    The Campaign continues.... as POSSESSED!

While I haven't retired my Reikland Warband, it has taken some serious hits the last few games. I decided to start a possessed warband for a change of pace from shooting to close combat.

I started the possessed with just a Magister, two possessed and a brethren. Little did I know just how awesome possessed really are!
In my first 4 games I didn't have a single model go out of action. I was even winning games! Now with 6 games under the belt of the possessed I finally expanded my warband from 4 to 10. These are the models I have completed so far.

Magister, Darksoul, Beastman, Possessed, Possessed, Mutant

At this point I have a Magister with the sorcery skill, Lure of Chaos, Wings of Darkness and Vision of Torment. My Possessed are unstoppable and everyone underestimates spines. Spines are amazing. I just added a mutant with spines, extra arm, 2 maces, shield and light armor as well as 2 beastman henchmen equipped with swords and maces, 2 Darksouls equipped with 2 maces each and 2 Brethren with 2 maces each. Sunday will be an all day affair so hopefully I can add another mutant and am hoping for a Beastman "lad's got talent" for the 6th.

Possessed have been the most fun so far and I am definitely looking forward to more games with them.

    Awesome painting and models!

Possessed are the most fun to put together, I think.

Don't the spines only injure on a 6? And allow full saves?

This is true for spines, but that isn't exactly bad. 3 guys in base to base means 3 chances for 6, means .50% chance to take one down, and it is every combat round. I do my best to engage only henchmen with my possessed and it has been very effective so far. Far better to knock down or stun a henchman right at the start because it can free up the possessed to take the guy out of action when it comes to allocating attacks. I've had spines stun two henchmen in B2B and then possessed just directs an attack at each and moves on.

    Spines is grossly underestimated.

Kirth, nice models and great paintjob. Mind elaborating where they're from? I mean, I can spot the obvious demons, but that magister is an awesome model and that Darksoul and Mutant are great conversions. Where did you get those heads from? I reckon there's alot of greenstuff in there too, right?

The magister is the corpse cart necromancer body with a ungor spear and a zombie head also from the corpse cart. The darksoul is a bretonnian man-at-arms with chaos marauder/warrior arms and a Pig Iron Productions kolony feral head with a greenstuff hood. The mutant is a stormvermin body with another Pig Iron head and gor arm with ungor club at the end of it with a marauder horseman shield and the tail from the chaos spawn set. The feet on the mutant is greenstuff so it looks like a shoe rather than a rat foot. There is greenstuff for gap filling and correcting some details, but no detail was added with greenstuff.

3 1/6 chances does not equal 3/6. Rather you are looking for how many different combinations yield at least 1x6 out of 216 possible outcomes. Your chance of receiving three 6s is 1/216 and your chance of receiving two 6s is 15/216. Your chances of receiving one 6 equals 75/216. This totals 91/216 possible rolls so about 3/7 against 3 guys in base to base of taking one or more guys down. Also .50% means half of one percent.

Now my "be a git" rant is over I'd like to say I agree. Spines are pretty great if you can get b2b with a small mob of shooters, providing you don't get shot to death or hacked to pieces by their stabby friends and their heroic buddies first. Possessed are pretty nifty at killing almost anything anyway, so this must've been a fun roster to start with. Did you take any other mutations?

I took Cloven Hoofs as well. I am excitedly waiting for opportunities to get skills so I can grab sprint and leap so I have 19-24" move with them.

So far the Possessed continue to be unstoppable. After some severe boasting by our skaven player he was summarily executed by the possessed "Commissars." Some of the combats have been so stacked against the possessed and they blast through warband members like butter. Jaw Claw, my Slaanesh Deamonette possessed now is Str 5, tough 5, and 4 wounds. She is the most feared of all so far.

Really love the paintwork on those guys!

We're about to start our own game after many years and one of the players will be using Possessed... hoping he doesn't get you're luck!

Do you use the "Summoning" rules? If so any interest in some special Rules for Khorne I wrote up?

@Killingblow: I would highly recommend doing everything in your power to take the possessed out of action. The more serious injury rolls you can cause the more damage you will do in the long run to hinder the possessed player. I have only had 1 possessed go out of action in 10 games now and that one out of action caused a chest injury. By taking them out of action you increase the potential of them dying and having to rebuy a possessed which can be extremely expensive. This is how I would fight them if I had to face them.
