I dare to dream that this is fully compatible with Talisman ala Timescape back in the day. However, even as a standalone this should be awesome.

It's not. Talisman is pretty much Candyland with fantasy pictures. If this is indeed a "Talisman Game System" boardgame, it will pretty much be Candyland with a bunch of skulls doodled on the board.

I love Talisman. I disagree that it's just Candyland with dragons. It is an older game system, and so it may feel a little dated to those accustomed to modern games like Arkham Horror or Betrayal at the House on the Hill, but there is still a good deal of strategy involved; from choosing the right character, to deciding whether or not to pillage the timescape and risk the Star Worms, to picking the right path to the Crown of Command or whatever endgame you happen to be playing.

I try to get a game of it in every couple of months, and I can totally see how to fit the 40k universe into the mechanic. I'll be buying this and looking forward to the inevitable Hive World, Death World, and Lost in the Warp expansions.

You guys have totally lost me. It's like your all talking about an inside joke. Someone Please breakdown what this is? I have no idea what Talisman is, so that explanation doesn't work. Is this a board game with 40k minis like Space Hulk?

This game looks like it's Talisman but all the fantasy characters are replaced with 40K characters and the dragon has been replaced by a Daemon Prince.

So can't wait for this. Talisman is good. 40k is good. Together they should be brilliant!

    Rumour says summer.

Rather odd that the box lists only 2-4 players, whilst Talisman is open-ended with player numbers. Perhaps there are only 4 characters: Marine, Rogue Trader, Sister, Techpriest.

Hmm, I don't know. I remember this from back in the day and a friend got Talisman when FFG brought out their version. It was decent fund walking around the outer edges, killing monsters, etc. Then I tried to actually win the game and it quickly stopped being fun. It wasn't played since. So a 40k boardgame? Sounds interesting. 40k Talisman? I'll pass.

It looks like there is an Inquisitor on the box.

You left out the overpowering random element, which can throw up a fun 1-2 hour game, but will most likely turn into a nail scraping grind that drags on for hours.

    Re: Relic from FFG

I feel like I have to stick up for Talisman....

Talisman is not an in-depth strategy game, or even WFB. But it is the definition of a beer-and-pretzels game.

The random element clearly annoys some people, but at least it is a balancing factor. Non-gamers can join a game and have a fair chance of winning, not becuase of pure randomness but because the game is easy enough to pick up, the complexity comes from interacting with the cards which are spelt out before you. So you could take on a non/rare gamer and it would still be a reaonably fair game, unlike WH40k or Chess.

If you think about what you are doing in the game, you will take advantage of the luck that comes your way. What you can't do is plan to pick up the runesword and take on increasingly difficult adversaries. The game is not so random that all the players could randomly determine the winner on turn 1.

I love Talisman, I'm sure I'm going to like this as well. YMMV.

    Re: Relic from FFG

I hear this is only going to be a 4 player game, which creates a problem for my gaming group who would all want to play it, which ironnically means we wouldn't get this game since not all of can join in.

    Please tell me I'm wrong.

    Re: Relic from FFG

It says 2-4 players on the box. However the original talisman says 2-6 players on the box and came with something like 15 different characters to pick from. If you wanted you could play with someone using each character it just gets very crowded. Which means that for this game I see no reason why you wouldn't be able to do the same thing as long as there are enough characters. And honestly we play 40k the table top game already. If you really need to fit more people i am sure you can house rule something quite easily.
