It looks good.
Just wondering where the chaotic part of the daemon engine is?
I'd rather seen something more "out there" then another walker.

Chaos and an ABC robot meshed together? I love it, will have to buy this beauty.
My take on it is: Nice but not essential.
Armour - 12/11/11. Immune to almost all small arms fire even from behind. It's got a huge frontage so side armour shouldn't be a major problem and in combat it's all 12.
Standard weapon. Good for light vehicles, buildings (AV12) and dropping low I MCs (reroll wounds). 2 Heavy flamers will make lots of wounds on the way in which should thin down the return attacks.
Alternate weapons. Butcher = good, storm = ok, petard I just can't see the point.
Marks. Khorne - maybe, Slanesh - at least you're attacking before the thunderterms and they won't get any charging bonus, Tzeentch - pointless unless you're full shooty. But it's irrelevant when Nurgle is so AWSOME!
So you've killed me? No you haven't!
The close combat armour penetration is 2d6 pick the highest so you'll only glance AV14, but those flamers will be golden once you can get to the squishy stuff inside.
yea if you can get there those chimera veterans are gonna have a really bad day, how many times has your DP or defiler managed to pop a chimera then get meltatotheface next turn.. hehe now they'll all be dead (or mashed up real good).

Both S8, AP4.
Psyrifleman, 4 shots at BS4- TL = 3.555 hits on average, max of 4
Chaos thingy, 8 shots at BS3 = 4 hits on average, max of 8
Both mainly ignore shaken/stunned, psyriflemen has a tad more range, Daemon engine gets an extra save against weapon destroyed...
EDIT: Latro. Yup. That's where their friend Mr Vendetta gunner comes in.....

Occasionally accused of being helpful and constructive.
OneringBook to rule them all, oneringplace to find them, OneringCodex to bring them all, and in theDarknessfuture bind them. Time for the unified Marine Codex.
I didnt really look at the guns or the fact you could dual wield
you could have 3 with dual soul petards and 3 defilers... 9 pie plates'o'fun![]()

I'll agree this thing looks awsome. It's a good solid model with good solid rules. Too bad it won't be in the Chaos Codex. The best 2 options I think would be Tzeentch shooty or Nurgle assualt\shoot.
This thing is still STR 8 even with 2 guns, just -2 attacks. Pretty sweet.
Side Armor 11, kinda blows but I think they were going for more offense at the cost of some defense. I guess it works.
finally, something worthy. Most, if not all chaos dreads I have found rather meh, even the FW ones. This is beautiful, and I will definitely be acquiring one in the near future.
Been setting money aside for the Chaos Codex release so this is definately something worthy to add to my exsisting army! I wonder if they will release cult specific models eventually with some different head options.
The God Emperor was an atheist.
Looks decent enough and I may get one as a display piece.
See I try to downsize my collection due to now having the time to play anymore and they go and release something like this? Its like trying to leave the mafia: "Go on Manni just one more model then you're out".
FW showing their preference for Nurgle stuff again so Nurgle will be the way to go with this thing. Khorne weak of course but you still have the blood slaughterers to satisfy your Khornate urges (and its weapon skill 5 with 3+d3 S10 attacks and fleet so no complaining)
Its better than paying for a dread that can shoot your own team.

I'm tempted to get one to use in a Daemon army. My only question is if it is the size o a Dreadknight, why still put it on a 60mm base? It looks like it would fit better on a large oval. Especially for people running Tzeentch/Thousand Sons lists with the GK codex- this would be a perfect standin for the Dreadknight.
I can see the Defiler getting upgraded to a Butcher cannon in the next CSM codex. Maybe Predators too.
Anyone else notice how it fits in with the Blood Slaughterer with the chained up drum on the back?

I think some of its in the details. The musculature running up the back of the legs is probably intended to be painted as, well, muscles. Flesh bits ripped/grown mutated from a living body then tied into the Engine chassis. Its just not particularly apparent on the unpainted version.
Nice shark, pretty shark.
Wow I'm liking the look of that, will definitely be getting one when I get round to starting chaos.
Hey, just remember to those of yall complaining that the thing "only" re-rolls wounds- the original experimental rules for the Eldar Wraithseer had it re-rolling wounds... when it was S10...; but, then they changed it to re-rolls to hit once the official rules hit.

That's a truly beautiful walker, I'd say its one of the best in the GW/FW range.
Model looks awesome, and the rules are good with some interesting new weapon types... particularly like the claws inflicting flamer hits on vehicle and building occupants. If this is a hint at the direction GW may move in with the next Chaos Space Marine book, there are some very cool things to come.
Loving the Daemon engine. Stunning model.
Im just wondering if FW have seen the number of upright Defiler conversions and thought now theres an opportunity.
I'm really fond of this and finally FW releasing something not pre-heresy and not imperial![]()
