Maybe the Dark Angels are going to be the next Codex, dont see how this means a new 6th edition is coming ( I know they can, and I know GW does it every few years) but this could just mean they are next to be done.

The enemies of the Emperor fear many things.
They fear discovery, defeat, despair and death.
Yet there is one thing they fear above all others.
They fear the wrath of the Blood Angels!
I don't buy into any particular chapter being the "poster child", although Ultramarines have always been the epitome of "Codex adherant" chapters, going back to the 2nd Edition Codex: Ultramarines.
As to the different editions, we've had:
RT/1st Ed
Rulebook - Crimson Fists
2nd Ed
Box & Codex Imperialis art - Blood Angels
Rear box mini photos - Blood Angels
Rulebook - Crimson Fists
Wargear - Blood Angels
3rd Edition
Box & Rulebook art - Black Templars
Rear box mini photos - Black Templars
4th Edition
Battle for Mcragge box art - Ultramarines
Rear box mini photos - Ultramarines
5th Edition
Assault on Black Reach box art - Ultramarines
Rear box mini photos - Ultramarines
So Ultramarines have 2 editions in a row front and centre, but Fists BAs and Templars have all had the spotlight too. Not to mention Space Wolves were the first standalone Codex.
For the "generic" Marine Codices, we've had:
2nd Edition - Actually named "Codex: Ultramarines"
3rd Edition - Crimson Fists
4th Edition - Ultramarines
5th Edition - Ultramarines
So Ultramarines certainly appear most often as the typical bulk standard Marine, but again, this goes back to them being established from the very beginning as the epitome of "Codex adherant" chapters.

Back in 2nd edition the marine boxes were released with different chapters on them, i can't remember which boxes got which chapter though.
'Hold the line, sons of the Empire
I see the same fear in you that would take the heart of me,
but fear not for we don't auto break and can re-roll for it next turn.
a day may come when Robin Cruddace writes a good book, but it is not this day
a day may come when Ewar doesn't powergame, but it is not this day
This day our dice will roll sixes
This day we will be victorious!
I remember Devastators were Blood Angels. The old dome Predator was too. Wolves had their own stuff even then.
Again, using Ultramarines on the packaging is part of their "more Codex than Codex" status. I'm sure they kept putting alternate schemes on the backs and sides for some time. They may even still do that. I can't remember offhand![]()
I also seem to remember that the Dark Angels were the box cover art for the Dark Millennium addition for the 2nd ed. 40k.

Look at their left shoulder. The symbol is sculpted on, not decaled on. You can see the pommel of the sword on one of them coming off the shoulder pad, as well as the depth of the design on the wings.
Black was the first legion company. I think that green denoted Dark Angels actually from Caliban and Terran Dark Angels wore black. That one story where the two Strike Cruisers with commanders from the two different factions meet up and argue about how to proceed with the mission mentioned differences in the armor based on planetary allegiance. As for re-absorbing the DA into the main codex. I actually think this would benefit the DA. The 3rd - 10th companies are supposedly codex companies anyway. Characters allowing Deathwing and Ravenwing and Interrogator Chaplains are all they really need. Everything else is just cosmetic or fluff.
If I recall correctly, only their shoulder pads were different, not the whole of their armor. The Calibanite n00b commander had green on his shoulder pad heraldry while the Terran didn't. We could say that the change to fully green armor is in remembrance of Caliban, and perhaps they will in the next codex. As tot he Companies, the Assault Company is not quite codex, as they lack the bike & land speeder elements which are, of course, all in the Ravenwing; at least as of the last codex. They will probably leave it that way so as to establish just that little bit more codex variance.
As to the paint set, the minis are at least slightly different from those that came in the previous set, as these have sculpted on horizontal double ended arrows like Dark Angels Tactical Squads use, while the others had a single, upward-pointing arrow like Ultramarines Tactical Squads use. It also looks like the sword and wings detail on the other side is sculpted on too, and are not decals. We will know all of the details when somebody can lay hands on them and look for anything else that is Dark Angels specific.

And they're bases have been left bare. I suppose GW want to show exactly what you can make in the set because they don't come with any sand or flock, but still... and weren't texture paints suppose to substitute for that?

Has somebody literally seen, in person, that it is not the Dark Angles Green color?

As far as the details being sculpted in, I wonder about that too. It could be showing off liquid green stuff, but there isn't any in the paint set. It would be the first time that's it's fully dedicated to one chapter, which is very odd. Maybe 6th ed is the Dark Angels edition? I mean, beyond just being on the front of the starter set. The next couple of months may prove very interesting.

Just out of curiosity, but does anyone "in the know" so to speak, know who the manufacturer of this new paint range or the previous/current paint ranges are, beyond the old Coat D'arms ones of which I still own quite a few? Just curious as to whether they will still be available under different names from the manufacturer or another supplier.
