I don't think it is too crazy to see a flier supplement, just like cities of death etc etc. I would like it personally.

A flier supplement may actually be pretty cool. At the very least it wouldn't require any one person to buy a ton of models(I hope). If it turns out its just better flier rules in the main rulebook that's cool too.
+2 to the question of "Who is writing/has written Tau and Eldar?"
Yeah, but I was a young and optimistic 23 year old when the last Eldar codex was released. I may be a disillusioned and world weary 30 year old by the time the next dex is released.
Anyway, any news is good news even if it still feels a long way off.
WDL record with my Swooping Hawk themed Eldar list:-
W: 2,836
D: 2 (I felt sorry for my opponents and started firing at my own units)
L: 1 (I played against myself using my undefeated footslogging Fire Warrior list and lost)
Harry, Stickmonkey & Straightsilver... Thanks for the rumors. I look forward to all of the new goodies, but I look forward to the Ork Fighta most of all... my heart is green, doncha know.![]()

I worry a bit about these this flyer rumors.
Without knowing how they pan out in 6th edition. (This is perhaps a please to relaese a bit more information regarding rules?)
As the flyer rules work rigth now in apokalypse they are fun, but quite biased. Only a few codex'es as any kind of working defence agasint flyers.
I like flyers, I hope to see them, but I also dearly hope that GW brings som counter tactic, or new entries into the exiting codicies in such a way that all armies and factions have a reliable defence should they choose to use it.
I hope that this ends up being something that the "powers that be" (and I don't necessarily mean GW) don't decide to bar from tournament play. All too often, it seems, what is allowed in tournaments tends to trickle-down into what people want to play against/with in casual games, as anything beyond the basic rulebook seems to be considered heretical (I guess those sorts don't remember Dark Millennium).
I say bring on the fliers, and let them be used in any game of 40k! Enough of "optional" (i.e. "opponent's permission") supplements and units!

I was excited about this the 1st time around, and im still excited. real flyers rules will be great!
That's a legitimate concern. In Rogue Trader any vehicle that was a flyer could easily dominate the game. There was simply no way to defend against them short of being outside line of sight.
Thankfully flyers in the current game are not well armoured, and opponents can actually shoot back against a strafing run, unlike Rogue Trader. A stray heavy bolter round can take down a flyer with a bit of luck. So one counter that can be brought to the table is plenty of heavy weapons, preferably strength 6 or higher.
Supplements pretty much have to be optional; start up costs are high enough as they are for GW games without making it mandatory for people to buy/know a small handful of supplements each focused on there own little thing. Yes, I remember Dark Millennium, but that was a different time and probably contained a lot more basic rules than I imagine this supplement will do. I imagine there will be some basic flyer rules in the core rulebook and this will be more if you want to play games focused on planes, ground defences and probably some funky missions to go with it.
Personally I don't think planes have any place in 40k and would be quite happy to see them put into a supplement I can then proceed to not care about, but I expect them to be part of the core rules as I'll just hope for them to be balanced and not force me to invest in my own just to be able to play.
Since they're now plastic, surely the most common flier must now be the Valkyrie? AV 12 isn't strong but it certainly isn't weak. A heavy bolter couldn't touch it, and brutal experience has taught me that even the eldar's dedicated AA gun struggles to do anything serious to them.
I'm with you on your hopes, there. Really, I'm most concerned about distribution of things; so long as the new codices give each army a flak/AA/interceptor option that is worth a damn (e.g. like a Hydra, NOT a Firestorm), then this will be something to celebrate and enjoy.
I don't see whats to enjoy when you shoot with only S6 as your AA weapon against an all-round-AV12 flyer (or even 13! lol!) while your own are only AV10 and can be shot down by a bunch of Stormbolters.

He specified new codicies, and even pointed out how failing the Firestorm is.
Not to mention that Harry says there will be a new codex with a new flier next year for Eldar.
Really? No other race have flyers that could pull off interceptor duty? No more realeases will come?
No rules for engaging fliers will make it in?
