    Scrathbuilt Interplanetry Freighter

Well every good pulp story needs a tramp freighter, or a ex-military cargo plane to carry the heroes to who knows where; the same must be true for every good space opera. So in that effort it's taken me almosts a year and half to get this far.

    The Hercules class light freighter.
Know for it's robust construction, ease of maintenance and cheap parts the Hercules class is a popular ship with many seeking a light interplanetry freighter. It's short take off and landing abilites also make it very useful in a wide range of different environments and can be seen used both smugglers and those seeking to catch them.
The model seen below is the short hulled version, which has an exceptional short take off and landing distance, but is still able to haul a good deal of freight. An up-armoured version is used by some armed forces as a light dropship where funds prohibit the use of speacialised military spec dropships.

    WIP:

    Finished:

Here it is landed just outside a small settlement on Amman IV - who knows what it's captain is up to?

Ah, he's supervising the unloading of a stolen EMW Z4000 hover car. It doesn't look in good condition, but favoured amongst provincial 'big men' and still fetching a good price; so it's more than likely stolen.

Here comes a truck with a precious shipment of pure H20, a valuable commodity on Amman IV, where natural aquifers are rare and jealously gaurded, most drinking water as a result comes from condensation farms. This shipment in contrast to the first is likely to be 'legal'.

Finally the crew and guards loading the shipment.

Hope you like, C&C as always welcome.

Oooooh, looking really nice! Really love stuff based on fluff (no rhyme intended), and this certainly fits the bill. Looks like it's good scale too, and the paintjob does it justice. Could have wished for some more detailing though, even ultra-sleek modern fighter jets have a lot of small details everywhere, but it's just a minor complaint. Really like the miniatures and terrain accompanying it as well, would work great for Infinity IMO.

    Cheers,
    BTB

I can only agree BTB. I would've liked more detailing on it, but more detailing requires more time and time is something that's in short supply
Regarding scale it's 13" long from nose to end of the exhausts and 4½" high, so it fits it's purpose. And yes it would suit Infinity very well.
    Thanks,
    Duncan

Hmm, probably a ship used within a single system. To do greater distances it would become rather troublesome. I would imagine this type of ship would be carried by larger, warp-capable, craft.

Yeah hence the 'interplanetry' freighter. Being a starship would require alot more work and a great size and would probably be best built as a terrain board, rather than a terrain item.

    Punch it, Chewie!

Will it have any special rules? Such as using the cargo-bay as a bunker?

Nice, if we see more, what sort of ships are you thinking of doing? Must admit, this is making me of scratch building some kind of small scale ship, even if it would only be used for terrain/objective in games.

I have considered building a few more as having a running gunfight in a 'ship-park' has a certain appeal. I'm thinking of the scene in Firefly (the pilot episode I think) where they've landed on some planet (forgotten the name) and are going ofr supplies/new jobs. So loads of little market stalls amongst the ships, etc.
Rules wise it's mainly just a terrain piece/objective.
