Who is the cheapest stockist of Warhammer - Can you find a better deal?

Hi guys,

Just doing a bit of catching up around the resellers of warhammer out there.

I have just been reading my VC army book and so need a few more of the new minis

x2 boxes of crypt horrors + a Mortis Engine........ they both sell for over the odds on Ebay so i've been looking around as to where i can get the best deal.

Dark Sphere comes up trumps if i can get into London as they offer 25% off and no postage charge if you collect.

If i can't get into London which is very possible then the next best shout is Marauder Games for the price and then going to Maelstrom for there Price Match.

Marauder Games offer 20% off + free delivery

There are a few online stores who offer 25% off however i can't find a single one who does 25% off and free postage - can you?

So the 5% difference + postage (£4.99 was the quoted P&P) still makes Marauder Games the cheapest.


Then the lovely people at Maelstrom Games will price match any online store and beat it by a penny.



Price is: £75.20 from Marauder Games so with Maelstrom it would total £75.19

Who can find me a cheaper price then Marauder Games (Total) .........?

well of course, any company which will price match & beat will come out cheapest by their nature, they can't not win

though I gave up on Maelstrom when they managed to mess up a relatively simple paints & brushes order twice

I get what you mean but i need to price match against the best and the best seems to be Marauder Games...... that is who i'm trying to beat hence the £75.20 is the Marauder price.... not the Maelstrom

If the gain is just a penny, the hassle of going through a price-matching process doesn't really seem worth it.

The main thing is........... where is the cheapest for this order? the £75.20 seems unbeatable

That's stupid!...
If you find the cheapest store... buy in that store (especially if you're located in the same country where laws may help you if there are troubles)... what's the point getting 1 penny more?
I like Maelstrom and I buy them a lot of stuff but if I find cheaper elsewhere I buy elsewhere... If you don't do that, you end up killing their competitors and they are going to be solo (and that the point of that penny trick... ) so they can begin to raise price (they will always be cheaper than GW ..) or make less interesting offers...

I think your 20% off + free delivery is about as good as you will ever get. The reason is any cheaper and it just isn't economically viable for the seller.

Look at it this way, you get the product for approximately 50% of RRP, you need to add VAT and also other cost(rent, staff etc) not to mention some profit to make the business worth running.

To be honest if you are that concern about cost it is always cheaper to not buy anything at all

Completely see your point and actually i may use Marauder Games as Maelstrom have been slated a lot recently.

Of course i don't want to make anyone bust - just wondered if there is a better deal to be had........... but it seems that for this order no company can outright beat Marauder Games (without cheating with the price promise)

I suppose there is also the aspect of who can get it to you faster, some companies work purely on-order and others have very large stock holdings, the latter will be able to get it to you within 3-4 days and the former 1-2 weeks, the latter will of course cost a little more for the privelage but can be useful.

Timing doesn't bother me at all, i don't have a need for them, just a want so then i can play my undead using the list i want

Afterthought:

One point which may justify supporting Maelstrom Games (over price):

In this interview they seem to be really cool people: they have hired one ex-Rackham and are planning their own game...
Moreover they have such a range of cool non GW mini... that's a dream... or a nightmare for the wallet ('get caught a couple of time)

Anyway I have always hated these 1 penny cheaper trick! (and it has been proven that once the 1 penny trick dealer gets big enough he can negotiate the price or manage that some competitors never got supplied...)

Another reasons to buy from Maelstrom games: they are very good at troubleshooting... by the way there is a 25% discount at the time being (but you must know 'cause their site is nearly down...)+ Free shipping...

I'm not sure about whos cheapest, but Maelstrom are quite good for their tier discounts and regular special offers, however delivery times are seriously unpredictable, i've had an order stuck in processing now for nearly 3 weeks due to out of stocks on plastic marines, which as GW's poster boys makes no sense whatsoever

Fair point on the plastic marines as thats a core GW line, I do find thought that usually long waits are down to a combination of the retailer having just run out or not holding stock and upon ordering the supplier suddenly saying "woops, we forgot to make enough this week" so it seems most places are at the mercy of the suppliers - who give really crap information 9 times out of 10 as to whats in stock and whats not.

Thats a fair point, but seems very strange as Maelstrom is based in Nottingham, so they have direct access to the HQ. Its just disapointed as I've used them several times and neer waited more than 10 working days for items befor, and that was a KR multicase which I did'nt mind so much. But this order has put starting a new army on hold completely, which is frustrating to say the least

If Maelstrom don't have things in stock you could be waiting a very long time. So I would only recommend using them if they have items in stock! Wayland can be good sometimes.
