@azhagmorglum Great painting this week. The colors are so smooth, they’re just gorgeous.
@Zark the Damned An impressive amount done this month. I really like the Blue/Yellow scheme. Very well done, and the big unit is particularly intimidating.
@Fabius Bile Nice Hunter. I like the peg-leg.
@Emperor Norton Well done. I particularly like the skin tone. Very smooth.
@JackDaw Excellent as always. I like the usage of 40k models, you’ve incorporated them quite fluidly.
@Great horned owl I am very sorry for your loss.
@juicytomatoes Just a great model. I love the rosy cheeks.
@Morkash Very nice job. The models are very characterful and you have brought them to life!
Page 2
@Laborious Very nicewolvessabretusks. I really like the snow bases.
@Confessor_Atol Love the BSB. It does really look good, and is suitably impressive.
@Braad Nicely done O&Gs. I really like the blue on the banners.
@doomscape Bold choice with the yellow bloodletters. The copper is fantastic, how did you achieve it? I like the dwarfs as well, particularly the slayers. I think the Necrosphinx is my favorite of this month’s offerings. I think the conversion is very clever, but it’s your painting that makes it really work.
@colonel kane trine Nice to see some better pics. I really like the armor on the Mournfang riders. It works well.
@Loki73 I love your orcs. The boar is what stands out to me this month. The face paint and the wild-eyed look he has really gives the model that little extra bit.
@perplexiti I like the thane, and the army shot is really nice. Likewise with the lizardmen. The green on the skink priests is really a nice departure from the traditional turquoise scheme.
Page 3
@Knighta That’s a lot of gobbos! The brown and red really works well, and its nice to see such a different approach from the standard black scheme.
@Momus I like the yellow stone approach you’ve used. It will tie in nicely with your previous basing, if I recall your prior work correctly. Well done.
@daismith906 I love your blue Ogres. Happy to be seeing more of them.

@Morkash Thanks
@Fabius Bile Thank you!
@perplexiti Thanks man!
@juicytomatoes Thank you very much.
@Confessor_Atol Thanks.
@Loki73 Thank you, I appreciate that.
@JackDaw Thanks. It’s going to be a lot of work to do the bases how I wat them, but I’m optimistic it will be worth it.
@colonel kane trine Thank you, but I’m afraid the grey is actually white + poor lighting. I hope it’s the lighting, anyway.the white was done by using the normal GW white recipe: Undercoat black, basecoat Astronomican Grey, wash Badab Black, layer 1:1 mix of Astronomican Grey and Skull White, layer pure Skull White
Hi allyour armies are looking great
I have just bought the start of a Skaven army and have been inspired by all of your great work. So I have decided to have a go at this tale and see if I can get an army painted up quickly and I hope to a standard as good as what I see here

