Army : Orcs and Goblins (MENS?)

Hey guys. Sorry if im posting a little late, big weekend. And apologies for the pictures in advance, i can't find my camera, so I've taken them on my phone.

Units : 1 Night Goblin Shaman (call him 85 points)
20 Night Goblins with nets (135)
20 Night Goblins with spears, 3 fanatics (165)
20 Night Goblins with bows, 2 fanatics (130)
    TOTAL: 515 points

    Dice roll : 3

Highs : Getting some models painted, 60 of those little buggers gone now. I figured I'd get as many done while my motivation is at it's highest. Pictures dont really do it justice, but Im very happy with how they've turned out. Was good to get some paint on some models after roughly a 2 year period.

Lows : Pretty sure i've still got around 60 of them left to paint. Also, bases, which ill proberly leave till last, and do them all at once.

Next Month: More NIght goblins, maybe a rock lobba or something

Sorry i didnt post last month i had two family funerals to attend and so didnt feel much like painting.

    MOMUS: Mens

    DICE ROLL: 6

    UNIT: Stegadon, EotG, skink priest

    POINTS THIS MONTH: 355

BUILD/CONVERSION: Nothing on the steg, the scarvets are converted from old models. My first time using GS.

HIGHS: I really enjoyed finally finishing the steg and the scarvets were so much fun. I used a guide that was in an old WD (for those of you who remember).

LOWS: Two funerals in one month was pretty sucky.

NEXT MONTH: My WIP is two naughty chaps, scarvets a go-go!

Re: The Tale of Fantasy Painters 2011-2012: Month 7 (Mar painting and Apr WIP

Oh, I'll start with the comments this month, it seems!

    Page 1:
@iamjack42: I like your painting style - the High Elves look great. The scale armour and the horses are particularly nice.
@azhagmorglum: I cannot dislike squigs, and yours look very very good so have to love them! I also like that you use other colours than red or other bright colours. Reminds me of the 6th ed. armybook. And as I said in your plog, the Wyvern is just fantastic! Really looking forward to it!
@Zark the Damned: Nice amount of stuff you managed to finish! Really like the various Ogres you used for your units. The City Militia ... do you play DoW with the armybook from DoWOnline?
@Fabius Bile: Interesting colour scheme on the hunter. I like it, very distinctive and well executed, especially the tiger pelt. Base also looks great!
@EmperorNorton: Hehe, I like the mountain of blue. The captain also looks good, very clean and solid paintjob!
@JackDaw: Aww, one of my favourite armies on Warseer! I agree, both conversion and painting on Hiroth came out very nice, a lovely miniature for a lovely army. Interesting idea for a hydra as well!
@juicytomatoes: Yay, more halflings, and this one looks good for sure! Neat painting and a great sculpt!

    Page 2:
@Laborious: Hehe, nice to see people who use them for Sabretusks. Lovely models and their bases came out very good! Might get a pack of wolves myself...
@Confessor_Atol: A fine choice for a conversion, came out very good. Painting is also nice, he will make a nice BSB for sure!
@Braad: Nice stuff! I really like the banner, and the spiderriders look great as well!
@doomscape (Daemons): Admit it, they're Plaguebearers in disguise! Nah, but anyways, they look good. The old models are nice and Skulltaker looks great in your colours!
@doomscape (Dwarfs): I don't find them dull, maybe they lack a bit of variation, but as a unit they look great for sure! Slayers also look very good, their hair is ace!
@doomscape (Tomb Kings): Impressive how much you got done this month! The Trygotitan is a great conversion idea and certainly is impressive! Good job!
@colonel kane trine: 10 Mournfangs? Whoa! They will have an impact for sure, and if not...you've got Greasus as well!
@Loki73: The Chief came out fantastically! Great conversion (What did you use for the head?) and the painting is also very good, especially the boar!
@perplexiti (Dwarfs): You did the Gold without actual using Gold? Nice idea (and execution)! I like the Thane, your choice of colours fits perfectly to the miniature.
@perplexiti (Lizardmen): I love the colour scheme of your Lizardmen! The Scar-Vet looks great, as do the Skink characters!

    Page 3:
@Knighta: I draw my hat, 60 Night Goblins in one month! That's more than I achieved in 10 years... And they look nice as well, good job!
@MOMUS: Cool to see that the old Lizards are once more put to good use. Also a nice EotG, I like the bright colours!

