New BB player: help needed!

ey there guys! Im hopefully going to be playing my first ever game of Blood Bowl tonight and I was hoping some people could offer advice/tactics. Also, my gaming club is starting up a league in the next couple of weeks so I enthusiastically picked up a human team off ebay. It had:

8 linebackers
2 Blitzers
2 Throwers
3 Catchers

What do you think about it at the moment? Who should be my starting 11? I've already been told I should think about getting another 2 Blitzers and an ogre any thoughts? As a complete newbie I appreciate any help you can give me!

Yeah sure, get two more blitzers, they have the block skill wich is both off and def (probably the best skill in the game), and in a league they can get very nice strength skills (guard, mighty blow) a lot easier than your other players. The ogre is useful too, the key is avoiding playing it too much (to avoid bone head rolls), just put it where it can annoy your opponent.

Quickly a possible starting team :

1 ogre
3 blitzers
2 catchers
1 thrower
4 linemen
3 rerolls

Keep the 30k you've got left to buy an apothecary asap then the fourth blitzer...

1 apothecary
6 fan factor

No need for the fan factor since the latest rulebook, it doesnt affect you're winnings anymore just kick off results.

60k's a waste to get a slight bonus on a kick off result.

In fact it does affect your earnings if You get the FAME (an extra10k), but you need to get this FAME 7 times so that your 60k investment becomes worth it... So spend the money elsewhere or save it.

I agree with Garion's roster except I'd always take a thrower over a catcher as they are great value players whilst human catchers are overpriced. Catchers are reasonably useful at low TV with the extra MA and dodge but they tend to be targeted and not last long. They do allow you to play ball and give a much needed speed boost when facing bashy teams too but I'd suggest only taking 2 at most since you will either waste TV or be at a huge ST disadvantage.

On thing to note is that 4 Blitzers are an absolute must for humans as they are your best players.

Coach's site and TFF are the best places to go for a new player to get good advice. The warseer BB forum is very hit and miss when it comes to tactics.
