Re: Saardis IG & Admech thread

Time for a mini-update. I've spent most of my time assembling things and trawling through my bits box for interesting odds and ends, but I have managed to do a bit of work on the Peltast class Hydra.

I've also started playing about with some bits to create what I think will probably end up as a Magos Militant or Skitarii Tribune:

    Torso

    One of the legs

Those watch parts are already coming in useful, as you can see!

I've been having a little break from painting today, and have concentrated on my Skitarii Tribune. May I present Tribune Max von Mises!

There's still lots to do on this guy: the very next thing I'm going to do is greenstuff under the white plasticard covering half of his face. This will get some rivets and other greebles to make it look more like an armoured gorget (I think that's what neck armour is called - someone let me know if I'm wrong). There are also various gaps which need filling, and obviously I'm going to give him some servo arms. I was thinking of equipping one of them with a sort of art deco sci-fi raygun, and for the other I'm going to use the servo arm which came from the old metal Techmarine I robbed the axe from. I'm also going to do something with the top of the head, which I've accidentally made too flat, so some kind of gribbly cables going into his brain might make an appearance. For scale purposes, when you stand him on a base he's a head taller than my Master of Ordnance model, and is nearly twice as tall as a Kriegsman. I'm going to have to put him on a Terminator base, otherwise his feet overlap too much and he looks silly.

He's about twice the height: I'm going to put some more pics up soon. I am currently working on the servo arms.

Some more pics of my Tribune. I'm aiming to get him finished this weekend, along with some more troops and the Hydra.

Sorry for the lack of updates recently, I've not been very well. However, I've been OK enough to get some work done on a few things...

    Peltast hydra:

I have to do a very thinned out black enamel wash next, followed by a dirt wash. After that, rust.

I'm thinking about doing a Chimera with Zimmerit coating next. I've seen Bungaroo's Leman Russ with Zimmerit, does anyone think it would look too weird? If you're not sure what I'm banging on about, please follow this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zimmerit

I've also finished the assembly of my Skitarii Tribune... ...or at least I've asked my girlfriend to hide it from me until I lose the urge to stick cogs on things...

I have no idea how I'm going to paint this.

    Good morning,

    More tanks!

I've got a lot more done on the Peltast/Hydra now - it isn't too far off being done, and you can get a good sense of what the finished vehicle will look like.

I've also begun to build the zimmerit-armoured tank. I know it looks a little funny now, but I think it will look OK when painted. I've put a link above to the wikipedia article on zimmerit to give people an idea of what it looks like in real life and what it was for.

So there you go! All comments welcome.

Teh Zimmerat is really well done. I do not think it looks funny at all. Very nice.

Re: Saardis IG & Admech thread

Hello there. I've been busy getting back into work and the gym, so please forgive me for not updating regularly / doing anything on this project. Anyway, I've just about finished the Peltast Hydra, so without further ado, here are some more pics:

I'm really pleased with the stripy cable! I've never tried anything like this before and was pleased with how it came out.

Re: Saardis IG & Admech thread

A few posts back some people were asking about how I do my troops. Here are a couple of pics of some at the first stage:

They are primed white, then the 'cloth' parts of the uniform are inked in a range of colours. When I've got the next stage done I'll post them. As you can see, I've also managed to prime up the Master of Ordnance, here are some closer pictures:

I'm going to go with chipped and weathered grey armour (like the helmets of the Krieg and Cadian troops), and cables of various colours.

    All comments are welcome!

I'm thinking he'll be going mostly grey, but with metallics on the joints and cogs, with red on the cogwheel symbol of the leg. The hoses will probably be blue and yellow. I want to make his skin look unhealthy and mottled.

Here's some more pics of what I'm calling the 'Zimmer Tank'. I'm wondering whether I should put it on the top surfaces as well: what do you think?

Re: Saardis IG & Admech thread

I did a bit more work on 'Mr Clockwork' - my Master of Ordnance this afternoon:

I'm thinking that the gas tank will be yellow, to tie it in with the gas bottles on the Cadian respirators. Most of the hoses on the chest will probably be blue. I'm not sure about the servo arm with the satellite dish - I might re-do that in grey with gold pivot points to make it look more like the mechanism of the legs. I've tried to make it look like he's got a typical mechanicus red paint scheme underneath the grey 'war paint.'

I'd be interested to hear anyone's opinons about this: I'm planning to do the whole command squad with conversions like this one, so I'm trying to find a way to tie them into the paint scheme of the army, whilst still keeping a distance from the rank and file troops.

Master of ordnance looking very good, cool idea to have him in combatpaint
As im colorblind, no advice from me on the colors and matching
