Cheers for the info Freakiq, nice to know that there aren't any major contentions in the looks (Aka Stormraven, which as much as some people may like it, I don't see as having universal appeal).

At least with the Ork and Cron models anyway, I'm interested in seeing the Storm Talon and observing whether they've made it too "Heroic". Hopefully I'll wake up and all will have been revealed

All 3 Ork variants look great. The Necron flier(s) look as expected and finish off their range wonderfully. Two thinks bug me with the Talon. One the paint job seems to make it seem like that tonka toy as mentioned above, and the assault cannons ride kinda low for me, but looks like if you remove the connector piece and put them more flush with the cockpit that won't be as much of an issue. It looks a bit funny on the large flyer stand however.

So getting the Ork fliers! They look like they could be magnetized to make them interchangeable.

Pretty much agree with FreakIQ and the loose Moose. I think the talon will look ok if you weather the crap out of it. It's a step up from the raven anyway, is it for C:SMs only? The text 'update to codex space marines' suggests maybe it is.

Many thanks for the pics at last. I can see myself getting one of each, I really enjoyed building the Dark Eldar flier.
Are all three kits RRP £27.50?

    Re: Autumn of Fliers

Stormtalon looks too squat. Moreso than the Stormraven. Don't like it at all.

The Ork Fliers will hurt me. Impending unemployment does not mesh well with this release

    Thanks for the pics, Jossy.

The portal and deathray on the 'Scythe thankfully look very easy to magnetize.

The fact that they are so flat makes my increasingly cramped army case very happy.

What's funny is that many people wanted the Stormraven to have the AC nose-mounted.

    Re: Autumn of Fliers

    Thanks for pics.

That is an excessive anti-tank, anti-MC platform (and potentially anti-infantry). Especially if the side weapons are not twinlinked. 2 typhoon launchers and an assault cannon? Die, things, die. Can anyone share what the special launcher is (It got clipped at the corner)? The overall design isn't bad, but I do wish the guns were integrated rather than hanging out and huge. They look wildly out of scale, especially since they are all marine portable or at least terminator portable weapons.

Ork and Necron flyers are nice, though the latter needs a canopy of some description. Nice easy swap of the teleporter and death ray though. Other than that, they look exactly like I expected them to. And the ork planes are sufficiently orky.

Also, on the ork flyers... is that a heavy Support icon next to the Dakkajet and a Fast Attack icon next to the Burna Bommer? Or just random ork glyphs?

    Nice shark, pretty shark.

    Re: Autumn of Fliers

The Fighta-Bomma looks great, and they've done a good job providing enough parts that you can add sufficient orky variation between models - you've got the exhausts, the tail, the placement of the wing guns, the cockpit style...

The Stormtalon looks terrible. It's too stubby and the assault cannon and heavy bolters look bad. Getting rid of the assault cannon entirely and using missiles in the pods would make it a bit better, but it's still pretty embarrassing.

I'm not against it being nose-mounted

But i feel that being there + being horribly oversized (thanks to the "external box" it's placed inside] just makes the model look off-balanced

I think that just doing something as small as clipping the ACs from the "box" (throwing it away) and gluing them to the place where the rotating part is could make it look way better

Damn, those Ork flyers are close to perfect! Necron one is nice, too.

...the Storm Talon is a disaster. It looks like an airborne potato.

I don't think GW's ever revealed their pre-usenet history, although presumably the letters section of very old White Dwarfs is involved.

All three fliers look great, defiantly getting the marine one. Ork ones are almost tempting me to start an army based around them.
    Can’t wait till release.
