    Major update time!

As you may have noticed, the board itself is finished (and had it's first game on Monday). Due to time and weather (lack of decent light) I haven't managed to get round to taking some pics of what the boards are like so ouila:

    Days 41-47

I admit, they aren't the most exciting but I think it brings out of the most of the terrain such as my rock pillars:

I'm pretty happy how these turned out in the end, especially the algae growth on the underhangs! Unfortunately my supply of slate is running a tad low and I'm not able to get as much coverage as I would like. I will go back to it at some point and add some more (this tends to happen with a lot of my figures/movement trays as bits seem to constantly fall off through handling).

Buildiings you say? Well it's not a building as such but how about my last week's work:

    Days 48-54

This was a joy to paint once I got into it, I thought I had ruined it at one point by using the wrong wash on the stone steps but I managed to pull them off I think. This thing was bought way before the board and has spend a fair while at my gaming club but I thought it was a good centre piece for the board - indeed it will be in the next couple of weeks as my friend and I start the Tamurkhan campaign and will be playing the "Altar of Battle" scenario.

I'm having a rest on the project for a week before I take 10 days holiday. By the end of that I hope I will have a proper building to show you!

    Cheers for looking!

    Days 60-66

So after a few days getting sucked into Diablo 3 I have managed to get round to finishing off my Dreadstone Blight!

I happy how this has turned out even though it wasn't as enjoyable to paint as the Temple of Skulls it was easier with a lot of drybrushing. I used inspiration from Byron's tutorial (http://www.warseer.com/forums/showth...-Heavy*/page13) but needed to alter it to reflect the lava center, which obviously then added lots of source lighting. I used a small torch to figure out where the light would hit the wall and applied the highlights there. I painted the skull pits inside the building to match those on my gaming board but the ones on the outside I did traditional bone as they are decorative rather than offerings to the Gods. In hindsight doing them red too would have given more colour to the outside of the building I think.

Also, the nice thing about Dreadstone Blight is the details such as:

Plus I added some of my own....

Unfortunately I am still no nearer to completing my selection of terrain because I picked up this on Ebay:

I really need to stop doing this! But after I saw it on another thread around here I had to get one, although it's a but smaller than I was expecting. I might mount it on a scenic base to make it more of a feature.

I still have a few days of my holiday left but I I said to myself I must have a core unit done by the end of the week so I will get on with my trees after I have finished another 14 of these guys:

    Cheers for looking!

Cheers Nesbet, I got the tree from Ebay after seeing it on a thread here on Warseer. It's done by a guy called Sebastian Makowski, here's the Ebay link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fantasy-Te...item48453fa6a8

Lovely stuff mate - are we going to see it at the club for a 'guest appearance'?

And you need to give me a masterclass in drybrushing - you're great at it, I can't do it!
    Seriously, help would be appreciated!

Cheers mate, the good thing with the stand is that it fits in the car so if we have a night we know there won't be enough tables I can bring it down. I could always just use the board on our tables, got a game with Andy tomorrow so maybe then!

As for the drybrushing Jonny would be the one to ask about that, his stuff looks great. My drybrush work has only just started to look half decent, before this project I barely ever bothered because it always looked rubbish! Always happy to have a look at your stuff and suggest things though.
