what an incredible concept, really cool army loving the conversions and the painting, in particular i really like the gnoblars![]()
Fantastic conversions, sculpting and painting! As usual :-)
I agree that the troll doesn't look very nurglish. It is an excellent sculpt in its own right, and to be honest, I think you should leave it be, and perhaps sculpt a new troll with more distinct nurgle features. Perhaps not very encouraging, but maybe tinkering with the troll could ruin it? Still, I have quite a lot of confidence in your skills, so if anyone could pull it of it is you!
I'd go for the horn, and maybe some pustules and blisters in a few selected spots?

The hobbos / gnoblars and asolutely freaking great (the ogres aren't bad either :P).... I can feel the hobbos poping up sometime in the near future in my plog..... lol
Well the title got me hooked... Extreme makeover Nurgle?!?! Now that was something I had to see!
And the work in question... got me subscribed.
I think it's a really cool idea, and very suitable for Nurgle the lord of decay, and grandfather who 'loves' all his loyal followers (even the tiny rotting ones!).
The sculpting in this is great, but for me the real stand out item is that Troll! The head is just really top grade stuff. Theres so much character and personality in that expression and face. Kudos for brilliant execution!
Absolutely wonderful. Never has rotting flesh and oozing pustules been more beautiful to look upon.
I agree about the troll not quite fitting in with the rest of them, but echo the sentiments of those who think you should start again rather than deface such a wonderfully characterful sculpt. If you make two you can show the before and after effects of his extreme makeover, “Oh! I look positively hideous! Thank you nurgle!”![]()
++UPDATE 24/4++
After a hiatus I'm back. Real life got in the way with documents needed to be written and started a new job as a gym instructor as well as a funeral. But I have not been inactive (that only applies for the forum activity) as I have sculpted quite a bit on different minis. I was lucky to receive 5 old minotaurs which was introduced to my friends mr.clipper and mrs.file, after a quite a bit of work I started to add armor and the basics. So far it is not much to show but I have at least started them.
I finished up sculpting the troll and went for a horn + spikey bits as well as some pustules and such to bring the troll closer to the theme. I'm quite happy with it so far but remember that it is still in heavy PIP and so is the gent next to him
That's it for now, I hope to show updates soon again
Cheers and thanks for looking

++Update++
God it has been ages since I updated this, well after starting a new job and getting more hours means that I get more money but less time for minis. Well I have done some work on them at least.
First up a almost finished troll (bar a few details)
more angles:

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y21...k/DSC03894.jpg
Quite happy with it, a unit of three will probably look good
Next up is a update on the ogre paintjob, not done yet but getting there (almos to grimey atm)
and back:
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y21...k/DSC03910.jpg
Next up is the start of my ironguts, they will be based on last edition minotaurs (kindly donated by Cassarus), this one will probably be the leader but I'm not sure yet. They will be armed with halberds and this one is made from a chaos knight 'lance' and a ogre sword. The feet are from the new O&G boar riders (excellent sculpts!). The mini still needs lots of detail and I'm a bit out of ideas for the head and so - ideas are welcome for the helmets.
I really like where these are going, but I need to add some more nurgle details and so. I think that the helmet will set the mood so keep in mind that I'm looking for 'nurglish' helmets.
I also started to convert some O&G boars to be my sabertusks but alas they looked too boring with only some warts added, I instead went crazy and added some hobgoblin riders made from isengard Warg riders from the LoTR range. Still WIP but I like these a lot better even if the mini is bit overkill for the statlines.

Funny hats will be added, details smoother etc.
By the way, I have tried liquid greenstuff on some minis now and I have to say that the stuff is great for some(!) details, a good addition for smoothing out stuff and blending different materials.
Anyhow, thanks for watching and I hope to drop some updates soon again - Cheers

Wowsers, that Troll is amazing!
I simply love the fungi growing off him, how did you make that?
The Ogre I reckon could use big antler-esque horns for his helmet, or perhaps a hood? Even maybe the Ogre's head could be mutating into a Plaguebearer visage or something. I'm sure whatever you do will be awesome though!
The "Sabretusks" look great, again clever use of different plastic kits across several ranges.![]()
Mr Feral, long time no see! (Will look through your blog so expect post mate) Antlers it is, I will play with the idea for some time. The fungi was inspired by Massive Voodoos tutorial on fungi as well as TurskanPerkeets giant. I made mine from cutting slices of cork at an angle and then supergluing them to the mini. The top was covered with a thin layer of putty, when dry I did hit it with some liquid GS. The key was to cut the cork at the right angle so that it got that fungi shape. Hope that makes sense

Looking forward to that boar! I had the idea of getting ungors on tuskgors for HG wolf riders for CD today.
