    MLP's infinite project log

This is my ongoing project log which will be featuring my current work-in-progress army. I will either be working on one army at a time or somehow consolidate what I'm doing in some kind of order here on the first page.

I'm currently working on Legion of Azgorh Chaos Dwarfs from the Forgeworld Tamurkhan book and plan to paint at least one of every unit in the army. Models will be forgeworld where possible or kitbash/conversions with occasional sculpting. Enjoy and please feel free to comment and critisise.

Sorcerer-Prophet Sculpt/Conversion based on artwork from Tamurkhan

Infernal Ironsworn with Castellans and Sorcerer-Prophet

    Castellan Battle Standard

    Infernal Ironsworn with Battle Standard

    Infernal Ironsworn Champion conversion

    Demonsmith Sorcerer

    Magma Cannon

    Hobgoblin Cuthroats using standard goblins

Hobgoblin Wolf Raiders conversion using chaos hounds and goblins

    The Legion so far

I can see a sugestion that stares me in the face : the connection points on plastic models are very visible, like the hound hair on their necks. What did You use to glue them together?

Yeah I agree. I wasn't too happy with how they turned out, but the palstic moulds just fit together quite openly. In hindsight I should've used Greenstuff to fill in the gaps, but I didn't notice it so much until I drybrushed them. I think the photo angle brings the worst out of it too.

I've updated the first post with better photos as the last ones were pretty crap.

Also finished off 30 Hobgoblin Cuthroats and a champion for the Ironsworn. The command pack from forgeworld doesn't have a champion so I just used a spare musician, sculpted some more beard and added a couple of weapons. I think he turned out alright!

My latest unit Allied with my Chaos Dwarfs: Ten Nurgle Chaos Warriors Converted to have great weapons. I don't know why but I just feel that Nurgle Warriors should have great weapons. A pretty simple conversion just using the additional hand weapon option with some cutting and gluing at the right angle.

@Shadow _Steed: Thanks! I really enjoyed painting them actually. The armour is just a mix of 2/3 Orkhide and 1/3 gretchin green then highlighted up with a deneb stone or similar. The rusty weapons were undercoated in 50/50 blazing orange and tin bitz then pure orange in some places. Then it was sort of tactically drybrushed with boltgun metal before a wash of gryphione sepia. Finally it was highlight(in places were the weapon would strike) with chainmail.

@New Cult King: cheers, they took ages and the only part I enjoyed painting was actually the weapons! I'm actually in the process of redoing the chaos dwarfs armour and changing the battle standard and I'm not happy with them.

MLP did you remove pictures from the log? Cause I can't seem to find any Nurgle Warriors here.

Anyway, nice job on your forge world goodies. I especially like your white-hot weapons and your banners.
Are you gonna get the K'daii fireborn? I think they'd fit in perfectly with your color scheme.

For some reason photobucket removed them! They are back now a few posts up.

Yes i'll be getting firenborn! Hopefully converting a destroyer as well. But it wont be for a little while yet if got too much to paint as it is! Next up should be Infernal guard with Fireglaives.

EDIT: Added Castellan Battle Standard and Horde photo in first post.

In the meantime here's some of my older photos:

Bertonnian Men at Arms with Damsel

    Stone Troll

Latest finished model, I've gone for a different look compared to the Magma cannon using more blue beards and paler stone coloured skin.

That Chaos Warriors are great, really well painted, and as about Your last post, I really like theirs blue beards

PS: Did You think about adding vains on their grey skin, and maybe some purple wash (I think that it will make them more natural, and vains are always cool )

    ..anyway...Good job!

I particularly like the bretonnian lady, Marco Columbo, and the nurgle warriors. The banner on your chaos dwarf BSB is really well executed, and I admire your skill in pulling off that conversion/build of a chaos dwarf sorceror.

I only hope that with a thread title like "MLP's INFINITE project log", you haven't jinxed yourself.

Grain Weevil: Thanks! I'm really happy with the Chaos Warriors. Good Idea with the veins and wash, I shall definitely give it a go. I think the crew have to be the focus as the war machines are boring!

Purplebeard:Cheers, I actually painted Marco Collumbo about 4 years ago but thought I'd stick him in! Glad you like my conversions too. Well with the title I thought it was apt as I've been collecting/painting 15 years and always different stuff!

I shall have to save some photos of painted minis and put them in my will to be posted here in the event of my death.

Great start to the log, and I love how your style changes from force to force. This thread has been a real treat so far, especially the chaos dwarf unit!

Thanks lorelorn, Glad you're enjoing it!

Here are my Bull Centaurs. I've modified the body positions with greenstuff and changed some leg positions to try and make them a bit less static, hopefully they look like they're charging over the rocks which is what I was going for. I do plan on doing a second rank when I get hold of some more models. The one on the left will be used as my Taur'ruk for no other reason other than I like his hat.

With the imminent release of Warriors of Chaos I'm in the ToFP with my Nurgle themed force. So here's my Slightly Nurgled(he's pretty resilient) Dragon Ogre Shaggoth.

Next I have a new finecast Hellcannon for my chaos dwarfs, so hopefully that'll be done soon because I want to test it out.

The skin on that shaggoth's upper body is amazing! Mind sharing the recipe?

Thanks! He recipe was pretty simple actually although I can't remember the colours exactly. I started with a dark purple undercoat and slowly built up layers mixed with skin colour. I did my brush strokes in the way I imagined the sinews of the muscle as well to help the effect although I'm not sure how well you can see that in the photos. I then gave certain recesses a dark reddish wash.

Here's what I've managed to paint over the last few months, some forgeworld Nurgle Chaos Ogres. It's not the best photo though.

    Attachment 166112

I've also bought some Forsaken and Plague bearers which I'm currently in the process of kit bashing with warriors to make nurgle chosen/warriors and use the left over plague bearers as forsaken.
