Pit of Shades and Rune Maw

Basically can Rune Maw on a successful 2+ 'redirect' Pit of Shades on to another unit? ( Not redirect but make the caster choose another target)

Pit of Shades is a direct damage template spell.

FAQ says,


Q: Do ranged direct damage spells that use a template have to
target an enemy unit? (p31)
A: Yes, the template must be placed over the target enemy unit

For some reason I was under the impression that Rune Maw wouldn't work against PoS but it looks like it should since you have to declare a target.

P.S. For those that don't know Rune Maw requires that you specify the unit with it as the target otherwise it is unaffected.

If you place the template so that it touches a unit then you are targeting it. Just because you can place a template over multiple units it does not mean that none of them are targeted.

If the Rune Maw kicks in then the casting player must place the template somewhere else so that it does not touch the unit.

If the template scatters on-to the unit with the Rune Maw then the banner provides no further help. What you target and what you hit are not always the same thing.
