Holy crap. I was thinking this thing was a bit smaller than a dread. IT'S FREAKING HUGE. For some reason I was thinking they modeled it on the 40 mm base like a termi or something. But then you realize that small base is actually a dread base.

I think the reason the nurgle upgrade is so good is because what else can you do but make the thing tough?
Rerolling your 5+ invulnerable save and your getting up or not roll is pretty good but remember a 1 takes you out the game anyway so a reroll has that edge to it too.
I think most people will conveniently forget that a 6 - explodes result takes it out of the game no matter what.
Oh, a Warlord... with Warhound legs... in small... and Chaos.![]()
Sweet zombie jebus!!!
Was in my local GW when the manager came over and pointed at the in store somputer and told me to just look at it. I was going to use my hobby budget for april on a case for my skaven but i guess that idea is out now.
Mind you....if they are going to take my money, thank goodness its for stuff like this![]()

Frontarmour 12 and sidearmour 11 for such a huge and expensive walker, especialy if we actualy wish to walk into cc, suck badly.
Pseudo fnp and daemonic posession help a bit but the later makes it realy terrible against other walkers, like dreads.
I honestly do not see how to use this thing effectively. For anti tank work the BS is meh and the weapon options raise the price to an unaceptable level.
Butcher cannons for a pseudo rifleman might be an option but once again, BS 3 makes this rather unreliable for it's high cost.
For CC it lacks armour ( lol 11 sidearmour ) WS, I, speed ( no fleet, no thanks ) and sufficient attacks to be truly impressive against anything at all ( 2,5 hits on average isn't that hot for 155 points base ).
Ah well, at least the model looks nice but the rules realy need an overhaul. Frontarmour 13 and 12 sidearmour at the minimum. Either the base cost needs to be reduced or the extra weapons have to become cheaper.
Hi to all, Very very long time reader, 1st time poster. Let me tell you im a long time gamer and a long time collecter of Chaos but stop playing and stopped collecting after the last Chaos codex.
Anywho, i can't agree with KingDeath more, this DE is rather pathetic imo, the only viable option is to take the Nurgle option and sit at the back of the field and shoot, any thing else is gimping your self. Armour 12/11/11 is rediculous at best, WS, BS and I are to low ( Where the incentive to use this for Khorne ). This is big model that is going to be hard to put into position for a cover save or to put behind cover so it cannot be shot ( Just like the Defiler ) and in today's army list's this thing will be blowin to shreads by turn 2 if it has any mark other than Nurgle. Also it is Str 8, wtf?! This wouldnt be so bad if it had re-rolls to hit instead of to wound. I dont see any reason why you would take a CC variant, firstly because it will not make it across the field before it dies, secondly it will hit last most of the time if it can hit anything at all in the 1st place, it will have a hard time against any other walker in the game and it will be near impossible to kill any thing with armour 14.
I love the model but the rules are horrible for anyone that does not take the Nurgle upgrade.
I like the direction of the new chaos weapons, I hope we will see more unique weapons in the codex, as for this model im sort of on the fence about it, I really like the rules. Agian chaos gets ignore table results in lue of a decent armor value mixed with the fact unholy vigor is close to being useless. You can only attempt to get back up if its is destroyed wrecked. Ill say tho I would take it every day over a chaos dread's random action roll.

I'm not a fan of this model or the Contemptor for my traitors, but it would fit perfectly in a Lost and the Damned list. If there's any form of rules for mutants and traitor guard, I wouldn't hesitate to own at least 2.
"When dealing with the forces of Slaanesh, the term "Spray and Pray" takes on an entirely different meaning." - Inquisitor Kalif Rosetta.
I totaly agree with the direction of the new choas shooting weapons, i think they are spot on. How ever i think i would take a khorne dread with 2 claws over this any day for CC.
Back to the rumour side of things, is this rumoured to be in the new chaos codex or will this just be for FW's IA series? If this is in the new upcoming chaos codex i really hope they improve the rule's for this lovely model and give it the rules it deserves.
Really cool! Love that it has a weapon called a 'Butcher Cannon'. I love the god upgrades too.
Whereas Nurgle seems like a good all around choice, you can take one of the other gods to really turn it into a melee, or shooty specific machine.
I'm getting one and dedicating it to Nurgle and calling it Optimus Slime

Thanks for the post, Latro!
I like the special rules they've given for the Decimator and the siege claws. The rerolls for wounding and the 2d6 make up somewhat for the lower strength of the model, but I still wish they had given it a higher strength (even if they raised the point cost a little) so that it would have a chance to penetrate Land Raiders and the like.
The bit about inflicting hits on passengers if you get a penetrating hit is very nice (especially if you have a Mark of Tzeentch on it).
S8+2D6 averages 15 Armor penetration, these hings will tear land raiders up no problem...I like the special rules they've given for the Decimator and the siege claws. I like what they did with the model and the rules (though I'd like the strength 1 higher for the chance to penetrate a Land Raider).
I do think, though, that FW would do well to offer alternative heads to use for different Chaos factions (or if you just want a different head than the standard one).
Alot of ya'll are assuming it used in a CSM army, remember it can be part of a daemons army and DS in with those flamersplus they are elites...
So now you could do a daemons army with Greater daemons as HQ, These dudes in elites and daemon princes/Soul grinders in heavy
So thats 2 Mons creatures and 6 walker daemon engines
You could do the same with CSM i guess, 3 of these guys, 3 defilers and 2 daemon princes but they'd be slogging it e.g.
Winged nurgle prince 150
Winged nurgle prince 150
Defiler 2x ccw, BC 150
Defiler 2x ccw, BC 150
Defiler 2x ccw, BC 150
Nurgle Decimator 170
Nurgle Decimator 170
Nurgle Decimator 170
5 Plague marines 115
5 Plague marines 115
1490pts
probably wont win games but sounds soooo much fun, plague stoooommp

Really, looks like the only effective way to run the Decimator is as a "Butcherman". Even so, 195pts for BS3 shooting is still a little iffy.
That said, with 8 shots it can still put out a lot of damage. It's better than Obliterators at popping Rhino equivalents, and still not bad against AV12 either. Statistically, it's better than Psyfleman Dreadnoughts and has the potential for more hits as well. It also provide valuable anti-tank for Daemon armies, so that's another option to consider.
It's just a shame that there aren't really any other uses for this otherwise nice model.
Edit: didn't notice the "either" wording on the weapon upgrades. There goes that idea...

Another problem is the cost, yeah it's not overpriced, but that we have we don't have a critical shortage of units for that price, and in elites as well, though nice.
Am hoping we see a lot more like this, both this size and smaller, particually in the fast attack, 50-100pts catergoary, perhaps some kind of chaotic land speeder varient of some kind of warped jetbikes? Or thinking a bit bigger, the old Tzeentch epic flyerscan never have too much Tzeentch.
