Chaos Dragon mounts? No more?

So I have been away from fantasy for quite some time, but am looking to get back in it and was attempting to put a list together (apparently khorne knights suck now), when someone told me that i can't take a dragon as a mount for my chaos lord. I don't normally do this but always loved the idea for 600+ points sunk into a model on a dragon. Just wondering if this was true or not. I noticed on the FAQ it said ignore it the rule for dragons but was hoping it was talking about something else. Thanks

I think hey don't mean that you don't have the option in the list per se, it is just that with the shift from "slots" in 6th-7th ed to percentages of your army total, the available points for Lord choices isn't enough for a chaos lord on dragon until you get up at 2500 points armies or so (don't have a chaos armybook in front of me, so I'm just ballparking the value).

Lords are allowed to be worth upto 25% of the army, the mount is included in the cost of the lord.
They just don't fit into games smaller than 2500pts (assuming you actually want some equipment on the lord!).

Also Khorne knights don't exactly suck, they're just less brutal than they used to be as you will have to grind the enemy down over a few turns of combat rather than just one.

The spot the FAQ is saying to ignore is where it says that Dragons take up an extra hero slot when taken as the mount of a lord. Every book with a dragon (except Empire) has this add on. Simply, dragons and their riders used to take up a Lord and a Hero choice (or two Heroes for High Elf Dragon Mages), and now they are simply whatever choice the rider is (usually a Lord), but since they are so expensive they hinder your ability to buy other characters.
