All his talk about his gnoblar, me talking him into making hobgoblins and this was bound to happen. Curse his name :waggz:
For those of you who don't know, hobgobbos was originally part of the Chaos dwarf army, (you know the ones with the big hats). Well those guys has been taunting me for years, they new I had a huge fetish about them, but no we wont get a new armybook, no way.
The storm of chaos gave us fanboys some hope in the form of the hellcannon, was this it? Would the finally get the new book?
Nope, turnes out we would have to wait a bit more with only the old list from Ravening hords.

Well with the new FW book "Tamurkhan throne of chaos" there really is "a new hope". So I've got the book, read a bit about the army list and it seams fun. The Stunties are really expensive pointvise, but that only means I don't have to get me as many of them.

This will be a homage thread for the Chaos dwarfs I remember from growing up, it wont be the new FW ones, the leading words will be; There must be hats, hats for Hashut!
This will also be a really slow thread as I plan to build most of the stuff myself, using plastic dwarfs for the basic models. You will get what I mean when I start.

But now for the fun part (a.k.a the rant is done), this week I've been building(Tamurkhan throne of chaos7sculpting my fist Evil stuntie, it's based on a dwarf longbeard.

So I know I'm no Mrdee or Animerik, but I'm pretty proud of this little guy. I've been missing to work with gs and this was really fun. This won't be a full 2k army, but maybe eventually I reach 1k. First of I will get a box of dwarf handgunners and I'll go from there.

But back to the first little bugger, I'm just about done with him, and now I'm thinking about colors, do I go all classic color scheme with lots of red, black and metals, or do I go fro something different? Purple? I hear good thing about turquoise :P

Nice sculpting. My only criticism is that the axe shaft is at an angle to the axe head. He looks cool though and I like the face on his axe. I look forward to seeing him painted.

Yes I know about the shaft, the original mini was that way. And I couldn't do more about it unless I would had cut the whole thing of, including his arm. But I think I did the best of it

Ah yes, Chaos Dwarfs, the greatest army. I miss those huge hats, tusks and weird beasts.

Your little man looks really nice (this is not a come-on, it only sounds like one). The Robotnik-esque moustache, the horned, burning hat, everything really.

Nitpick: The mouth area looks a bit undefined, especially with the tusks. I suppose it will look better when finished.

And now it's update time, painting has commenced
Not really done yet, but hes getting there, so far mu biggest concern is the axe, not sure if I'm happy with it. What say you my fellow geek's and wise men?

Love the conversion! The lava looks suitable damn hot and the dark and brooding theme fits the grumpy git perfectly. And yes big hats are sexy
