No. The Wave Serpent isn't part of their unit, so it doesn't confer. In addition, as Tankhunters is coming from an Exarch power it wouldn't confer even if the Wave Serpent was part of the unit (which it's not) because Exarch Powers are only conferred to the appropriate Aspect Warriors and Autarchs.

Point him to the BRB, page 92 Multiple Unit Choices
"Do you use the number on the bottom of the die to determine your rolls? Because the book doesn't discuss that the top is the correct side to read, either. Some things are just THAT obvious."

The only exception is the scout/outflank, which specifically gives a dedicated transport this ability if the unit has it. Thus, a scorpion wave serpant can outflank (but not infiltrate).

all other special rules do not confer.

As above - they're not the same unit so skills don't transfer except in some clearly stated cases. Scout/Outflank and dedicated transports, as I recall...

Ofc, if he's willing to stick to all restrictions for units I'd be willing to let your mate play like he wants. Moving at the speed of the slowest model will make that serpent next to useless, and having to shoot the same target is a bit of a waste too.

This is where "show me the rule where a dedicated transport is part of the unit and show me the power rule that conveys said power to the transport" comes in. He has to show you the rules -- not just say what they are and you have to disprove them.

He won't be able to embark either, as you can't embark only part of a unit and I'd pay good money to see him embark a Wave Serpent in itself.

And the Fire Dragons being unable to move if the transport is immobilized could crimp his style a bit too. ;-)

That is, if the Dedicated Transport was actually part of the unit that bought it... but it's only in the same FOC slot.

nononon, if the transport is part of the unit, then Immobilized=destroyed... let's see how he likes that consequence *grin*
