    Projectlogarium

Hi, my name is Pilgrimski, and... and... I'm a wargamer.

I play all sorts of different systems and my collection of models runs from Necromunda through the Warhammers to one off conversions for Dungeons & Dragons. This log will be a collection of my current projects as a way of sharing, asking for input and hopefully inspiring some ideas in anyone who stops by.

I'll save this post for a contents page, my hobby progress tends to be fairly sporadic and heavily depends on what seems like fun when I get free time. It could be converted greatswords one day and a kitbashed Vulture the next. However things turn out, this should be interesting.

If there is anything which anyone finds particularly interesting then ask away. I have enough photos to do a tutorial on most of my stuff.

Two of my biggest WiPs recently have been my resin-cast Bloodbowl board (http://www.warseer.com/forums/showth...ing-Hirst-Arts) and my Vendetta conversions.

    and

    Other current projects are:

    Bobba Fett from Knight Models

And a War Altar for my Empire army:

This project is one that I have actually completed!

I'm lucky enough to occasionally play Dungeons & Dragons with a great group, including several talented artists.

You can check out some of their work at Widdershins and Curia Regis.

Since my life-drawing skills are limited to stickmen I made miniatures for the gaming sessions instead.

This is one character, Addie, as drawn by her player:

The pair of models (from Freebooter Miniatures) that we settled on as parts.

I did a smple, but slightly dellicate headswap with greenstuff texturing to fill in the gaps and complete the hair:

Then I colourmatched the picture, using the Reaper paint matcher and painted it up:

I'm quite proud of this one, it's the first time I have ever done a 'comission' type of work, where I am working to someone elses vision. I used blending on the cape, this was the first time I tried that. Someday I'll have to make the other model of the pair, a creepy syringe wielding masked nurse

    Re: Projectlogarium

This is another D&D miniature, 'Inigo-bot' a warforged character.

I took a Cygnar Gallant warjack and trimmed off some of the steam stack bits and reposed the model.

I used liquid greenstuff to smooth over the surfaces and reposed the model. I'm not particularly impressed with the Privater Press 'plastic' it's hard and brittle and not very good for conversions, especially when you are used to the ease of GW kitbashes and good polystyrene cement. I used a lot of pinning and reinforcement to get the pose. The idea is that he's activating the glyph on his base. Plenty of inspiration from Full Metal Alchemist!

    Re: Projectlogarium

These guys are well on their way, I've been using them in a recent Necromunda campaign as Delaques. They need some more shading and highlighting, but I'm pretty pleased with how they are progressing. There is lots of inspiration from Syndicate and the Trans Metropolitan comics.

Most of the models are from Heresy Miniatures with a few GW bits and classic Necromunda models.

These are three of my favourites, including a conversion for the big guy. That's a crew served cannon he is hoisting

And here is a group shot of most of the gang. There are a few others left to do.

New project! Some friends are getting into Warmachine and I have wanted to play for a while, plus... cool models

Group shot, and also another couple of models for the gangers.

After a good search, I settled on these as the bases for my Mercenary army:

    Bases are from Fantascape

I know it's not your work, but that friend of yours sure knows how to draw!! Very pretty style, and very good to work with when modeling.
Love the gangers by the way. Good job on those.

I am interested to see that War Altar finished.

    Re: Projectlogarium

Thanks for stopping by and for the kind words. I've currently gotten distracted by Warmachine, so I'm going to ride that wave while it holds my interest. I'll get back to the war alter in time!

One of the reasons I like the Fantascape bases is that they come with a painting tutorial so I have an opportunity to learn whilst I use them. Using: http://www.facebook.com/note.php?not...56765551018582 as a guide, and with substitutions for colours that I actually had, I ended up with a test piece that I am pretty pleased with. It needs some flock/leaves/grass and I think I will go with a different soil colour, but I'm now ready for mass production. Happily, that's only 30 or so bases, so I should be able to focus for the duration.

    Bases!

I'm quite proud of those I'll have to work hard to make the quality of the figures to put on them as good.

Will probably try that, before adding finishing touches like some water effects, flock and leaves.

The things I do add will be used to make the idential bases look unique.

Almost finished with the base colour blocks. My biggest problem is brush control, I have really steady hands, but I always end up going over the edges of areas several times to touch up. Too much paint on the brush, tip not going where I expect and so on. Even the tiniest (GW Fine Detail) brushes seem too big, perhaps I need to dab instead of stroke more or something. I think only practice makes perfect. Using a grey undercoat helps, since I can actually see where the edges I want to paint inside are, I find it much harder over black.

I'm going for darker than standard blue, with almost black hats and trim. The frogging, epaulettes etc. are going to be red-gold.

    Re: Projectlogarium

I've been working on these some more, blocked in the colours (mostly staying in side the lines!) and washed coat and hat.

Next I need to tidy up the blue and do some highlights. but first I think I'll drill some pins and see about getting them based on paintpots.

    Re: Projectlogarium

I've been working on a pair of warjacks, some time ago I made some scenery with resin cast pipes and textured spray paint.
I wanted to use the same texture on the 'jacks to bring out their rough character.

I masked the detailed and smooth bits with tape and tack and here's the result. I hope that once it is painted the texture will show through as an interesting effect.

Really liking your Blood Bowl-pitch, well done!

The Pipe scenery looks great! Is it Hirst Arts-pipe moulds? Been thinking of getting those to augment some of the local clubs Necromunda and 40k-terrain.

    Thanks

The pipes are Hirst Arts, that's a combination of the big and small pipe moulds. You also get some ends which you can combine with some wooden rods and textured spray to make long pipes, a couple together would make for great walkways.

I made some progress on the 'jacks:

I like how the red head adds a bit of spot colour, thinking about a few more spot patches, perhaps on the shoulders.

Haven't washed or shaded yet, most of the black is going to be steel-ish colour.

    Re: Projectlogarium

Continued with progress on the warjacks, done base highlights on one and washes on both. Decided to go for tin-bitz instead of gleaming steel.

I also thought about changing the colour scheme on the gun mages to tie them into the scheme by using a mustardy yellow as trim on their cloaks. Not the hat though, I think that is too much.

    Re: Projectlogarium

Made some more progress, I'm prety pleased with how these guys have come out. Especially with the red for their heads, that was unexpected, I've always struggled to paint red.

There's a close up of the sword, I tried to make use of the new glazes to give this a blue-steel look.

You can reallly see the texture effect on the close up shots, that worked out pretty much how I hoped <pleased with myself>

Still need to do weathering on the stack and paint the bases like the ones earlier in the thread (if I can remember how!)

    Re: Projectlogarium

    Pretty much finished!

Still need to do a little bit more on the base, some flock and so on.

Also need to do some weathering on the stack. That's something completely new to me, so it might need a few tries.

    Re: Projectlogarium

big fan of the textured models there. I honestly would not have dared to do something like that because I would be afraid to spoil the model, but I love the effect you've created with them. Moar!
