    Yeld hiding ability

I'm a bit confused about the Yeld hiding ability with his wings.

If he makes a normal move in his movement phase, is he allowed to hide?

    This is from the rules:
"The chameleonic effect of its wings allows a Yeld to hide even if it is not behind cover; the Yeld simply remains
stationary long enough for its outline to disappear completely."

Almost makes it sound like he has to be stationary in the open, but it also sounds like he can just hide as normal.

    Thanks

The Yeld still has to follow the rules for a normal hide, which is allowed if making a move and not a "run" or charge. It simply means that the Yeld can use the same Hide rule as a ganger does but he doesn't need to be behind anything.

ah ok that's what I thought.

I'm still not sure how I'd use a Yeld though because his range isn't really that long.

So does this mean that the only way for a ganger to spot a Yeld if it is hiding is to move to within his initiative range of it? Even if it is in the open?

If so then the Yeld could walk right up to the gangers in the open and would be safe. Is this right?

It's a bit of a tricky one. The wings simply let you hide in the open. If you move out of cover, or fire a weapon you reveal yourself. And if a fighter is within (initiative) inches of you, they will also detect you. So as long as a yeld does not run, charge, or fire he can hide.

It's not such a smart thing to stay hidden and waltz towards enemies without any thought of staying in cover. They may decide to run at you, and they only have to get within 3 inches normally. Once one has detected you, the rest can shoot you to death.

With such small numbers, a Spyrer gang will generally have the lowest gang rating, and get to roll for scenario. If you get the option of choosing the scenario, go for ones with loot tokens or something else to draw the opposing gang out into the open. Place the loot tokens out in the open near a high point you have placed and get your Yeld up there asap. hide. overwatch. wait for them to come out into the open.
My Yeld has sat on his duff for 3 battles in a row while the other members of his hunt did all the work, but in our last fight, he scored 4 takedowns. Patience and the high ground.

Spyrers cannot choose those types of scenarios since they have no need for credits.

The most up to date rules I have for Spyrers state that they can normally only choose Gang Fight, Ambush, Hit and Run or the Raid. Hit and Run does have a scenario within it which involves Loot counters.

Yes, the Spyrers have no need for the creds, but it sure does draw out the greedy/cash-starved gangers into locations where they are vulnerable to Spyrer ambush.

Unluckily though I've found spyrers to be at more risk from lurking monsters as the members usually opperate more independently. My Spyrer gangs consist of one of each spyrer and a 2nd malacadon and TBH have found all members equally valuable.
