ARMY: The Sons of the Mountain, 2000 point Ogre Kingdoms Army

UNIT: Fenrisian Wolves (count as Sabretusks)

HIGHS: Nice alternatives to the official sabre tusks, much better posses and they go together quite well. I actually think they look better on cavalry bases, as when they’re ranked up together they look like their growling and snapping at each other. Painting was very simple to do, just a load of dry brushing and washing on the fur.


LOWS: I had given them leopard spots but wasn’t happy with how they turned out so I repainted them. Will probably go back at a later date and try again though, as they look a little bland now.

POINTS: 105

ARMY: Maw Gazers (2500 pts ogre kingdom)

UNIT: BSB

HIGHS:I reall like the model, its converted from a bull with some bits from the stone horn kit. I nicked the idea from a person on the ogre stronghold forum. Great fun to paint, and looks good with a unit.

LOWS: I would have like to get more painted this month, but I'm glad this guy is mostly finished

ARMY: Orcs & Goblins

UNIT: 4 spider riders (fifth was painted earlier), 1 snotling base and an orc big boss BSB

BUILD/CONVERSION: The spider riders are straight from the box, for the snotlings I converted a command group, and the battle standard was converted from a bloodbowl starplayer using a black orc banner.

HIGHS & LOWS: Finally finished some stuff that has been waiting for paint for far too long. Only 1 model left to do, and then I got everything that has been standing around without paint for more than 3 or 4 years done.

STILL TO DO: Done.

Army: Demons of Chaos

Unit - Bloodletters of Khorne and Herald of Khorne

Build/Conversion - Head and hand swap on the Herald, the bloodletters are a bit older than the new plastics.

Highs and Lows - I'll admit that yellow isn't my strongest color, but I'm still pretty pleased with how these came out. Almost at 2k with these guys, looking forward to being finished up with them. Have to do an army shot next month.

Points - 196 (96 for bloodletters, 100 for herald)

Total Points - 1889

Next Month - A few flamers probably, unless someone has a request.

Army - Nuffle's Irregulars (Dwarfs)

Unit - 16 dwarf trollslayers with giant slayer champion, 35 hammerers with full command, cannon

Build/Conversion - straight outta lynwood

Highs - I love painting dwarves. I sort of can't get enough of it. I've actually got another two units almost done. Somehow the little buggers just light up my evening.

Lows - Hammerers are a bit dull compared to, say, the rest of the army so far. But they're looking ok anyhow.

Points - 485 for hammerers, 191 for slayers, 90 for cannon, 766 total

Total Points - 1687

Next Month - Great weapon dwarves and hand weapon/shield dwarves - gotta bulk up the ranks somehow!

Army - Tomb Kings

Unit - Heirotitan and Icon Bearer

Builds/Conversions - Heirotitan inspired by something I saw online a while back, though I did opt to do without scales/staff so it can be used as a Necrosphinx. Icon Bearer is of course straight out of the package.

Highs - My first time trying a conversion that large. I'm pretty pleased with it.

Lows - Dumping a pot of black ink all over the heirotitan and painting it twice. Pretty unfortunate.

Points - 85 for icon bearer, 175 for heirotitan, 260 total

Total Points - 532

Army-Gront headchoppers ogres of Khorne

Unit- 6 mournfangs to bring the unit upto 10 strong
greasus goldtooth

Build/conversion-I converted a few of the mournfang riders to have minotaur weapons. Im quite proud of the unit champion with his mace and axe. King fatty was striaght out the box didnt do anything to him

Still to do- basing isnt done and i need to do a few bits of neatening up on a few things ive noticed in the pictures ie missed teeth few beards to neaten etc

Highs-love the mournfang models and enjoyed adding a few minotaur weapons.Greasus is a joy to paint and one of my favourite ogre models. I had to include him even though he sucks and doesnt fit in with my army theme at all!

Lows-Greasus` rules although with my mates we let him retain the too rich to walk rule from the last book so hes abit better! if anyones interested the rule gives him ogrecharge always march and 5 extra s2 attacks so hes abit better for his points!

Also if possible can I include Gronts special rules with my next entry and get your opinions on my pricing of him and things? rules and stuff like that arent usually in the tale so thought id ask before i post them here. Hes ended up at around 550 points and if i paint him for next month i need the rules to be correct pointswise

Also i got rid of the beastmen i just lost all enthusiasm for them but i managed to get 4 maneaters another butcher and hunter atleast 80 gnoblars 3 fw plague ogres £70 greasus skrag and a few ohter bits for them.My chaos ogres currently stand at around 13k points so im going to get as much done as i can over the tale!

Have completely lost all motivation and havent picked up a brush last 2 months.

Will try and get back in amongst it as the army was certainly taking shape. Hopefully post next month.

UNIT: Chief Turock!

HIGHS: Fun guy to paint. I liked converting him too.
LOWS: Dremeling off the metal to make the skull helmut fit nicely.

Dawi : 2000 POINTS (MEN)

UNIT: Thane with runic hammer and shield.

BACKGROUND/THEME:

BUILD/CONVERSION: No conversion, just the standard dude. He is the metal one though.

PAINTING: For the metal, chainmail, with a badab black wash then a chainmail drybrush, For the skin, Tallern flesh with an ogryn flesh wash and a dwarf flesh drybrush. The gold was gryphonne sepia over chainmail and the same yellow as the rest of my throng.

BASING: Was done the same as the rest of the Dawi.

STILL TO DO: Nothing.

HIGHS AND LOWS: Not really any highs this time round. I really struggled with this guy, even though I really like the mini. And the back of his cloak looks terrible so I won't be showing that.

Lizardmen : 2000 POINTS (Men)

UNIT: Skink Priest, Skink Chief, Scar-vet and 8 Cold-one riders.


BACKGROUND/THEME:

BUILD/CONVERSION: No conversions at all.

PAINTING: The skin is the same as my other skinks. I noticed I've forgotten to do the claws teeth and eyes too Oh well next month I'll have them done. Gold is gryphonne sepia over chainmail. And the cloak is a few different colours and I gave it a light drybrush of white as well.

BASING: Sand, painted black with a heavy vermin brown drybrush.

STILL TO DO: Just the base.

HIGHS AND LOWS: No highs or lows this month, as I've said in my other tales I'm struggling with motivation at the moment.

POINTS THIS MONTH: 635

Well, on spring break. I finally got to work on one of my pump wagons this weekend as well as get a couple games in.. the good news... I can almost start painting said pump wagon.. the bad news.. I have to study the rest of the week as well as watch the little one.. during the days, i might try to get some painting done since I won't be able to concentrate anyway. Joker for me for now, unless I can find someone who can perform miracles.
BTW, the games were aweful.. in a humerous way. First was against ogres which was pretty evenly matched until my savage horde got spooked. 2nd game was against high elves.... enough said, but I'd like to add that the comet of cassandora (sp?) is still quite nasty... like destroy half of the army nasty
