Re: Tale Of Skirmish Painters season 2 - April WIP

So much great work so far on this thread.. and some ambitious projects being undertaken also..

For me, it will be to continue on with my Infinity Nomads list.. though I was contemplating to switch it up to Scibor Ogre 54mm models, along with the odd bust.. but I think I best keep to Infinity as I wouldn't mind getting back into them.

Here is one that is already finished.. and what quality I am going for.. hopefully I can keep it up.. as the interventor I am working on currently is not looking so great..

After the interventor ( or instead of ) I will go with the Pupniks and Chimera models. Absolutely great models, and incredibly deadly in the game to boot so.. Hope to get photos up soon enough and some work done on them..

    Cheers

This is all looking rather good so far. I got a little sidetracked from the goal of painting Infinity miniatures - been painting Sarissa buildings for my club's demo game and old Heavy Gear miniatures instead. I'll try and get some photos of those up in the next day or two.

Re: Tale Of Skirmish Painters season 2 - April WIP

A small update, I am on very unfamiliar ground with these bright combined with dark colours. But it is fun to experiment:

I think the blue lines around the eyes bind them better.
I added some highlights of the brightest green, but will have to tidy up the upper body and arms.
Some green was washed to the whirlwinds.

    Improved or too loony toony?

By the way I still cannot think of a better colour than pink for the flowers I want to add to the bases, somebody help me...

I think red or orange might look good, especially since it would match the vaettir's eyes and mouths. Blue-ish or lavender could also look good.
The great thing about the dwarves is that, even though there's this comic element, when they fight - they really fight!

really liking what people are painting, ill echo what others have said too that its nice too see so many diverse minis being done

@ Littlejoe - really like the eyes almost glowing !
@ Grisnik - very nice, nothing says sci fi more than blue hair !!

ok my work so far, it'll pretty much answer Gomez's question about the Time Lift Security - not sure who this Captain Scarlet Fellow is, sounds like my Captain RedGore may have a rival in the works though !!

got the flesh and the grey bits done, just need to decide on which colour to do, leaning toward red, blue and an evil looking black.......(oh these were taken whilst wet btw, wash has now dried nicely and look a lot better !)

youll also see other things im working on in the background, some US Paratroopers and a Time Travelling Physician in disguise along with a bloody family and some armed schoolboys......

They certainly look unearthly Little Joe and I'd agree the highlights around the eyes really do improve them, they give more focus to the faces.

Looking forward to seeing those Heresy Troopers painted up Bubbatron as am sorely tempted by those myself.

I was hoping to paint my hunter model from Warploque for this month but with our new son sleeping a bit up and down at the mo I haven't had the time to finish the last project. So, I should be starting with a couple of objectives for my Dark Eldar Scourge Kill Team; a crashed Venom with a data core counter and a Comms Array; these are for a couple of scenarios I've created for a coming Kill Team tournie at my LGC. Pics to follow soonish...I hope.

@Gomez - I can get a better shot of the cabers, but it's very simply codex grey washed with devlan mud for a stone effect.

@Grisnik - nice work so far. What's with the down arrow on the base?

@Bubbatron - very interested to see how the Heresy troopers turn out. I'm at least interested in buying the officer kit for conversion, but I do like the standard troopers.

Couple of WIPs from the weekend from me.

Nomad - since this shot he's pretty much done. I just need to figure a symbol to paint onto the shield.

Started the Priest. Not done a great deal more apart from wash the skin.

    Then the next finished figure

For my Freebooter's Fate Brotherhood. Very nice and quick to paint. Given her occupation I'm loathe to give her an identifying embroidery etc. Started on the Harlequin now to go with her and Coscritti.

I suspect I'll have Epic Grissell done this weekend as I'm down to detail work on her now the tartan, skin and armour are all done. Then the weekend after I get new supplies as it's Salute.

I've gotten some work done so far this week. I'll try to get some stuff up later. School's picking up (I got some done earlier, so I'm still on track).

    That's some good progress Keravin.

@Bubbatron; What ruleset do you play your WW2 games? I've got some of my 28mm Canadians up on my random project plog. I'm currently using the Rules of Engagement set with a friend of mine.

@Grisik; Looks good, I'm looking forward to what else you put forward over the next few weeks!

Re: Tale Of Skirmish Painters season 2 - April WIP

@Keravin.. It is to nominate where the front point is. As you can only see in the front 180 degrees for reactions on some models. Need to make this more clear though, as this was a temporary piece.
Nice WIP on the Priest also. The finished one looks great.. a bit dark but great all the same.

    @Basher.. great zombie!

@Bubbatron.. nice start there.. great chance to do some amazing blending on those guys with all the flat surfaces..

@Kisanis.. thanks.. hoping I can recapture that quality as it was painted a year ago..

Just got my resin bases for the rest of the gang.. so will begin to dust a few of them off and get back at them. Pictures in the coming days/week

Re: Tale Of Skirmish Painters season 2 - April WIP

I've finally remembered to take a photo of the stuff I'm working on in WIP stage for this seasons Tale's.

It's most of the models I've got currently assembled and based and in various stages of paint, for the new Leveticus Malifaux crew I'm collecting.

The picture includes 2 hollow waifs, 2 rotten belles, a bete noir, molly , 4 steam punk abominations, a canine remains, Leveticus himself, a watcher and a steam punk arachnid swarm.

There is no way I'd be able to finish all by May, but thought I'd share what was on my table.

    Cheers

Funniest/coolest line I've read on Warseer! And a pretty good description of the plogs above.

we use the Secrets of the Third Reich ruleset, its not a bad set of rules but is tailored more towards platoon level forces than a massive army i feel

@Easternhereic - thats some lovely work on the bases, nice idea using the cities of death lamppost too, ive been looking for a decent lamppost for my Ramos spiders to hang off !

got some slightly better pics of two im very happy with at the moment !

What I really like about this particular Tale is that there always is a bunch of stuff I've never seen before. That makes it interesting.

Here's what I'm working on at the moment:

They are pretty far along, just some minor tweaks and a few layers on the skin left to do. Oh, and Hamelin's dog, of course, which only has the base colour on as of now, but I hope that one will be done quickly.

I'm aiming for either the Grey Seer or the Weapon team for my end of month model.

I'm also going to be starting some RPG's this summer (Supernatural and Pathfinder namely)

This means some random Mini's may make their way into the collection.

Does anyone have any recommendations on where to get minis for modern style adventures??

@ Emperor Norton; I'm never disappointed with your painting; it merely makes me more disappointed at mine. (I was tempted to say it in German, but i figured it would be rude, and have terrible grammar)

@ All else, Thanks for helping make my first foray into a 'tale of..' good fun. I hope to keep involved beyond this run

Kisanis - sources for modern day adventurer types are people like Heresy, Hasslefree, and Reaper.
