update my city a bit.

What I like to do with my ruins, is take some black paint and smear it along the edges of the ruins, and then kind of blend it downwards so it gives the impression that the edges of the ruins were burnt by the explosions, if that makes sense. It generally looks pretty good if you get a black that is not too opaque so some of the original wall color shows through in parts (cheapie paints like Apple Barrel colors work great for this).

Edit: Ah, nevermind. I see my question about the lines was already answered. Tsk tsk, Skaven13.

Re: "Terra Torn Asunder" theme gaming board & terrain

After nearly one year I started building some more themed terrain pieces...

A couple of days ago I asked my club mates of the Tabletopclub Ratisbona if I should build and paint some terrain pieces for themed boards for our tournaments and they all said YES! So I grabbed a thermocutter and some polystyrene plates and began cutting, working and glueing like a berserk the last two days.

    The following boards are planned:
    - 2 "Battlefield" boards (tank traps "Dragon's Teeth", trenches, craters, tank wrecks, destroyed wall sections, ...)
    - 2 "Nature" boards (forests, hills, hedges, ...)
    - 1 "Chaos" board (temples, twisted rocks, obelisks, ...)

These are the pieces I built so far. Some will get further adorned, especially the temple.
