Which troop type has the shortest life expectancy?

    ...in battle.

Possibilities could include Goblin Doomdiver, Snotlings, or Skaven Slaves. The Doomdiver is probably dead the moment he hits the ground, however since only 1 goblin can fire per catapult at a time some won't get to fire themselves until the very end of the battle or if there is a surplus some might not get fired at all. Snotlings and skaven slaves are basically just used as cannon fodder on the front line. Snotlings are unbreakable so no chance of running away, meanwhile the slave might be able to run away but he would only live for a few more hours since the warlords would catch and kill him after the battle. Either way chance of survival is very minimal.

    Any other ideas?

I would say skaven slaves. I think the Ogres appriciate the Gnoblars more then Skaven appriciate their slaves. I mean the gnoblars are useful for cooking and eating.

    Skaven Artillerist, chance of survival...slim
Goblin Doomdiver, chance of survival...minimal, though there are tales of survivors
Goblin squigbait, chance of survival...pray for a quick death
Wizard with forbidden rod, chance of survival...as good as any ritual sacrifices

warhounds and dire wolves. Every time I encounter them in a game they're all dead at the end of turn 1.

I'd say skavenslaves since they're used to be killed in order to let other survive.

Actually, I don't remember how it is in the current armybook, but in the previous ones, it was stated that the goblins did survive more often than not, and would rush back to the machine if possible because the experience was so fun. I suppose goblins have T10 when falling from the sky.

In the previous one when they landed they just caused a horrid mess as they splat into green goo on the ground and survival wasn't really mentioned. In the current book they apparently.. bounce, and survive.

Re: Which troop type has the shortest life expectancy?

Kislev horse archers used to have an epically low life expectancy back when they were in the Empire list. Perhaps that's what happened to them - they just stopped showing up for work until conditions improved.

Ah yes I forgot goblin fanatics, survival chance almost zero. Even if he doesn't get killed normally he will eventually collapse and die.

Craze_b0i: Well, that's what happens when you overdose on psychoactive mushrooms, grab a massive flail and decide to go kill someone.

Back on topic: I'd say that Snotlings have the lowest life expectancy (taken as individuals, not the abstractions we paint and varnish). As a horde, they would be really annoying, like mice with knives. By themselves, however, they would probably squish like over-ripe grapes.

They bounced and survived in the 4th/5th ed book too. The 6th ed book had most of the fluff shortened, so I'm not surprised it's missing.

Actually he may "collapse in an exhausted pile with a silly grin on his face" (4th ed armybook). Kindda like after sex?

Quoted directly from the book. They also add the alternative of killing themselves with the chain or hitting a tree. Clear difference.
