    He looks a little bit...short.
It's also a little difficult to make out individual details as the thing is a bit of a cluster****, but it's not too bad.
I'm just grateful it's not another bloody greenskin or Dwarf.

    Chaos Dwarf of Nurgle?

He does seem short...I'd have to see him lined up next to another model. Also, ew, that's way too many tentacles coming out of its face.

Hes quite possibly on a 20mm base so i suppose you could make a comparison on size like that.

I think he just looks really fat.

Excellent miniature, even when compared to GW's latest Nurgle hero on foot. I'm sure the Lord of Pestilence is mounted on a 25 mm base, although he's probably deliberately sculpted a bit short to emphasise obesity.

Felix could have made him the same height as the other lord and still make him look fat.

As it is his legs look too short.

I don't think he looks that short, but that the fatness is deceiving. That said, I don't really like how it looks, frankly.

Agreed, not a big fan of this one. The AoW crew seem to have a tendency for overdetailing their chaos miniatures, this one is far too busy without any defining focal points. His pose and weapons are uninspired, and the proportions of the miniature detract from its menace.

I'm a big fan of AoW's take on chaos miniatures. As a matter of fact, I intend to take the majority of my hobby spending to AoW because of the high level of detail.

I disagree with you on most accounts. Personally, I find the weapons to be quite full of character (although I don't like them; they're too thick IMO), and the simple pose compliments the model's complexity. The face is a good defining focal point. As is the chest. I don't think it's possible to fairly judge whether the proportions on the model will detract from its menace until we see it next to another model. He could be fairly tall, after all; in which case the girth will probably add to the menace. It's just too soon to say.

    Edit:

Oh; check this out. looks like he is a little short. Not dwarf sized, but short.

I like the shorty, although it's easy to understand why some people will be offset by the height. In my book, his head is a strong focal point, and the mini would have suffered from a less interesting head.

Height implies health and that's why most nurgle/pestilence characters are stunted. Of course there exceptions but generally it's a great visual cue for demonstrating disease

    Re: AoW46 Lord of Pestilence

With this model out, do we think the next Chaos box set will be a Nurgle/Plague one?

45 was a lord (Lord of Apoc) which fitted with the first lot (Warriors of Apoc) so im thinking box set 2 will be plaguey (Warriors of Pestilence?)

Well, there's already a Lord of Torment, too, which I believe was the Slaanesh analog for WarCast (or am I mixing that up?).

    Re: AoW46 Lord of Pestilence

I read somewhere that the next set of warcast are either already done or close, but he can't take orders for a few months because of the long backlog with the current apoc.

I really, really hope that they are pestilence and NOT little short guys like the lord.

Incidently, has felix stopped showing WIP shots now? I used to enjoy commenting on models and suggesting changes.

    Re: AoW46 Lord of Pestilence

I think it's a great model with some characterful detailing.

A slightly raised base and a bit of a neck would easily offset any difference in height. I'll probably pick one up when they release their pestilence warriors.

And it's even a bigger thrill to see those changes applied.

It's good, but if it's between this one and GWs plastic model, I'm going GW

now its prob metal so i wont get him, but if he resin i would. as i prefer to work on resin with this osrt of detail. i like his short-ness. and i think its a nice sculpt, yes a little busy in areas but we cant always have a perfect mini.
