Thread: Klu's plog - Bretonnian, Winter Wood Elves and Random Stuff

    Hi there!

Just a quick update of the Wood Elf Spellweaver.

I've added a few more lights to the tunic because in my opinion it was a bit dark (in the pic looks shinny but it's because of the flash), now looks perfect to me. Also I painted the boots, the bracelet and the roots that cover her body.

I wasn't sure about how would look the winter scheme but looks good so far.

I suppose I'll finish it during this weekend. Just need to paint the hair, the other arm that has the staff, a few little details more and the snowy base. (I never used snow before so... let's see how I'll do it and the most important, how it will look).

    Cheers!

Sry 4 L8 r3ply! It sure looks great! Also I feel like mentioning the green slime. It looks rly good - on the base as well. Maybe especially in contrast to his purple insides.

    Thank you so much! :3

I finished the Wood Elf Spellweaver!

I'm in love with this scheme... As I said a few post before, I was really worried about how it would look but definitely this will be my scheme for my Wood Elves.

It's the first time that I use snow and I make it... but I made it properly at my first try, woohoo!

Also I changed the classic brown or green bases to a grey bluish base for give more 'winter aspect' to the miniatures.

    Do you like? Any suggestion?

    Cheers!

    Thanks to both!

    -----------------------------------------------------------

After paint the Spellweaver, now I'm working on another Wood Elf character, a Highborn! :P

    Here some pics!

Also I bought some Dryads (I'm going to use two units of 8 Dryads), but at the moment I just have a box and the first unit of 8 Dryads but anyways, I'm going to buy a Wood Elf Batallion in a future to increase the army with another unit of 8 Dryads and two units of 10 Glade guards. This is how the unit looks so far.

    More updates coming this week.

    Cheers!

It's all sounding nice; adding a Batallion would be a wise choice. The army is coming along nicely!

Also, your Wood Elf Highborn is looking really impressive. I might have to start a Wood Elf force!

Everything is very impressive, especially the smoothness of the barding on your knights. I must say though, that the color of the open wounds on the nurgle lord are so revolting that I was actually repulsed from the screen. Great job!

Thanks a lot, Lord Dan! Your comment about the repulsiveness of the open wounds sounds as a good comment when it comes to a Nurgle miniature!

(I have to say that I had the same feel while I was painting it! :P)

By the way, amazing Dark Elf plog you got there!

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is how looks the Highborn finished!

The armour and the great weapon have a slight blue wash that simulates 'magic icy effect'... or that's what I tried to make at least!

I'm going to start with the first Dryad today. I've thought on the scheme already and I hope it will look good. I'll try to upload the WIP of the Dryad tonight or tomorrow.

    Cheers!

Just a very quick update to the WIP of the Dryad (It is almost finished!).

The first scheme that I tried (I already had it planned days ago) looks really nice. I decided for a dark tones on the Driad, just with a few lights in the reliefs. The blue tones on the magic runes and eyes constrast very nice with the dark tone of the rest of the miniature. Anyways, the skeleton (that will be painted in light brown and white) and the snow gonna add more contrast.

(The dust you see in the pic, is due to the dry paint. I forgot to clean the miniature and the base with a soft brush to remove it!)

    Cheers!

The blue/cool palate you're working with on this project are fantastic. Especially with the orange sprites!

Yea, I considered the orange colour on sprites as a nice choice because they gave some different colour into a totally blue miniatures. Probably on dryads, miniatures that don't have too much blue colour, I'll use differents colours for sprites like red, green, blue, etc.
I'm trying to make a good balance between cold and warm colours, obviously keeping the cold ones above the warm ones.

    Thanks for your encouraging words!

    --------------------------------------------------

I got some updates of the Dryad finished and looks like this!

These are the best bones that I've ever done xD.

I'll let the base for the end because I have the bad habit of make more snow than I need. So for that, I prefer finish the whole unit and apply all the snow at the same time.

Oh by the way, I got a question for you guys... Hope you can lend me a hand! Which colour do you think it will work better as a colour for the leafs? Some of my dryads have leafs and I'm not sure how to paint them... I looked for images in google but all the leafs I'm seeing are for Spring, Autumn or Summer. Do you think a brownish, redish or orangish leaf can work well? Maybe green? Or how about a white bluish colour simulating the icy effect? I'm totally confused...! ._.

    Cheers!

Dryads and Highborn look fantastic. Well done on the skeleton!

For winter leaves, perhaps a light blue-green like eucalyptus leaves
Fantasy log of...Stuff: Vampire Counts, Warriors of Chaos, Southlands Ogres, Cryx plus whatever else tickles my fancy.

Re: Klu's plog - Bretonnian, Winter Wood Elves and Random Stuff

Hi guys! I'm back after a loooong time. I've been very busy and was unable to paint due to I moved into another house and also due for a little vacations that I had. Now that the house moving ended and I have new desk, a better room to paint (The room is more fresh and less hot so the paint won't dry as fast as before and I have more natural light so it's a very illuminated room, so that mean it'll be better to paint and the results will be better). Also a crystal showcase and a desk dedicated only for the miniatures work and paint are coming in September!

