Yes, you're right: Skitarii's power levels vary a lot depending on what you read. I really think it depends on the Forgeworld and the magus in charge. I have been thinking about making some large servitor or Myrmidon constructs or legio cybernetica units to represent heavy weapons teams, ogryns, sentinels and tanks.

@SDKFZ - That Malcaruss is the mutt's nuts. Are you planning to use it as a kind of Malcador mark 2 with a rotating turret, or is the plan just to use it as a command Russ or something? I'm definitely going to have to make one of those at some point!

Thanks ! Ill be using mine as the command vehicle for my second russ company. Rather fitting, me thinks.

Like your idea of using mechanicus constructs as weapons teams and ogryns, will fit great !

Time for a mini-update: I didn't have the time to clear my desk to the level needed to take photos of finished units, so I've taken some of my HQ scratchbuilds/kitbashes.

And something I've been playing about with, not sure if it's going to work. I'm thinking Master of the Fleet with this one though.

Apologies for the dodgy pics, I didn't have time to set up my tripod.

Like the "face" of that Master of the Fleet and all those small cogwheels on the Master of Ordnance.

    Very inspirational.

There is some gorgeous work in this thread. I love the subtle colors and weathering on the infantry. And the Tanks are superb.

    Saardis,

Very nice conversion work. Also like how you have not shied away from mixing two different regiments figures...but have blended them with a unified paint scheme.

    Keep up the good work,

Re: Saardis IG & Admech thread

    Thanks for the feedback!

@SDKFZ - Cheers: I've just bought 150g of watch parts from Ebay, so expect more in a similar vein. The more 'elite' the unit, the more cogs and gubbins I'm planning to put on it.

@Razormasticator - Thanks a lot: I start from a white undercoat and then wash each unit in an assortment of colours before applying the blue-grey tamiya colour. Then I put another wash on top before painting in the webbing and armour. I'm trying to link the units to the vehicles by painting the armour of the infantry in a similar style to the vehicles. I use a thinned MIG wash with some pigment powders dissolved in it to do the dirt wash on the infantry, and a thicker version of the same wash on the vehicles.

@Captain Brown - I didn't want to get bored painting the army: IG have a lot of infantry figures! When painting I normally do them in batches of 6, with 3 of each and sometimes a special model at the end: at the moment the FW Techpriest is the one I'm doing a little bit to at a time... ...I get a bit intimidated by models which are so detailed and I have to 'warm up' with some rank-and-file models first.

OK, time for a bit of a mega-update!

First up, Cadians. This is the first complete squad of these I've painted.

And some closeups of my favourite ones:

I've also finished the second squad of the 3 Krieg squads I'm planning for the first stage of the army:

Re: Saardis IG & Admech thread

Here are some better photos of my Master of Ordnance:

If anyone's interested, the front of the torso is the back of the torso of a Chaos Marine Rhino driver. The front torso of the normal marine rhino driver forms the back of his torso, with the 'collar' built up with brown stuff. The pelvis and upper thighs come from a Chaos Havoc launcher - I got the idea from a chap calling himself Klausmasterflex who has done an incredible Iron Hands army which some of you may have seen. The lower legs are from the big cog bits that the gun is supposed to be rotated on from the basilisk kit, the backpack is basically an IG vox-caster backpack. The servo arm comes from the loader servitor from the Sisters of Battle Exorcist kit, and the power claw and feet come from my bits box - I'm not sure where I got them.

I've also finished the painting the Trojan Chimera - this is probably going to be a command vehicle:

The build and basecoat on what I'm tentatively calling the 'Peltast Class' Hydra are finished now, and I'm ready to start painting it to look properly mucky!

As usual, comments and criticism are more than welcome.

Impressive amount of items in the update. First off, love the Trojan/Chimera. It looks fantastic. Secondly, I really like the design on the Hydra Variant. Its awesome looking.
Thirdly, the infantry are very cohesive and I appreciate your letting us know how you did them. Sounds like alot of work but worth it in the long run considering your choice results!

I can only second what razormasticator alraedy said, great update !
Like the worn look on both the vehicle and the troopers, gritty.
150g sounds like thats alot of watch parts. Great idea, they must come in handy allover this army.

Your skill at weathering is simply amazing, there is nothing but inspiration in this thread. I love the MoO too, wonderful concept.

Yeah, you really need to tell us how you did the infantry, especially the cadians. I love them!

@nebulushoax: I'm currently assembling the next batch of infantry, so I'll start taking photos as I go. It's not quite as involved a process as it sounds, honest! I'm too lazy to do anything too complicated.
