    Kabal of the Void Dragon

    Morning all.

I thought I'd keep myself encouraged and focussed with a modelling/painting log whilst I start my inevitably slow as hell exploration of dragon themed Dark Eldar. I am, for want of a better word, a little bit obsessed with dragoons. It started out as an aerie project, entirely winged, an arena in the sky and hellions/scourges descending into Commoragh to claim new victims for the Succubus hierarchy...

Then I fell in love with the dragon wings on the scourge...

    Then I made these...

And then added horns to them...

I hope to clean away the excess spikes and armour studs (something I'm doing across the army, as well as trimming down the splinter rifles and making the Reavers more sleek). I will also be using Army Painter barbed wire to make harpoon chains for the spears, coiling around them to go with their dynamic poses. They're made out of Raider bits, wych bits and some experimentation. I would love to get another raider at some point, or the wych bodies from the venom, to complete a unit of ten. I can use them either as Harlequins or Incubi, most likely Incubi.

No cat picture I'm afraid, but army shot and a glimpse of the Hellions will do, right?

Colour scheme wise, gold and silver, (mithril silver washed with Gryphonne sepia) and some deep red trim/accents seem to be where I'm leaning.

See you when I've cleaned the mould lines off everything...*grumbles*, talk about torture!

Quick work to say it was all on sprues a few days ago...

Really liking the idea and the execution looks good (the horns on the faceless masks are awesome!)
I'll have to see the finished colour to comment, i'm thinking lime green might be a bit strong, but hopefully you can pull it off.

Also having the Kabal named the same as a C'Tan might add an odd twist

    Looking forward to more

Re: Kabal of the Void Dragon

    Thanks for your comments both.

But I am alluding to this Void Dragon.

    Not this one .

The lime green was on the model prior to assembly, it'll be dirty gold, blood red and black - three reaver bikes to clean, then the riders to de-stub, aerodynamise and then spray.

Hope to get this rolling quick and get a tester for you gentlemen .

    (IMMENSE THANKS to Lestat ).

    .
You DO know the aircraft takes it's name from the guys who invented it: the Void Dragon Corsair band (who are in fact named after the other guy) :P.

Not to worry though, your ideas sound good, so keep it up!
