if pandemonium is in play and my opponent meets the casting value of the spell but rolls a double and sets pandemonium off is the spell still cast or do they count as having failed to cast?

AFAIK a miscast doesn't make the spell auto fail to cast. Simply resolve the spell, then resolve the miscast.
damn that is annoying i was hoping it did
Uh, since the default condition is IF and Miscast simultaneously, how would you conclude that miscasting prevented the spell from working?
Especially given the last three paragraphs of the second column on p.34, above the miscast table?

The spell went off so any double will be a miscast. Since he miscast, the spell fails. Since the spell failed, he wouldn't roll on the miscast table. Since he didn't roll on the miscast table, the spell would go off. Since the spell went off, he did miscast. And repeat over and over.
Pandemonium is good enough without also making spells fail to cast.
No Signature right now.
Dreadlordpaul was suffering form a case of 'edition hangover'. In 6th and 7th, if you miscast, for whatever reason, the spell failed. That is no longer so, but it is worth noting that you can still miscast without successfully casting a spell. Pandaemonium is in play and you roll snake eyes, that's a double so you miscast. However, you also rolled a 2, so you automatically fail the spell as well. Now that is pain.
