Since the other thread regarding them was closed... the Fireborn are up for Preorder now: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuf..._FIREBORN.html
It's good to see clearer pics of them, and I particularly like that you can interchange not only the arms, but also the 2 body parts.
Indeed, some nice models. Again, WF delivers. I would have loved painted models though, as it is pretty hard to make out a lot of the details with only the bare resin models.
Haven't seen this in the thread yet but can't understand the logic that Empire are Kinship to Griffons yet High elfs are bound.
Could if the two set of Griffons "Imperial Turkeys" as in the new Empire book and the normal High Elf/Wild one, but just by sheer logic the High Elfs affinatey to "nature" (Tree huggers both them and Wood Elves), would be,
Yes non-kin to the Bernard Matthews battery farm Griffons that the Empire use, as they are "unatural" but those akin to Stormwing would be ...
I understand the game mechanics mean that GW want it that way, but it's just the logic of the background not they yet again seem to abandon.
Oh well "rant" over, just need to scuplt the Phoneis for the wife's Heigh Elf army![]()

Darnok: "I would have loved painted models though, as it is pretty hard to make out a lot of the details with only the bare resin models. "
That seems particularly true with these models.
I suppose others will have thought of this by now but I'm gunna say it anyway,
Those Fireborn would make nice C'tan.
for those who have read the book (its on my shopping list), if you want to take skin wolves in a game, what are the army selection rules in the book and how similar are they to the trial rules?
You can take Skin wolves with any army (like with the rest of the monsters) though they are restricted to Adhorrent (1 model only ) for all except for Beast Men and Warriors of Chaos being kinship and Binding Scrolls for Deamons, Dark Elves, vampire counts and chaos dwarfs.
comparison to trial rules sorry could really see

so what does kindship mean, special, just curious if it worth me taking them as skin wolves or doing them as count as modelsif kinship meant they count as rare then it might not be worth me getting the book as I have a certain type of list planned

The description is " Kinship assume that you may have as many of these monsters as you like, within the limits of your monster and magic allowance...."

The rules are basically for taking them in Storm of Magic games or in the special scenarios that are in the book. They don't count towards anything in normal army selection, only as magic and monsters selection in the SoM games. However there is nothing stopping you asking the people you are playing if you can use them as a rare choice in an army. After all it's a game and meant to be fun, adding something new to an existing list can only be a good thing![]()
Oh ok, when I read the description it mentioned using them in normal games of warhammer, I assumed it would give you ideas on how to do this, rare wouldn't be much use to me, I wanted to use 12 of the guys! its no biggie really, I will just have to decide if I want to use them as Minotaur count as or dragon ogre count as, you guys just saved me some cash![]()
You can
There are new non-storm of magic scenarios for "normal" games of Warhammer in the book. One of which which I think is called monstrous confrontation gives each player an extra monsters (possibly and magic - will need to check) allowance of 25% (or 50% if both player wish) on top of their standard army points value.
"monstrous confrontation" ....The Armies ...pre agreed army points level.... both players may purchase binding scroll up to a value of 25% of the totalarmy value
another sceanrio "the Quest" one player is geroic on monstrous " onstrous player " MUST take a single binding scroll from SoM or MA books wth no need to pay the points, scroll is for a single monster and not unit..... (other rules)
rest of sceanrio have binding scrolls included in some part of army make up with out have to use SoM rules

Oh I see so basically its just another allowance, I will have to try that out, I really want to use 12 skin wolves
cheers for the help guys![]()
Use them as counts as in normal games Logn, the models are frikkin awesome anyway!