Sorry to be so late, have been away with the family and are now down with the flu. Will try to post my pic and some comments this evening.
Army: at least 1000pts of divers Chaos dwarfs
Total Points for the Month: Sorcerer-Prophet 260 pts
Total Points for the Tale: 310 pts
In reality this is a kind of joker, since I commissioned this model. It is by Ana from ChestofColors.com, my favourite mini painter and I just had to have a model by her.
Plans for Next Month: Working on some MM90 dwarfs, don´t know how to evaluate their points value, but who really cares.
Dice Roll: 4.
Comments:
@azhagmorglum: love your painting, well done!
@EmperorNorton: Nice one! Only the sword could need a little more love.
@JackDaw: Cool work, they really look impressive.
@Laborious: Nice idea, but you are right, the fur seems a little meh.
@owl: my condolences, too.
@Braad: Well done, love those spider legs.
@Loki73: Nice conversion, well done.
@perplexiti: Love face and beard!
ARMY: CHAOS (WoC) - 2000pts (MEN)
UNIT: Cockatrice
BACKGROUND/THEME: The Rainbow Warlock's wicked and strange band follow him through the mountains and over the plains in some unknown quest.
BUILD/CONVERSION: Marauder mini.
STILL TO DO: Base.
HIGHS & LOWS: None really.
POINTS: 175
TOTAL POINTS SO FAR : 735 + 175 = 910pts.
DICE ROLL : 6, but I'll try and comment on as many entries as I can!
Khorne Hero on Juggernaut.
Cockatrice
I have now finished the Cockatrice and mounted the Juggernaut Hero. They just need some work doing to their bases. I might add a couple of frozen rats/snotlings to the Cockatrice's base to liven it up![]()
Iamjack – Wonderful work on that chariot – the rope looks very real, I like the gritty determination on the crew’s faces, nice work on that. Even though I finished my elves earlier in the tale I do have one chariot left to do…now I have to work on it with this as a guide!
Azhagmorglum – Your squigs always fill me with glee. This looks like an orc army should look. Loving the bright colours, especially on the mushrooms. Really looking forward to seeing you set up some stone trolls, too – beautiful old models.
Zark the damned – Oh, wow! Would love to get a game in against this army, it’s absolutely incredible. Love how the militia turned out, they sort of look how I imagine the Mob from Terry Pratchett looks. The ogre from the Budget Bashas with the door is my favorite.
Fabius Bile – What a feral looking chap! Really like the skin tone, and the peg leg – really gives him some character you don’t always see with the newer ogres. I’d hesitate to go up against anyone who looked that thrilled, missing a leg, in his line of work!
Emperor Norton – That captain’s face has me in stitches, I have no idea why. Very crisp and clean – good luck with blue mountain, I hope never to have to go there again myself.
JackDaw – once again your work just blows me away. Love the hydra conversion, that’s something I’d gladly face. I feel like Hiroth’s face perfectly faces off against Tyrion’s in the kind of “bring it on” sense. Looking forward to more from you!
Juicytomatoes – Awww, he’s adorable! Er… also, what a wonderful job you’ve done with the color scheme on this model, and the army in general. Army shot soon? (Also: lookit the little FACE aww!)
Morkash – Just as ogres should look – a raging mass of flab and steel (and, eventually, rust!) charging across the field at full speed. The bases really help with the intimidation factor of this unit, I think. Good on you for getting it done in three days, too! Excellent work!
Laborious – If you don’t mind, they’ve turned out so well and I hate the sabertusk models SO much that I think I might hork this idea. The orange is splendid too – how’d you get it to go together so seamlessly?
Confessor_Atol – Boy, yeah that went together well didn’t it? Love the banner itself, the wood grain turned out really nicely. Great work man, keep on it!
Braad – Snotlings are pride of place for me in your work this month – such a good idea and yet I’ve never seen it done. Love the face on the big boss too! The spiders creep me out just a smidge but you can see the work that went into them.
Doomscape – Gosh paint something already ya git.
Colonel Kane – Ten mournfangs – yikes! You put that across the field from me and I’m liable to duck out the back. Very nice getting them to look varied individually and still unified as a whole!
Loki73 – WAAAAAAAGH! Love the look of horrified realization on the boar’s face, and the blue tattoos on both boar and rider. Savage orcs are some of my favorites and you’ve done them great justice here. Really like the fur on his back too.
Perplexiti – Dwarves! Excellent. The whole army looks suitably muted and realistic, army shot is a real inspiration mate. Good work! Also really like that cold one especially on the lizards. Keep ‘em coming!
Knighta – These guys look great! Nice choice of color for the cloaks and “bad moon,” really gets the whole kit to stand together. Now you’ve just got to base them (my least favorite part of the model process) and they’ll be good to go!
MOMUS – My condolences. Hope you’re feeling a bit better anyhow. This stegadon is simply amazing, the blues and greens contrast so nicely with the Engine itself. Can remember that White Dwarf article myself!
Daismith906 – A great start to the Maneater mob, like the handgunner’s heavy weapon used as a pistol here. The skin tone is very nice as well – if I were to redo my ogres that’s the tone I’d go after. Loving the look of the banner too!
Purplebeard – Well, you’ve sold me on the silly old juggers with your paint scheme here. And the cocatrice too, fantastic work on the feathers. Still think bear cav beats jugger cav, though, just saying!

