Didn't quite a few get caught out with the Megaforce boxes at Christmas which were only available in limited quantities to third party stores?

    Re: Autumn of Fliers

So are we locked in on 3 (admittedly awesome sounding) kits being the total of June's releases?

Has there been mention of any accompanying things (fine cast, hobby stuff etc)?

EDIT: To answer my own question, it looks like there's Dark Elves/Lizardmen/Tomb Kings Finecast wave in June too.

    Re: Autumn of Fliers

Just saw a shop post this to their facebook feed. Hmm.

    June Releases -

    49-15 Necron Night Scythe/Doom Scythe
    50-21 Ork Bommer
    48-36 Space Marine Stormtalon Gunship
    89-12 Goblin Shaman
    89-13 Savage Orc Big Boss

    June 12th Release

    Kits $ are
    $45.50 Necron
    $45.50 Ork Bom
    $45.50 SM Stormtalon
    $9.90 GS
    $14.00 SOBB
(this store is in the US, so the prices are USD)
EDIT- I'm also skeptical of the June 12th date, as that is a Tuesday... don't they usually release on Saturdays?

    Re: Autumn of Fliers

Really? That puts all 3 kits at the same price as the DE Razorwing, whereas from rumours and sketches (plus the implication of the craft) the Stormtalon will be similar in size to a Valk/Stormraven? I could understand the Scythes being at this price, but not the Stormtalon (and, possibly, the Bomma).

A savage Orc big boss? That is news, I can't describe how long I've been waiting for a savage Orc character that isn't a shaman.

The fantasy section has rumours of a lot of fantasy models for dark elves and some other stuff in June, mostly metal models moving to finecast

I think the Stormtalon is probably smaller than a Stormraven; with these prices I'd guess we're looking at flyers that are more like Razorwings in complexity/bulk/however these prices are set.

I imagined the Talon would be smaller than the Raven, but even then I thought it would be similar to the Valkyrie (which is, strangely, the same price... go figure, it's GW.... )
If it is how I have it in my head I'd be quite impressed with the value. Let's just hope the rules do it justice!

    Re: Autumn of Fliers

The description taken from Beasts of War (as seen here) suggeted that the Stormtalon would be shorter and narrower than the Stormraven, which would justify a pricetag in-line with the Razorwing

I always imagined that the Razorwing's low cost was in part due to it only taking up two sprues, which is much less than anything else of comparable size. I could see the Scythe maaaybe being comparable, since it's also very flat, but not the other two. The Talon must have loads of tiny bits judging from the sketch and the Bomma has a decently large hull and long wings.
Of all the threads in all the forums in all the world you had to post into this one.

Being about the same price as the Razorwing sounds about right, the Storm Talon is supposed to be of a comparable size.

It's apparently not as big as Valk or a Storm Raven.

From what I can gather the footprint is roughly the same as Space Marine Rhino, maybe a bit bigger but not by much.

This. If the prices are going to be the same as the Razorwing, it'll be down to the number of sprues.

Granted, a lot of DE stuff, upon release, ended up being cheaper than other models. I remember when a box of DE Warriors was like 25 dollars while a box of IG Guardsman was 35... but again, probably due to sprue count.

    Re: Autumn of Fliers

Just a thought - the post Faeslayer saw on Facebook was by a "shop" (LGS?) so those prices could be the discounted price (usually 20% - 25%) which would make the flyer kits closer to $52 USD full retail, which would make them comparable to the DE ravager, IG hvy support tanks, necron ghost ark etc. So halfway between razorwing and stormraven / vendetta. Not sure I would make any assumptions about their size based on price though.

Tuesday may the day they get their orders in from their distributor (alot of shops get one order without shipping fees a week and just get things on that day), or if its a CoD the day when the owner is there to handle the bill, or thats their 40k night.

I thought so too, but Warstore (on their FB page) has confirmed that those prices are the MSRP (so, with the LGS/internet discount, $36.40... not bad! I'm gettin' two! )

The release date is 2 JUN 12, June 2nd 2012, not the 12th of June.

All of the 40K kits are $45.50 MSRP.

Nice. I'm glad at the lower prices for all of the kits. I expected the Ork one to be more.
Can't wait for photos, hope the assault cannon on the nose of the Talon is smaller than the sketch.

Another thing on pricing- the Razorwing is two tank sprues plus a small clear plastic canopy sprue.
Size wise, on parts for the Talon, I am thinking the same tail as the storm raven, engine pods a bit larger than the devilfish, and a front cockpit section slightly shorter than the valkyrie cockpit but wider. Only real options are several guns/missiles, so with the part desnisty of modern kits, the Talon should easily fit on 2 sprues.