That's it for this month from me I think, I need to resupply me with old colours (Washes, Tallarn Flesh, Orkhide Shade) and get new primer in order to be able to finish this army properly!
Look upon us and Despair, for we are the End, the Decay of all things, the horror of rot and the blessing of plague.

    - That's a heck of a lot of dwarves for 1 month's painting lol

    Alright, comments time.

    Page 1:

@iamjack42: Good looking elves mate, those IoB sculpts are really nice.

@azhagmorglum: Awesome work man, they all just look so good.

@Zark the Damned: Wow! That's a power of work this month, well done. They look fantastic too, a really nice mix of different minis.

@Fabius Bile: Niiice, I especially like the tiger skin.

@EmperorNorton: It's a great mini and you've done it proud mate!

@JackDaw: Awesome conversion work man, mixing the d-eldar pieces in is working a treat.

@juicytomatoes: Awww, he's so cute, and deadly too I bet. And he also is painted fantastically well.

@Morkash: Nice work, they look great.

    Page 2:

@Laborious: Awesome, I love those sculpts, and you've done a superb job on them.

@Confessor_Atol: Nice conversion, it looks great.

@Braad: Wow! Nice bright colours and they look fantastic.

@doomscape: They look good in yellow man, well done. Great looking Dwarfs too, some nice old slayers in there too. Ummmm, wow! That Heirotitan looks awesome!

@colonel kane trine: Great work man.

@Loki73: Nice! The body paint on the boar looks cool man.

    Page 3:

@Knighta: Well done, that's a heap of gobbos. The skins nice and bright too.

@Momus: Good work mate, your steg especially looks great.

Re: The Tale of Fantasy Painters 2011-2012: Month 7 (Mar painting and Apr WIP

    Thanks everyone, for the comments!

    And here are mine:

    Pg 1:
iamjack42: Nice color scheme! The chariot is looking good.
azhagmorglum: That's some lovely painting you've done there. The army shot is fantastic!
Zark the Damned: Love the variation in the models used for the ogres. Dogs of War, you say? Love it! But which ruleset/army book will you be using?
Fabius Bile: The hunter looks frighteningly fierce! Hope the alliteration I used gets across how great a job I think you did on him
EmperorNorton: It's Christopher Lee! And an army of blue men? Will they be playing drums and staring out into the world in the eerie fashion like they do in real life?
JackDaw: Beautifully done! The character looks great, and the counts-as hydra is nothin
Morkash: Ah yes, it's hard to see due to the direct sunlight. Still, from what I can make out, the paintjob makes them look really gritty, which is very fitting for ogres. Great job!

    Pg 2:
Laborious: Great execution on the posing. It does indeed bring out the snapping and growling effect. This unit would really add to the look and feel of the ogre army.
Confessor_Atol: The bsb looks good! What is that he is carrying? The banner is suitably gargantuan
Braad: Those spiders look awesome, man! And good call on making the snotlings look like a unit on their own. Absolutely love it! Now I know why they don't let you quit on the TAles I completely understand how you feel about stuff lying around for a long time. The TK I painted for last year's tale and some of the stuff I am painting for this year's tale has actually been lying around for about 7 years now.
doomscape: Always good to see the older models still getting some love. Nice job on them! As for the hammerers, what do you mean they look ok? They look great all ranked up together! As do the slayers. The hierotitan is inspirational! I've done something similar in making my colossus, but I never thought about using the Nid part. Great thinking!
colonel kane trine: Wow, what size games do you normally play to field 10 mournfangs! Just the sheer size of it boggles the mind. Seeing them all ranked up together is really intimidating!
Loki73: That's some really nice, neat painting! Love the warpaint everywhere.
perplexiti: That is indeed a nice dwarf lord model. What made it difficult to paint? Great looking lizardmen too! Play some games with your armies! That always helps to boost motivation to paint
Knighta: Wow that's a lot of models painted this month! Congrats on that!
MOMUS: Have always liked the stegadon model. must feel great getting it done! Nice work! The basing is especially good.

@juicytomatoes: Thanks man. It was not so much the mini itself, more my attitude and lack of motivation for painting right now. I did struggle with the cloak as well, I tried to do the lines in black on a yellow cloak but my shaky hands are no good for the very fine lines I was trying to paint.

