Thanks for the feedback guys! I really appreciate it

Good colourscheme, though.
I have tried to separate the layers of the carapace with a little shadow between each. I will get some photos up tomorrow when I have good light to get some shots of it a bit better. I think it works well at the mo but I like the idea.
I will be trying some shading of the exoskeletal bits, I think a mix of bleached bone and tallarn flesh may work, I don't want anything too strong to bring the overall tone down too much.

Exoskeleton sounds nice and alien
I'll go with that till I'm corrected!

Thanks Chebba!
I've checked Phil kelly's scheme out, I hadn't come across it before. It's very striking. Can't find anywhere that says its the Jormungandr colours tho so I'm happy if I'm wrong or right. I mainly liked the idea of having an army with a good story behind it but not a mainstream hive like leviathan or behemoth so I have a good amount of wriggle room to adapt it to my schemes.
Here are the WIP's I mentioned:
Tyranid Prime

My Tyranid Prime is converted from a warrior using standard warrior bits, plasticard and greenstuff.

He is based on
THIS Tyranid Prime conversion which I adapted to my taste.

He is a good inch taller than your regular warrior and with his big boneswords he stands out nicely

This is my first conversion of any serious scale in a long time so please let me know what you think
Sky Slasher Brood

This picture gives a good idea to what I'll be aiming for. The wings are done in the thinnest plasticard I could find with greenstuff to hold them on and give them the ribs.

I still have to put the wings on the third ripper obviously. The metal rod seen in the first image is the remains of my original attempt with wire and greenstuff but the came out rather terrible! I'm fairly satisfied so far with them but they are fiddly as hell and I have a feeling pretty fragile too so I'm cautiously optimistic at this stage. They're certainly cheaper than the forgeworld alternatives and will hopefully paint up well enough to pass off ok!
Again, please comment and criticise as much as you like! I'm also happy to answer an queries if there are any... Thank you all
Jörmungandr will come out of the ocean and poison the sky