Sorry for the tardy response guys. I decided to wait a few days after commenting opened to allow any stragglers time to get their entries up and then promptly forgot that I hadn’t actually posted. Luckily purple beard decided to be beyond fashionably late with his awesome retro collection and I remembered.![]()
Page 1:
@iamjack - Good work again. Really like the bronzey/gold colouring you’ve gone for on the armour of these guys. Looks great. How do you think you’ll base them?
@azhagmorglum - I love squigs, and these are awesome. The more natural coloured one is brilliant. Can’t wait to see more work on the wyvern.
@zark the damned - Fantastic collection of old minis, the blood bowl team looks fearsome. Also, am I the only one who misread “the blue bullocks”?
@Fabius Bile - great conversion and psychedelic paintjob. Love it!
@Emperor Norton - Nice captain, but you should have photographed him atop the mountain of the slain!
@jackdaw - Beautiful stuff, as always, the C’tan conversion is truly wonderful.
@juicy tomatoes - What a wonderful sculpt, and a really nice paintjob to boot.
@morkash - Great looking unit. And never mind about the glare, it makes it look like they’re performing a heroic dawn charge on some unsuspecting enemy.
Page 2:
@Confessor Atol - Already told you what a cracking job I think you’ve done in your plog, but its worth saying again. I love it!
@Braad - Will all of you please stop posting pictures of bleeding spiders! I have to look at them so I can comment on them and they’re really nicely done so I end up looking for quite some time and I don’t like it.Oh, and that’s quite possibly the most badass BSB pose ever.
@doomscape - Oooh, really interesting colour palette you’ve used here. They look great. Lovely work on your dwarves, though I think you’ve got a bit of a discipline problem in that hammerer regiment. The guy third from the left is about to brain his comrade!That heirotitan is amazing!
@colonel kane trine - Are you the reason that whenever I go to order any ogre stuff online they’re always out of stock?!?I’m glad you enjoyed painting greasus so much , he looks great.
@loki - Hehe, is turock saying “waaagh” or the boar? Really great conversion, and lovely paintjob. I really do like that bright vibrant blue you achieve on your war paint.
@perplexity - I like him, very dark and sombre. I do think that your bases could do with a bit of jazzing up though. Just a few patches of melting snow of tufts of grass or something. Your lizardmen are looking even better I think, I really like your cold ones.
Page 3:
@Knighta - 2 years without painting and you decide a good way to begin is to paint SIXTY models? Are you mad?! Very nice work crazy person, especially the skin!![]()
@Momus - Lovely stegadon, the green skin and scales look great. But none of them have eyes! We’ll pretend they’re were blinded by the cameras flash.The scarvets look great, and I remember that issue of WD, back when all this was fields and kids knew they were born and so on and so forth.
@daismith - yay! Dai’s back! Lovely work, and the new snow looks great. Lots of volume to it.
Page 4:
@Dagabriel - That really is a perfectly executed model, I love the basing. I won’t ask how much it cost, but I expect it was worth every penny.
@purple beard - I love the fact that many of you guys have all these wonderful old sculpts in your armies and being reminded of how the design of GW’s models has evolved over the last 20 or even nearly 30 years in some cases, and yet still retain so much of the originals. Great paintjobs, and I’m really glad you went with the oldschool “RED!!! Everything should be RED!!!” when painting the champion.![]()
Hey guys! Some comments from me while I'm uploading pics to photobucket.

The Muster of Quenelles
1,000 points (Boys)
MONTH 7 POINTS: 97pts.
TOTAL POINTS PAINTED: 502pts.
JOKERS USED: 2
UNIT: 14 Peasant Men-at-Arms, Full Command: 70 + 27 = 97 points.
BACKGROUND/THEME: The standing army of the Dukedom of Quenelles. Proud blue and noble white for my army's colours, with sustaining green as an accent color. Being in the shadow of Athel Loren, I want to play with a connection to Elves-- although nothing explicit like conversions or count as models. I will do this by keeping my palette reminiscent of HE and WE armies and keeping a "clean" look throughout.
BUILD/CONVERSION: The Men-at-Arms are straight out of the box. The kit is packed with extras so it was easy to keep everything unique, no two peasants are the same. I also decided that the low-born peasants are not worthy to fly a proper standard. The standard bearer is holding up a prayer icon instead. The unit champion was slightly modified as well to fit the theme, I gave him a poor-man's version of a unicorn helm.
PAINTING: Used the same colour recipes used on my other peasant units. I also tried painting gemstones (amber) on the standard bearer.. it still needs some work, unfortunately
BASING: Sand painted with Graveyard Earth, drybrushed Fortress Grey, washed with Scorched Brown. Glued Static Grass in clumps to finish it off.
STILL TO DO: Done!
HIGHS: Really like how the prayer icon came out. And the sea of leather looks cool too, thanks to the different sculpts.
LOWS: Too few painting hours (again).
DICE ROLL: 4
Month 7 Pictures:

