Thread: Monstrous arcanum

    Re: Monstrous arcanum

Releasing a second (and probably more) tome seems to make sense if you take the time to notice the book description. It says "This is the eagerly-anticipated first book in a new series from Warhammer Forge". Maybe the dropped the original plan to make a mega book of 90+ monsters in favor of a number of books. So we should look forward to a Monstrous Arcana II and III (?), unless they change their plans in the meantime (tamurkhan was supposed to be the first of four books as I recall).

Glad to see they're continuing the fantastic artwork/layout/cover from Tamurkhan... this line of collector's books is going to be murder on my wallet.

I like the color scheme they used on the basilisk.

Will all the models actually be released? Does it say that anywhere? I didn't get that notion from watching the vid.

    Re: Monstrous arcanum

When I first spoke to the book design team at UK games day and the sculptors the plan was to have most of the beasties ready for the book release.

I guess the plan change so we have a few of these monsters but not all of them.

The book looks amazing! Can not wait to get my hands on it, and some of these great models. I think it's smart to break down what was 90 monsters in one book, into separate books, spaced out between more Tamurkhhan (sp?) style campaign books. They can keep thinking of more monsters, and really refine the best ones for the books. Plus, they can use monsters which they had made specifically for the campaign books as well. Either way, I'm glad I have been saving my money.

The Khemric titan does not have the "Nehekharan Undead" as well as "Animated Construct" rules...

This, this is very strange if I field it in my TK army

Only the flaw in that is that neither Forgeworld nor Games Workshop have a 100% rep of keeping to their promise. Most recent example is the FW Painting Masterclass Book 1, of which Book 2 probably will never ever see the light of day. Another great example is the Lustria setting book, of which I am pretty certain they also promised it would be one in a series of books.

So don't simply expect them to make a series just because they are saying so.

That's probably why it have the Unbreakable and Unstable rules, more generic rules so you don't have to have an specific army book to use it.
Vampire Counts Army : At least 4000pts built, much more waiting for some love!
Tomb King Army : About 6000 pts of troops, all that is left is painting!

Looking good will definitely pick up a copy soon as they make it to the local GW stores.

Am I the only one thinking that Khemric Titan is awfully close in appearance to some of Blizzard's Scourge creations? hopefully they dont have copyright on giant undead bug things.

Does anybody have a clue how busy a Forgeworld day event is, don't want to drive for 2 hours and leave empty handed .

Erm... not sure what makes you think that, Book 2 is very much in development, in fact I'll be very surprised if they don't have samples on show at the Open Day.
