I think you have found a total new spirit for Father Nurgle's appearance - pointy and evil, and scary as heck. Your converting skills are beyond my understanding, it really takes artistic eye to get independent plastic/metal parts match that good.

++UPDATE++
So I had some discussions with my good friend Cassarus the other day and we started to talk about what I was going to use as gnoblars. He had insisted on hobgoblins for some time now and I have been quite anti that idea... until I tried this:
LOTR mordor orc + gnoblar head + assorted bitz and a chunk of grey stuff =
The pic is a bit dark and I think that the skin color came out a bit to dark. But this was only a test, future hobgoblins will be more greyish/red and brighter. I posed it with the finished ogres to give a sense of how it fits with the theme. Don't worry about the base of the hobgoblin as it is not finished yet.
Now comes the crucial question, do they fit the nurgle army? I think they do as they are a greenskin (ish) just like the gnoblars (which makes it more clear what this army 'counts as'). By using a LOTR mini as a base it looks somewhat different and I kind of like that, the proportions looks a lot better and I think I managed to incorporate enough of the general warhammer fantasy feel to the mini. Future plans for hobgoblins is more chaos insignias shown but I want to keep the scavenger feel as well so this will be kind of hard.
If I go with hobgoblins I could add sneaky gits as trappers (which would be awesome!) and I would probably add some hobhounds as fillers to my hobgoblins regiment.
I'm not a 100% sure yet on the hobgoblin so I'm making 3 more and when the 4 are done I will make my final judgment. But until they are done I want your opinion on them:
do they fit the theme?
should I base them on other minis?
Cheers and thanks for looking

First of let me thank each and everyone for these warming comments. I have received such a warm welcome and I truly hope that I can give something back, in the form of inspiration or love for the hobby!
Avalanche: Thank you and nice that you remember that old logI think I always will make something nurgley, I just can't stop so why fight it?
Griffonclaw: I'm flattered, thank you kind sir!
Harry: Thanks mate I love your log and your shear persistence in painting tons of minis really kicks my *** into gearlove your stuff so my hat is off as well
Darkritual:Thanks, they are on standard ogre bases, these minis are based on the old golgfag minis which are about the height of current ogres but they are less bulky which makes the bases appear bigger.
Elfboy: Thanks mate, I have started to have a big box of bitz which I constantly add stuff which I think could fit the army so end up with a nice mix of all kinds of bitz, I guess I start to have a hard time to distinguish the different sources now XD
Nkari: Yeah I agree that the bases are OTT and I might downplay the stuff on the bases later on but for now it will stay, the army didn't start out as a army but only as a display piece of one ogre - and that is why the bases are so tall and so OTT, when I do other units I will make sure to add less stuff to the bases.
VenomBlood: Wow thanks man, JRN is a big inspiration to me, I love his style and I'm flattered by those words.
Tancrede:Thanks mate I'm glad you like them, I have always admired your log and style so I'm very pleased that you like them.
Cheers, and thanks for the kind words of encouragement folks - I'm going full steam ahead with these and await updates in the coming week!

Genius!
I would of never thought of using Mordor orcs as a basis for Hobgoblins!
Can't wait to see the other test models, or in fact anything!![]()
I doubt greenskins could even fit with proper chaos stuff. Using just Carnival of Chaos cultists ( actual non converted models) as Gnoblars could be banal. In your case test Hobgoblin looks like Carnival of Chaos interpretation straight from Lost and The Damned book, not recent Mordheim miniatures. I think that it's due to hobgoblin's hat - it looks quite synonymous with mordheimish carnival minis while the rest of mini is a classic LoTD feel. I don't know how to be with gnoblarish nose, but the hobgoblin style hat should stay cause it links to old school-ish carnival of chaos atmosphere.
It's great to see some more of your Nurgle stuff again! I really love those Ogres, the standard especially! Great conversions and characterful painting! Love the Hobgoblin too. A really cool conversion idea, and well executed. Looking forward to seeing some more of these!
And don't worry about not being Nurgly enough. I think it works brilliantly!
Cheers,

Just a question, how did you made the rocks in the ogres bases? Looks like slate but it's another kind of stuff... I'm searching for such a thing for my own projects. Thanks in advance!
This is the war-ravaged world of Warhammer, and there's only WAR!... and hammers.
Excellent conversions. I also really like the style you have painted them in.

Good to see your work around here again, it's simply wonderful in Nurgles kind of way.
I like the hobgob, not sure if it really fits the theme but then Nurgle is basically plague bearers and nurglings which don't fit the ogre theme.
So I would stick with the Hobgob since it looks cool!!
What else do you have planned?
keep it up,
cheers

Well I have had a creative few days and here's some more of the hobgoblins:

I'm really happy how they turned out (bar a few details), but I think that I'm settled on this idea. I tried some different approaches on the skin, I tried both the classic green - but I thought that it looked weird with my ogres, I tried a more orange look - but that looked to cartoony - So in the end I went for this semi skin/red colored theme which I think makes them look more fitting in the overall theme. For some reason I have this mental picture of hobgoblins being red so I guess that's why they look like this. I feel like converting a hundred of these fellows but I will have to resist the urge to buy them and wait until my economy allows such spending.
I have also made quite some progress on the tuba player and he is almost done, pics will come when I have finished the last details and the base but it will probably be after the weekend.
Real life is starting to call for my attention for the coming two weeks so we shall see how much time I have to build on this army.. .but I think that I will have a hard time not to![]()

Very good conversions for your hobgobelins ! Consider the idea stolen for future projects...
And the painting is really good too (as usual with you). I like the colors, and the realisation is perfect.
