The secret best character in 40k?

Abaddons, Calgars and Thrakas are 10-a-penny. I want to know who is the secret best character in 40k, the unsung heroes whose deeds go unnoticed.

I vote Belial, Master of the Deathwing.
For 185pts I get a Fearless TA Captain who has variable wargear, buffs the whole army to Ld10, grants +1A and FnP to one Deathwing squad (and thus himself), lets all squads in 12" re-roll failed morale and pinning, can deep strike automatically on the first turn of the game AND unlocks DWTS as a scoring troops choice.

    Flipping steal.

I vote for Colonel "Iron Hand" Straken, comes in handy at 95 pts. He is a marine character in a Guard Army, has S6 attacks that strike at initiative, he can't be singled out as part of a retinue (and thus has essentially 7 wounds), he has a Furious Charge/Counter Attack bubble which is priceless in armies with loads of foot soldiers, he is fearless, give him a medic for FNP. WS 5 means he is pretty much always hitting on 4's or better, 4 attacks with 5 on the charge. OH and he gets +2d6 to armour pen. His is a great all-rounder, capable of buffing the surrounding army, as well as providing a potent offensive or counter attack unit.

    Strakern is scarcely a secret.

Nork, now he is a secret. Second only to Bjorn the fell handed. Of course this is due to their wonderful synergy with a sock.....
Occasionally accused of being helpful and constructive.
One ring Book to rule them all, one ring place to find them, One ring Codex to bring them all, and in the Darkness future bind them. Time for the unified Marine Codex.

Vargard Obyron. He is the only non-C'Tan with WS 6, gets bonus attacks when you miss, and can teleport anywhere, at any time.

    My vote goes to KHHHHHHAAAAAAANNNNN!!!!

I use a counts-as Khan a lot, unmounted, and I quite like his abilities, although it's too bad he doesn't have a relic blade. Then he'd be awesome.

I don't know about you, but in my area I am the only guard player (out of a good 10-15) who bother to use Straken. I play Vostroyans, so after we lost Close Order Drill, I was desperate to find some way to display their close combat prowess and Straken seemed like an obvious choice. I haven't looked back since, but I have been puzzled by his lack of exposure in my local meta. Do you use him?

Yeah Straken's pretty gnarly and I use him regularly BUT that 95 points is just the tip of the iceberg, 50 points for the CoCoSq, another 30 for the Medic and so on....

I'd go with Al Rahem, again, hardly an under publicised character but, depending on how you build your force the guy can basically bring an entire army on, outflank style, in a turn. With the right build it can be an absolute game breaker, Huge blobbed Infantry squad walks on, uses his order to shoot assault weapons (ie Meltas and flamers) and move THEN they can charge.
Then there're the Special Weapon squads hurling Demo Charges or blapping away with Meltas and you can even bring on upto five Heavy Weapon squads on to compound the initial shock with a profusion of targets and the promise of much more pain if they aren't dealt with....And there's always that one in a million chance old Al will absolutely murder one of the big bads with his Sword.

until he is killed and your army flees off the board. Did that once with my Marbo counts-as, was great seeing the look on my opponents face. Ethereals of any stripe are too much of a risk I think. While I'm on the subject though, Marbo is a great special choice if not "Character" per say, he has done FAR more damages in games that I have used him than his 60pt price tag would suggest. On top of said Ethereal, he has nabbed a Farseer, Tervigon, helped rundown Imhotech with his Immortals (with the aid of ten veterans in assault), not to mention the countless poor foot sloggers he has nabbed with his demo charge last game I played he killed 13 Necron Warriors my opponent thought safe in cover. For sure an honorable mention.

Boss Snikrot is a personal favourite of mine. Especially when he comes on from whatever board edge he pleases and removes and earthshaker cannon from the game.

I say Kharn. I have heard lots of people tell me how good he is, but I have never seen anyone field him. Almost tempted to convert a Kharn model and have him carve stuff up!

problem with karn is that he is killed too easily from afar, Battle Cannon anyone?

Just because I love the characters and in spite of their faults, Master Seth of the Flesh Tearers for infantry slaughtering, O'shovah for ork killing and bodyguard of epicness, O'shaserra for her kills-everything twin-link, and yes, Belial of the Deathwing and his Feel No Pain for TERMIES. Take that Captain Sicarius you righteous pomp!

Those are my "secret" character picks but I wouldnt flinch at seeing Badrukk for his shanannagins or Lelith Hesperax because she's just plain nasty towards anything weaker than she is...

For me it would be Crowe or Snikrot. Snikrot because his battlewagon has torn the heart of more than one army out in games - and makes playing crowded games no fun at all. Crowe does, for his rending Cleansing Flame. . . (FAQ pending).

I'm gonna have to agree here. To make him even nastier, run him in a unit of honour guard. Yeah, you have to take a CM, but all those attacks at +1 str and I, thats some dead stuff right there.

Or a stray Power Fist. But that's beside the point of Kharn being awesome.

My vote? Aun'shi. Awesome background, half-decent rules (for the time and compared to his successor anyway), good model and so secret he's not even in his faction's codex any more.