@perplexiti: Ah don't give up man! You're doing a great job! Get your pals together and play some games. That would make you feel reaaly good about how your armies look on the tabletop. It will also be good to realize the goal of painting an army. You'll get back your painting mojo just from playing with your impressively painted armies! And don't fret, you're not the only one to suffer from that dratted shaky hand syndrome...

@Confessor_Atol: will check out your plog then ... and funny comment you left for yourself

Re: The Tale of Fantasy Painters 2011-2012: Month 7 (Mar painting and Apr WIP

    Evening everyone
Right, the wee-man has been put to bed and I've got a cold beer in hand - it's comments time.

    Page 1
@ iamjack42 - that chariot looks ace, been a while since I saw it assembled as the Tiranoc version. Looking forward to seeing your stuff based up, think it will finish them off nicely.
@ AzhagMorglum - love those squigs mate - my favourite is the fleshy looking fellow at the back, there's some really nice blending there. Those black orcs are very nice as well.
@ Zark - that is a monstrous amount of stuff to get painted fella, well done. Nice variation in the units as well, really reinforces the mercenary feel.
@ Fabius Bile - Is that hunter converted entirely from left over bits from the Stonehorn? He looks ace.
@ EmperorNorton - looking forward to seeing more Empire bits, that captain is a great start, very clean crisp finish.
@ Great Horned Owl - sorry to hear of your loss mate, all the best from me and mine at this time.
@ Juicytomatoes - yay more japanese halflings! great model, great painting.
@ Morkash - nice looking unit of Ironguts, very beefy looking.

    Page 2
@ Laborious - nice choice of the lean mean wolves over the chunky cuddly sabretusks. That mustardy-yellow looks great against the snow bases.
@ Confessor Atol - great conversion there fella, nice paint job as well - the blending on the horns is very nice.
@ Braad - those spiders look ace, love the bright natural spider inspired look. The Bsb is a very nice conversion as well.
@ Doomscape - Nice work on the daemons, but the Hammerers and Slayers are the winners for me. The Slayers in particular look great, bright but muted. If that makes sense. The Heirotitan conversion looks awesome as well, very disturbing.
@ CKT - as ever a massive amount completed there. I'm not a fan of Greasus as a concept or the sculpt, but that large unit of Mournfangs is great.
@ Loki73 - great conversion, great paintjob. I think I've said it before but I really like the bright warpaint.
@ Perplexti - don't think I've ever seen that mini before, he's ace. And you've done a good job on him, don't worry. The lizardmen look good as well.

    Page 3
@ Knighta - kudos for getting so much painted this month.
@ MOMUS - the stegadon looks great, any chance of a close up on the howdah?
@ daismith906 - woo more blue ogres really nice work as always fella.

    And replies to you gents kind enough to comment my offerings;
    - Morkash - ah stop you glad to hear you're liking everything so much. Hiroth's definitely my favourite character so far.
    - Fabius Bile - cheers mate
    - Perplexti - thanks bud, the Dark Eldar range is a godsend for converting up Druchii, pretty much all the range can be used in some form.
    - Juicytomatoes - again, thanks for the kind words, but I have to ask - the hydra is nothin what? Don't leave me in suspense!
    - Confessor Atol - dark and moody is what I go for Glad to hear you look forward to my stuff so much.
    - Loki73 - creepy horror is another description I shall add to bleak, cold and moody - thanks

That'll do from me for now - in terms of wip this month I'm working on Corsairs. A unit of 35 including 2 fillers, a mage, a hero and an assassin. Won't get all of them done but the first 7 are finished and the next 7 and Mage ready for undercoating. There's some pics in my plog if you guys want to take a look.

    Cheers everyone
    Jack.

@huicytomatoes: Thanks man, I'm planning on getting some painting done tonight. With the missus at work and our kids with their grandparents I figured I'd put some tv shows or movies on in the background and do some stuff. Hopefully it's the painting mojo coming back online!

My models for the month are done but the contents of my room are currently in boxes around the house while my timber floors get sanded and resealed over the next week. So this will be a Joker for me.

I should be double posting next month to make up for it (although my Ogres are looking pretty pitiful on the table since I was going to be double posting this month to get them back on track).
