    Dwarf's Chaos Daemons Army Log

Hey there! Thanks for dropping in and taking a look at my Chaos Daemons army log

So let's start with a bit of back-story:

I got the idea for this army last year around June. It all started when I found an old Blue Scribes conversion that I made when the Chaos Daemons codex was released. With that model I decided to start an Chaos Daemons army and take it to the Icelandic grand tournament or ICE-GT which was in October the same year. I started painting the army and was close to the finish line, but in August i realized I couldn't go to the tournament and so I lost interest in completing the army. Now in March 2012 I decided to finish off the army once and for all! There were only few models left, plus all the bases of the models in the army. I decided to make this log to show off the final results and get some comments on what I could have done better and what people like

Every model in this army is converted, I wanted it to be one of a kind and so the only way was to convert all of the models and sculpt some of them. Because so much time went into converting the models I had to speed-paint most of the models... One thing I knew was that I wanted a lot of monstrous creatures in my army and fiends, because they are so awesome in close combat. So this is the army list I ended up with:

    HQ

    Fateweaver
    Blue Scribes
The Masque (I ended up taking this model because I had the points left and i love special characters, she is a bit cheesy but meh)

    ELITES

    5 Fiends
    5 Fiends
5 Flamers (Needed some more firepower)

    TROOPS

    9 Pink Horrors
    5 Plague Bearers
    5 Plague Bearers

    HEAVY SUPPORT

    Daemon Prince
    Daemon Prince
    Daemon Prince

So that gives me 5 monstrous creatures and 10 Fiends so I was quite happy.

Finally some pictures, I will start off by showing you the Blue Scribes conversion I did long ago and started this whole army:

Then I converted my Fiends from Seekers of Slaanesh models:

Thanks for looking and please leave a comment below!

    More to come...

I am not sure if that's a complement because they are daemons, but I guess they are cute

    Time for another update!

Just finished basing and taking pictures of my Nurgle Plague Bearers. They are made from Tau Kroots with a lot of greenstuff added and bitz chopped off. I also made them one-eyed because I thought it looked good and fitted really well with nurgle models.
When painting them I used a lot of washes and drybrushing to get a dirty look on them and also to save time. I hope you like them

So here are 5 Plague Bearers with Icon:

And here are another 5 Plague Bearers with no upgrades:

    All comments are welcome!

Nice and efficient, although, I'd stick a horn on their head if I were you.

And about the scribes, nothing wrong with a daemon being cute once in a while.

I really dig the Fiends. I've been considering the "daemonette drider" fiends, but your seeker conversions might've just changed my plans.

How hard was it to convert the saddles?

Is every model going to have one eye? Would be an interesting theme.

Thanks! I like your idea a lot and if I have the time I might experiment with greenstuffing horns on some of the Plague Bearers.

Thanks! The fiends are not that hard to convert and don't require good greenstuff skills.
You first cut and file the saddle down (there are some spiky bitz on them) and then you add a ball of greenstuff and flatten it out to make it look natural like it's just the back of the Fiend and not a saddle. Then you take some more greenstuff and sculpt hairs and spikes on their back or any other pattern you might want to do on them to make it look more natural. I did four different patterns on their back depending on the model like you can see in the photo, it wasn't really hard to do.
Now when i did my second Fiends squad and to save me some time I did cover up all of the saddles in that squad like I did the one Fiend that's in the middle of the photo (just flat greenstuff with some 'holes' and patterns in it).
    Hope that helps you!

I wasn't going for a one eyed theme for the army but now that I think about it many of the models in the army have one eye and some models even have no eyes

Anyways I converted my Masque model from the riders of the Seekers of Slaanesh box. I cut up one of the riders and greenstuffed her back together in a standing position. Then I took some more bits and made her hold a head that is supposed to be her "mask", then I just added two claw hands to her left side and gave her that crazy looking head. She was painted quite quickly and she was a lot of fun to do.

    Time for a short update!

I am finishing up my Daemon Princes now and here is one of them that's done:

They are converted from Tyranid warriors that i cut up and added a lot of greenstuff to. Then they are painted with a lot of washes and the paintjob is pretty sloppy, mainly to save time.

Looks nice but rather small for a DP. More like a herald.

    Thanks!

It's actually the same height as a GW Daemon Prince and they are pretty close to the thickness of the GW model as well. It might look a bit small in the photo but it's actually on a 60mm base so not so small

Here is a quick update, I finished these last weekend and forgot to post the pictures, so here they are:

They look pretty similar to the other one but I they were really fun to make.

@ horacus & G.Hawke: Thanks so much guys, much appreciated!!!

Small update to get this log going again. Hopefully I can finish this within 2 weeks from now...

Another Fiends squad. I decided to paint this squad blue instead of pink to make a greater contrast between the army on the battlefield. I also didn't put arms on them like the other squad and the only reason for that is because I forgot to glue them on and I didn't notice it until it was too late...

Re: Dwarf's Chaos Daemons Army Log

    UPDATE TIME!!!

Finally painted these Pink Horrors which I sculpted when I started the army. They are basically just greenstuff blobs on a stick glued to a 25mm base. I sculpted fire and an eye on the one that has Bolt of Tzeentch and The changeling has a big screaming head. The one in the back that has just an eye is the Icon bearer.

They are obviously pink being pink horrors and I decided to add a little bit of blue to make them "pop".

I had a real blast doing these guys up and the fact that I made them 100% myself and I know I will never see a squad like this one in another man's army makes it so much more satisfying

Love those horrors, far better than the ugly plastics. They actually look like they are in a constant state of change.

Thanks alot!! Yeah I tried to make them look like they are just blobs that are constantly changing form. Pretty happy with them and they were a lot of fun to do

But here is another update for you, hopefully I can finish this army shortly:

Here is my squad of flamers which are also made purely from greenstuff on a stick on a 25mm base. Really quick and easy and quite fun to make.

Now there is only Fateweaver left and he is almost finished so expect to see him shortly, comments welcome as always.

    Finally the final update!!!!

This model took the longest time to convert and also paint. It is quite big and has a lot of greenstuffed bits on it. It was soooo much fun to convert up and paint!!
The eyeball is completely sculpted from greenstuff and the mouth is a Carnifex mouth that I took apart and greenstuff on to the model in the same way as the eye ball. The concept is that he has two "heads", one to see with and one for the rest (mouth and nose). Otherwise it is just the Chaos deamon prince model from GW.
I decided to try something new when I painted the wings. They are painted black but I applied blue ink on to the wings to make them glossy and more "alive", so they kinda look like batwings.

I sure hope you like him because I put a lot of love in to this model and I am quite happy with him myself

So finally here are the pictures:

How did you paint the pink fiends/seekers? I'm planning on painting my seekers a bright pink. Nice army btw