Wow I'm bad at getting my comments out in a timely manner!
iamjack42 - The elves continue to look great, keep up the good work. The Seaguard particularly looks good.
azhagmorglum - Loving the mix of colours on the squigs - a great change from the usual red. Wyvern is looking great so far!
Fabius Bile - I dig the tiger pelt and the conversion in general, may have to try something similar when I get back onto my Ogres.
EmperorNorton - Neat looking captain, one of my favorite Empire minis. Good luck with the pile of blue!
JackDaw - Great stuff as always, I love Hiroth, and the ghostly effect on the 'hydra'.
Great Horned Owl - I am sorry for your loss, my condolences to you and your family.
juicytomatoes - Pretty neat halfling daimyo, I like the war banjo!
Morkash - Nice bunch of Guts, I dig the conversion for your GutLord
Laborius - Good work on the puppies, they look good. May need to pick some up for use as something in SOM.
Confessor_Atol - I love the conversion, especially the 'Caber Tosser' pose! Good use of parts from the Stonehorn.
Braad - Those spiders look hella dangerous! I also love the freehand on the BSB banner, great work!
doomscape - I like your unique take on SkullTaker, the yellow skin and green armour works well. The dwarfs look great too, nothing beats a couple of big blocks of infantry! Hierotitan conversion works well, good work.
colonel kane trine - That's a lot of Mournfangs! The chipped/worn effect on the armour works well.
gogs78 - Hope you find the motivation to get back in the game!
Loki73 - Fantastic work on the Boss, the pelt and warpaint in particular look great.
Knighta - That's a lot of goblins!
daismith906 - The giant smurfs continue to impress- keep up the good work!
Purplebeard - good work on the classic minis, the jugger in particular looks great.
Saulot - I love the uniforms on the guys, the unit looks fantastic!

Thanks to everyone for the kind words in general!
This month has been almost as productive, have managed to get plenty done so far. However I have run out of prepared stuff (aside from a couple of characters) and need to pick up some glue/spray so next month may be a bit slower.
Big Big thanks to everyone who commented!
Thanks a lot Jackdaw - the Hunter is mostly built from Stonehorn leftovers, the body came from the Ironblaster kit (I built the Scraplauncher so a few spares there!) and the Pistol hand is from the Mournfang kit.
Here are a couple of WIP shots of this month's offering:
Yes, that is Golfag Maneater's backside and yes that is an Averland battle banner. As Golfag has patchwork trousers on, I decided that they would be made from the banners of his defeated enemies. There's nothing like making things easy for yourself, eh?![]()
Billy Fish - "Are you angels?"
Peachy Carnehan - "No, we are Englishmen, which is the next best thing!"
Thank you all for commenting on my work.
I haven't had time this month to post my own comments, hopefully I'll be able to do it before the end of the month.

Alright peoples,
my painting for this month is done and it will be big and very frosty...Maybe I'll get something else done, tournament is on May 12th and I need a Slaughtermaster and 4 more Leadbelchers painted till then!
DAGabriel: Wow, you lucky man! Ana's one of my favourite painters (with Bohun) and she really made you a unique piece right there. You surely can be proud of it!
So, comments on comments!
@Fabius Bile, perplexiti, juicytomatoes, JackDaw: Thanks alot!
@Confessor_Atol: Hobbymonster sounds great. Now I have to live up to it!Maybe I will really finish this army in this tale!
@Loki73: Go for it, more love for the big bellies! And I'd really like to see the finished BSB, looks great even now, nice banner!
@colonel kane trine: Very easy actually. I start with 2 thin coats of Tallarn Flesh, then I use 2 or 3 layers of thinned down Ogre Flesh as Wash for the whole area. Then I wash the Face and other deep areas with pure Ogre Flesh and lastly highlight the face and fingers with Tallarn flesh again. Goes very fast!
@iamjack42: Thanks alot!
@doomscape: Hehe, it was unexpected! Just got myself in the Flow and suddenly everything worked out well!
@Laborious: Now that's my new favourite excuse for photos taken in direct sunlight. Thanks!
@Saulot: Thank you, maybe I won't even give them rust and run them as 2 seperate units of 8 Ironguts each...we'll see! Great paintjob on those M@A, you painted them very careful!
@Zark the Damned: Thanks, sometimes the simple conversions are the best. Like him too!
Lastly,
@gogs78 Keep it coming, you can do this tale!
@Gargobot: Finish your Daemons, good sir! And in the next tale go full force for the Empire!![]()
I'm merely making some progress on last foot skellies, tomb guard and 6 chariots this month... going throught a painstaking amount of bone painting, so expect no finished models this month. Lucky I have som credit left from other months and I will be able to make grand steps forward when the bone is done!
