Galadhrim army help

LotR or WotR army list: LotR

My local GW is running a small tournament type day where everyone plays three games for points.( lotr) I play galadhrim and have since I started and so i am decently experienced though I am more of a wotr player. I have come up with two lists that I think would work.I am probably going to play a mordor army, a isenguard army, and a easterling army with a Mumak. There is a chance that the isenguard army will have saruman, or be composed of only crossbows and berserkers.

My two lists are:
rumil
4 galadhrim warriors with elf blades
3 Guards of the galadhrim court


stormcaller
1 galadhrim banner
8 galadhrim warriors with spear/shield

Haldir-cloak,armour,bow
8 galadhrim warriors with bow
495 pts 7 might

And number 2

Rumil
5 GotGC
3 galadhrim with elf blades

Stormcaller
10 galadhrim with elf bow ------ 3 have spears

Galadhrim cpt-shield
11 galadhrim warriors with spear/shield
32 models 6 might 500 pts
so both have decent might stores though the 2nd has more models
thoughts?help?advice?

Both lists look ok, I would advise that you swap out some of those galadhrim with spears and switch to wood elves to save some points. You will have a smaller force than almost any evil opponent so be sure to pick your battles carefully. Do you know what scenarios you will be playing?

I would try something like this, if you wanted a banner drop 2 GotGC and one bow/spear.

My plan with the shield/spears was to make a strong but potentially weak(defense wise) shield all while my other war band protected its flanks and killed monsters/cpt's and other nasty things while the archers shoot and capture objectives. I prefer the normal haldir so I have a shooty type hero and he is also my favorite model. The second one seems preferable because of the model count for me. Im a little,unsure about wood elves because they die so easily and there is only a three model difference. I have never really used them before so do you know how good they are? Also should i play more of an ambush type of fighting or a head on style?
Any thoughts on elf cavalry?

The scenarios will be randomized as far as I know.

Don't take any cavalry, at 500pts they will eat into your numbers too much. Wood elves would fair the same as galadhrim w/o no shields vs s2 shooting, in h2h the wood elves are more vulnerable to s3, but galadhrim +/- shield suffer s3 wounds the same. The throwing weapons are one reason to take wood elves, they will really pay for themselves and are used earlier in the game now since the new rules changed the deployment.

The spears on the wood elves allow them to shield as well, my list has 19 models capable of shielding (23 if you count the GotGC) while your 2nd list has only 11(16), it list also has both haldir( you can take regular one and add cloak to get the same points) and rumil as well as 7 might.

How play will be determined by what army you are against and the scenario, but generally, since you have better shooting( except for harad ) you want to shoot as much as you can before engaging and then use your non spear archers to pick off supporters/banners. Just keep the victory conditions in mind and pick your battles. I got shot up pretty bad last night by a harad/farharad army, but once I got into combat I was winning all the fights and broke them pretty quick. I lost my storm caller, haldir and rumil before the end of the game, but shot a dragon enough to wound it and make it flee. My opponent had the shadow lord so my shooting was pretty ineffective. Had no choice to to run to him since I could not win the shooting war.

The other thing is I only have 2 wood elves painted because I'm making a galadhrim wotr army that can go up to 4000 points.
Thoughts?
Is a banner worth it for elves at 500pts?
