Temple of Skulls

Are the skulls from the temple of skulls, supposed to be actual skulls, or just rocks formed as skulls? Im a tad bit confused. If they are skulls.. who do they belong to (As far as I know, the great giant (forgeworld) is the largest human-skulled thing in warhammer, and the head is not big enough for one of these skulls)?

Yeah, by their sheer scale, something big enough to have skulls like that would have been mentioned. So, sculpted, either by mortals or by the power of chaos warping the rocks...




(Cue half a dozen answers from sad people looking for confirmation of their existence by attempting to be funny or just complain for the sake of it, over the prevalence of skulls in warhammer, and have interwebs denizens agree with them... Who is going to be the first to write "moar skulls!!!111"? )

I assume you are referring to the GW scenery piece, im pretty sure they are supposed to be carved stone as the broken one shows it to be solid all the way through which a real skull would not be. Plus they are stupidly massive.

They are the skulls of Stone Giants

They are skulls that together form the world skull, when Empire engineers finally breach orbit they will see that the Warhammer World is a Skull, then when they set foot on distant planets they will find they are also skulls!

I think you're taking it too literally (unless this really is just a joke thread, which I'm assuming it is!). Things like that don't always need to be explained. Where does it end? Are the castle sized skulls from dreadfleet really skulls?

Given that the Warhammer world has many creatures of various sizes, I think it's a fair question. I think they are rocks but given the setting you can't blame someone for wondering.

Out of curiousity does anyone know how the skulls compare to the super giant forgeworld sells?

Nah, because it's explicitly said they aren't The turtle skeleton is a real one though, and the skull of that one is certainly many times bigger than the skulls on the temple of skulls.
