    Stirland and Empires Provinces Sourcebook

I am looking for more infomrmation on Stirland than can be found nline.

Specifically, what is their religion: Some say Sgimar, others say Manaan.

They hate Halflings but what is their relation to Ogres and Dwarves?

What else is unique to Stirland.

There is an old WHFRP book that details all the provinces of the empire. I once had it, ut displaced it. Now I am looking to aquire it again. Does anybody know what it is called?

Think its mostly Sigmar but not sure really,I know they have the Stirland River Patrol so could worship Manaan also.

Didn't know they hated Halflings though, not sure as to Dwarfs and Ogres.

I know that it's the largest province in the empire, but also one of the poorest aswell. It uses a lot of Huntsmen I think not sure on that either.

Emperor Boris Goldgather rewarded his best halfling chef with a seat on the Elector Counts and a chunk of the province of Stirland for Halflings to call there own.

Sigmar's Heirs is probably your best bet - there's a small amount on Stirland in there (as with all provinces). They're not fond of halflings, because of the ancient grudge mentioned above, and there's a lot of negative prejudice surrounding them. There is apparently a childrens' game involving a pinata shaped like a halfling, which the children have to beat to get it to "return the sweets it stole". (Stirlanders deny that they have occasionally played this with a real halfling).

The province seems to be principally Sigmarite at least at upper levels, although the current Count (Alberich Haupt-Anderssen) is suggested to have ties to the Cult of Shallya. The province is generally fairly poor, although the burghers of Wurtbad consider it to be an exemplary city and it's known as the wine capital of the Empire. Locals tend to be traditional, fatalistic and xenophobic. The rest of the Empire thinks they're a bit weird (but the same goes for most provinces, of course) due to their superstitions and strange customs (warm beer), and they're largely viewed as bumpkins. Their bloodline is apparently relatively undiluted by Imperial standards (no-one wants to live there, and Stirlanders don't leave) so they're seen as a bit inbred. Of course, Stirlanders think everyone else is too, er, outbred. Sylvania is an ongoing problem, for obvious reasons.

They don't seem to have any particularly strong feelings about Ogres or Dwarfs. Dwarfs are more prominent socially in Averland, and Ogres don't tend to get mentioned in Empire material at all.

The Empire is polytheistic, so they'l worship pretty much all of them, same as everywhere else. It is fairly far south however, and a mainly rural and unforested province, so Taal & Rhya would likely be widespread, as would Morr (due to Sylvania). Sigmar would still be the most prominent god, though there would still be a few Ulrican temples around, and maybe a handful of Myrmidian in the larger cities. Widespread worship of Manaan seems doubtful, really, other than a few small shrines on the rivers - it's too far inland. I vaguely recall Tome of Salvation mentioning Priests of Manaan working inland is seen as shameful. The book you're thinking of is probably Sigmar's Heirs, by the way.

Ogres are mentioned as being used as bodyguards for Stirland Tax Collectors on the rare occasions when they go into Sylvania, but that's about it.

I thought they had a special relationship with Mannan, but I can't remember where I read that. I always assumed that this was due to the name corresponding to Stirling and Clackmannan in Scotland. But I could be very wrong, my memory aint what it was