During this time I've been playing games of 1000 points with my Necrons just to test the new 6th edition of Warhammer 40k and yesterday I played my first Fantasy game. It was a 3000 points game with my Demons of Chaos. It was very funny because was an alliance between Ogres (1500) and my Demons of Chaos (1500) against Vampire counts (3000). In summary, a classic 2v2 battle. Also, yesterday I played a Dreadfleet game just for fun, really funny.
Apart of that, I have new stuff to show!

As you know, the new miniautres of Demons of Chaos were released on 4th August and I bought them. (In the second page of this plog you can see an advance of my Demon's stuff).

The things I bought were: Exalted Seeker Chariot of Slaanesh, 2 boxes of Flamers of Tzeentch, Screamers of Tzeentch, 2 boxes of Plaguebearers of Nurgle and Herald of Tzeentch on Disc.

    So let's put some pics!

    Screamers of Tzeentch WIP:

I painted them yesterday in the afternoon in around three hours (around one hour each). I just have to paint the horns, teeth, spikes and the bases. I'm very happy with the results.

    Flamers of Tzeentch WIP:

It's the same blue recipe from the Screamers but I'm not fully convinced of the green flames... I'll try to find more options for flames.

Exalted Seeker Chariot of Slaanesh in process of building yet:

A very hard miniature to paint together so I decided to paint it in parts. Can't wait to paint once I finish the rest of the model!

    Plaguebearers of Nurgle:

I enjoyed a lot building this unit. This unit will be increased to 94 in a future. The free spot in the right is saved for the Herald of Nurgle.

    Bloodletters of Khorne:

This unit is a pain to place the units due to the swords, spikes in the back and tongues... It took 30 minutes to place all the Bloodletters but they look nice, mostly as they are saying: "Come closer and we will crush your soul three times". The banner is amazing! And again, the free spot in the right is for the Herald of Khorne. This unit will be increased to 80 in a future.

    Herald of Tzeentch on Disc:

Some people say this miniature is ugly... I don't share the same opinion! :P. For be Finecast was a very nice detailed model, just a few bubbles in the disc easy to fix. (Note: The blu-tac in the Demon's feet it just for the photo because I'm going to paint it separate).

    Seekers of Slaanesh:

Another case of ugly miniatures that I don't share! xD. The banner is very nice, maybe I'll try some freehand on it. Apart of that, nothing more to say.

And that was all! I'm planning buy Nurglings, the Blue Escribes and maybe another special character like Epidemus or Kairos. Also I'd like to buy great Demons from Forgeworld. Keeper of Secrets has the best numbers to be the first. :P

By the way, I'm leaving from Bretonnia and Wood Elves for the moment. I'll paint what I have of these armies but I won't buy more until they got a renew. I want to focus harder on Demons at the moment.

So, you plan on expanding the plaguebearers to...94?

Yes! I know it sounds crazy but I'm planning on making a list of 3.000 points from each gods (Apart of make other lists with mixed gods, of course). And the list of Nurgle require an horde of Plaguebearers. If I use 3 heralds of Nurgle on palanquin, the number of Plaguebearers will be 94 or if I use 2 Heralds on palanquin and one Herald of nurgle with BSB the number will be 97. Anyways, I have no hurry in buy all of this... I'll add more plagueberarers little by little.

The unit will look like this depending of the number of Plaguebearers:

    a)

    b)

Apart of Plaguebearers, Epidemus and the 3 Heralds of Nurgle, this list has a Great Unclean one and 12 Nurglings.

The problem of this list is clearly... the iniciative. One Purple Sun of Xereus or Pit of Shadows and the Plaguebearers will explode like popcorns! :P. Anyways, if they don't have any wizard with Lore of Death or Shadows or I can dispell those two spells, this list is very hard to destroy. But this the funny part of Warhammer, you never expect what will happen in the battle and of course, I play just for fun! I don't care if I lose or win.

My list always will have units I like... I don't mind if they are useless or useful.

Sorry for this off-topic. I'll try to upload the Screamers finished this night or tomorrow. Today is being a hotter day than usual and I feel very lazy to paint! ._.

Ps: The others lists based in only one god are in progress. At the moment, I'll plaint what I have (I remember say this phrase always and I end buying more!) and we will see what we do with the lists.

Re: Klu's plog - Bretonnian, Winter Wood Elves and Random Stuff

Uploads for the plog update! Pics for the warseer members! Errrr... ok... ._.

Leaving apart that wannabe Khorne moment fail... I got pics from the finished Screamers of Tzeentch! :P. Well, they are not quite finished because the base is not done yet but tomorrow I'm going to buy thermoplastic adhesive sticks for my glue gun to decorate the base with little slate pieces (Since I'm very excited with Demons I want give them a decent base :P). As soon as they are done, I'll show you the unit totally finished!

If you compare this pic with the other WIP of Screamers may you see this pic is a bit darker... really it isn't. This is the real colour they have, the other pic has a bright blue due to the light close distance, excuses for that.

    Hope you like them.

    Cheers!
