    Re: Reaper Miniatures: Bones

    An update:

I primed and painted my dwarf last night (I'll try to get some pics up later if anyone's interested). But I had some problems with the primer/paint rubbing off - just like with metal models. I think overall Bones is still not as nice/easy to paint as plastic. Though for the price I'm more than will to accept the shortcoming.

Seems like Reaper is doing something interesting with the Bones line that we can't talk about here. Might be worth checking out their website's front page though.

It really is interesting, but not something I feel the need to support myself. At least not at this point. But they don't seem to have any trouble getting funds.
So far the optional extras are the most interesting from my point of view. I'd love to get the Fire Giants for only $10.

I think there's going to be some amazing value to be had. I also feel that this line's affordability is going to be a great way to get people into tabletop gaming and miniature painting as hobbies in the future.

I'm sure there's going to be an amazing value to be had, but the random assortment they have on offer doesn't really do it for me.
I fully agree with your second point, though, and I am looking forward to being able to pick up some of those minis at a low, low price.

So much so, they are willing to shell out large amounts of money to get them. O_o
Heheh. Jokes aside, I think the Bones range is great. I love Reaper. Their models aren't always nice, but they are good value for money, and Bones goes even further. The only problem is I have no easy access to them, as I dislike online shopping.

Very interesting...I'm considering pledging, but it will depend on how much money I have after Gencon.

I must have the gnoll and bugbear, so they need to hurry up and get back in stock on miniature heroes. Apart from relics this is the only project of late that interests me, cant wait to see the product line grow

Oooh, they are rolling out the Klockenbooty.
If that doesn't get the pledges in I don't know what will.
Tempting, but I'll have to resist. I just can't add another pile of random stuff to my existing piles of random stuff.

No offense man, but this isn't 1990 anymore. It is online or bust nowadays. Besides, this is an AWESOME deal. 93 models for $100. Lots of characters and the Orcs are 5x better than the competitors out there.

In for $145. What did you do to support cheap minis today?

They really are bringing out the big guns, first Werner Klocke now Tre Manor. Pledging 165 now, everything bar the paint and Orcpocalypse. It's rather exciting, I do wonder if people aren't pledging just to see what will be revealed next.

I think that happens with a lot of crowdfunding projects. They give the illusion of being part of something and this sense of belonging urges people to invest more, which is particularly apparent during the last few days when the pledges really go through the roof.
It's a bit strange, really. I mean, when I'm at the supermarket I don't feel a special connection to the other people standing in line, either. But I guess with crowdfunding it is easier to forget that you are just a customer.

Well I suppose it lets people feel more connected with some of their favourite (or up and coming) companies, but I agree it is a little strange. I've been buying from Reaper for sixteen years and I don't feel any more or less connected to them, or their other customers, than I did before. Still, it's nice that people can feel connected I suppose. I do look forward to seeing what the next stretch goals will be, though.

Noooooooo, stop tempting me with cheap, delicious, mini goodness!

I really don't want to sign-up to yet another Kickstarter, but they're so hard to resist.

Heh, I am loving this kickstarter. The plastic seemed a bit odd at first, but I have painted a few up now and I really like them. I went vampire level and am grabbing all the extras, except the paint sets. Might get those too before the end is out though. I really want to know what is in that big crypt.

    Re: Reaper Miniatures: Bones

If I weren't neck-deep in waiting-to-be-painted minis, I'd be all over this. Luckily for my wallet, I can barely walk into my hobby room as it is.

Lovely project, but I can't justify it at this time. Fun to watch, though *nod*

I'd love to pledge, but I've heard so many mixed or conflicting reviews of the Bones material that I'm going to have to wait and see.
