You actually want Aun'va to die: Stubborn is a terrible rule for the Tau! Against shooting it almost never does anything and in combat, when the Tau want to fall back, they suddenly have better odds of staying. On the other hand FC and PE make suits almost decent in combat. And all for an insane price tag...
    Awesome. Awesome to the head.

I'm looking to use Fabulous Billy soon. 6 Attacks, all ID, plus an Assault 3 Poison 2+... The ability to make my Troops stronger and not need Bob's stick of Leadership Reroll... With FNP to back it up. Now if he just had an Invul... At least he doesn't have his random stats anymore...

I have always taken Fuegan in my Eldar. He is a beast.
Does anyone else take Gunnery Sgt Harker in their Guard? I love outflanking a demo charge and heavy bolter in a chimera.

This seems like something a Slaanesh character would fit...

The changeling 5pts for the chance of any enemy unit(including vehicles ) to shoot there own side with everything they've got just such a good deal.(true you need a unit of horrors first but there not to expensive anyway). Or there's always deathleaper (yes not a competitive choice) he always causes trouble and my opponents spend a lot of time trying to kill him or worrying about him popping up behind a dread or static gun tank and rending it in the rear plus his other abilities shutting down libbies etc.

Is the changeling actually a character?

I'd thought he was just the equivilent of a sargeant.

    Matt Ward.

HQ choice that does not occupy a slot. May only be taken in a marine* army. Infantry, Unique(we hope)

Instantly adds your choice of 3 USRs, and an undercosted special rule (that does anything you like, so long as it doesn't make any sense in background terms) to every unit in your army.

*CSM players may choose to count as marine players for this. Fittingly, you will gain great power, at the cost of a huge betrayal and corruption of what came before.

I like using commissar yarrick in my infantry mobs, he can be pretty nifty in a fight.

Marbo - hardly secret, but still amazing. With his demo charge and high bs, something WILL die when he pops up. If by some miracle he survives another turn, he's also an awesome monstrous creature hunter

Changling - cheapest special character and causes havoc when his ability works

Epidemus - just amazing, good in combat and boost your plaguebearers to scary levels, the only way to make him better is if he had breath of chaos, but that's only a minor niggle. Strangely though, I'm the only deamon player i've ever seen running him

Wait, what do you mean by Snikrot's battlewagon? He can't infiltrate with a Battlewagon - it's not a dedicated transport for Kommandos.

Also on topic, I'm going to second the Changeling.

While I'm on the subject though, Marbo is a great special choice if not "Character" per say, he has done FAR more damages in games that I have used him than his 60pt price tag would suggest. On top of said Ethereal, he has nabbed a Farseer, Tervigon, helped rundown Imhotech with his Immortals (with the aid of ten veterans in assault), not to mention the countless poor foot sloggers he has nabbed with his demo charge last game I played he killed 13 Necron Warriors my opponent thought safe in cover. For sure an honorable mention.
I gotta agree with this one. Marbo is fantastic. And while he may not have the IC rule, I say sure, he counts as a character for purposes of this question. He's unique, he has a name, he operates alone... heck yeah!

Orikan the diviner. He has never failed to claim his own points, he has altered the entire methods people use to play me. He is a ticking time bomb that if played right, bites people incredibly hard. To make it worse, he is a necron. No one expects a hard counter assault from a necron character that no one ever takes. The first time I really used him, he altered the way my opponent played, killed an IC on accident with his transdeminsional beamer, then went stars are right and killed an entire assault squad without batting an eye about it. Also, he has claimed the legandary balial everyone is loving in this thread.

Re: The secret best character in 40k?

Mambo is rather good. My best with him was killing two whole squads of long fangs, both of whom had attached Terminator Wolf guard.. Demo charged one, killed all bar the wolf guard, dodged the cyclone shots from the survivor, took their charge and knifed him. Then proceeded to shot up and charge the second squad, and killed them all over a few turns...

I have to say, your 'Boba Fett' marbo is always entertaining.

Seeing him drop a thermal detonator on a group of terminators never gets old.

    Snikrot can't infiltrate in a BW>

Crowe's rending attack are for this CC attacks, not those inflicted by Cleansing Flame (which is a psychic attack, not a CC attack). You are misreading the rules in his entry there.

As for my secret favourite, my vote is also on Belial. 130 points for a guy with TH/SS and can upgrade a DW squad to almost game breaking levels, let alone his other rules like Deathwing Assault and Rites of Battle.
