That's one of the problems with this style of ending, you really can't add anything to it without undermining it. It's supposed to be all about the uncertainty, after all. Christopher Nolan, for example, has said that he had to believe in his mind that Inception ended one way or another, and then work backwards to add uncertainty. He'll never tell anyone what the real ending is though; that ruins the fun

When done right it is good, but inception was just a few hundred minutes of someones life, while mass effect was potentially a few hundred hours, As a semi interactive storyline people want a more satisfying ending...

Though in this case people can choose not to download the EC if they feel it will ruin their ending, and for people who thought it was O.K. with some flaws, more can't hurt either...

There's also the rather important detail that for the vast majority of those 100+ hours, Mass Effect wasn't a "mess with your mind" kind of game.

-Any more hints that the ending wasn't to be taken literally. If that includes Garrus or someone else stepping up to take charge of the situation, that would be cool too. Would really complete the arc of your most faithful and reliable ally. Showing what really happens with Harbinger and the Illusive Man would be necessary if this pans out. Those villains need to be taken care of.
iirc, Bioware has stated that the ending is the ending, and there will be no further playable material subsequent to what we saw. We'll get something that's more explanatory
but based on Bioware's comments, we're not going to have a "party member comes and saves the day afterwards" style event, or anything like unto it.

-What happens to Omega. You spend an awful lot of ME2 there and you get no resolution whatsoever regarding Aria.
One of the rumors is that there will be an "Aria takes back Omega" DLC. Given the attention that Aria has received, I strongly suspect that there will be more Aria content. But it might just end up as another graphic novel instead of something playable.

It's just that Mass Effect was a "consequences from your actions"-thing.

Sure, some stuff plays out differently depending on what you did before, but ultimately it's all for nought.

We werent supposed to get an "choose A, B or C"-ending, but that's exactly what we got. There would be no "Reaper Off-switch". There was.

If you saved the Rachni Queen in ME1, an encounter in ME2 hinted at something magnificient to come. It ended in a sizzle.

And where are all these war assets you're gathering? Do they even matter? (Answer: No.) (Agreed that BSN is a cesspool of negativity, but there are some real gems there).

Kai Leng was absolutely terrible. In 3 playthroughs he must have landed a grand total of 3 hits on me (2 on the first, none during the Insanity run), yet walks away every time (plot armour).

In the closing stages, where you're waiting to fire the missile battery, the Reaper is sending his deathray down the street a couple of times (didn't notice until I got vapourized once). Why does he not shoot the missile battery that failed to hit him the first time around?

Edit: there's much more, but I don't want to add to the negativity no more. If you enjoyed it for what it was, that's fine by me. Don't let me spoil it for you.

    ...

I went from "good game but terrible ending" to bitter vet (10+ playthoughs on both ME1 and ME2) in short order, and I apologize.

I finished my first playthrough today, and I wasn't even really dissapointed with the ending....it had a realistic war film feel to it, bittersweet ending, making it an "everyone lives happily ever after like nothing happened" ending would have probably been more dissapointing to most of us.

I absolutely loved having Buzz Aldrin in the game, that was a very nice touch. However the very end screen pissed me off.....trying to sell DLC in that way was pathetic even by EA standards.....
    It's not pronounced "ass-tarts" silly

Especially since to my knowledge, there still isn't any actual DLC to purchase, six months down the line - if they had it all lined up, ready to go in the weeks after release, it would have been understandable, but it was just needlessly antagonistic. People who were only going to play through it once aren't likely to notice or care when the DLC was released, however much later it appears. And the ones who aren't just playing it once are likely to be invested enough to know the unscrupulous bastards will try to milk more money out of it with DLC anyway

Keep it cool man, he is entitled to like it, just like people are entitled to hate it. He might even enjoy the EC anyway. I would post my usual arguments, but that's what I have been doing since march, you can't convince everyone.

Watch this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uK8vo...feature=topics it will cheer you up

    http://blog.bioware.com/2012/06/22/m...xtended-cut-2/

The Extended Cut is due out on the 26th of June in NA and the 4th of July everywhere else.
I am currently looking to shift a sizeable amount of Chaos Space Marine models, including Dark Vengeance Cultists/Chosen/Helbrute/Lord, Fantasy Chaos Knights, a Dark Apostle, Fantasy (Finecast) Chaos Lord, Warp Talons, Possessed and painted models with Forge World parts. Send me a message if you're interested!

    Finally.

Hopefully it will improve the ending...

Also, according to the link the PC and 360 releases on the 26th aren't restricted by region. Only PS3 players outside of North America have the late release date.

According to biowares community manager the EC will not confirm on deny the Indoctrination theory, which I take to mean that its very unlikely its true, but if you still hate what you see feel free to believe its still a dream, at first I thought it meant that they would still leave it vague but I don't really think that now. I am not really bothered, as long as the "reality" is good,

I'm off for Pearl Jam in Amsterdam in a few minutes, so I'm not going to watch YT now.

Better still, I'll wait for the vids from MrBTongue and smudboy for great hilarity.

After playing through I would personally say save yourself 1-3 hours and watch them on youtube, then again I can understand if I can't dissuade you, so go ahead!

Personally I think the EC would have worked as the original endings, the backlash may have been smaller then, there would have been less room for all the theories ect, but at this stage I don't think its enough to make me like the game again.

I like the Extended Cut quite a lot, actually. Then again, I didn't rail against the ending like some people I know.
