Arming my Chaos units according to their god

Just wondering, people usually take Tzeentch Warriors with HW&S, or Khorne Warriors with Halberds.
Both seem a fluffy weapon, high S for Khorne, defensive power for Tzeentch.

But what about the other 2? What would be great weapons for them?
Would 2 hand weapons be good for Slaanesh? or not?
And what would be considered fluff for Nurgle?

Khorne: Halberds (hits hard, requires skill)
Tzeench: Shields (just the most effective, really)
Slaanesh: Double Hand Weapons (Fast. Subtle. Deadly)
Nurlge: Two Handed (Rotted bodies are slow, but they have the strenth of the insane)

Not so much an equivalent to army list choices but I'd imagine Slaaneshi weapons whatever their type would be covered in hooks and barbs so as to inflict as painful a wound as possible but generally would be less heavy bladed than the obvious axes favoured by Khornate warriors. With Nurgle warrior I more think they'd favour the use rusted blunt crushing weapons probably not intended to outright kill their opponents but incapacitate and leave them open to infection and disease after all they cant enjoy Nurgles gifts if they're dead. Tzeentch by his very nature would be harder to tie down to a specific type (outside of the obvious game favouring handweapon/shield combo) with rippling almost flame like blades (when they arent just outright on fire).

Not quite so easy to represent in game terms but personally I dont think a powers warriors would be tied down to a specific weapon type in terms of fluff at least.

Yeah, obviously there's a lot of variation within individual followers of the god. Slaanesh is a particularly good example: I've always taken him to represent joyous obsession in its purest form; this often manifests itself in a carnal way but that's just because people have sex on the brain. I like to imagine Slaaneshis becoming obsessed with food, with art, or with warfare - a martially-obsessed Slaaneshi (as, presumably, most of those who regularly take to the field are) would be an incredibly dangerous opponent, matching Khornate warriors blow for blow, and possibly with more finesse.

Taking this into account, Khornate warriors might prefer spears (the universal weapon) or axes (easily improvised), Slaaneshis swords (for the dedicated soldier), Tzeentch the halberd (a sophisticated all-round option) and Nurgle, I don't know, some sort of mace, flail or morning star (armour provides less/no defence to disease, or to being smashed in with a heavy object).

But this would obviously vary from warband to warband and from warrior to warrior. Representing this on the tabletop could be tricky, too, of course.

I'd say a brick to the face is more subtle than a great weapon though.

I'd say, for Slaanesh, any weapon that requires great skill to be used effectively and that is usable in a fancy way. I mean, for example, rapiers: a good fencer with a rapier is almost like a dancer, poking and slashing where his enemy's defences are weaker. Also, I get quite a good slaaneshi vibe from Soul Calibur's Tira. A discipline that almost mocks the opponent with its acrobatic-ness.
Of course, a ring-blade is not a weapon fit for fighting in blocks of infantry. So, really, double-wielded swords, rapiers and barbed whips are better.

Khorne Champion: "MUST KILL... SOMETHING!" *Spots random ax in a tree stump. Picks it up.* "KILL EVERYTHING! MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" *Proceeds to kill everything.*

Nurgle: *Cough.* *Cough.* *Wheeze.* *Spits.* *Swings Flail at High Elf.* "Wait... Come back... Damn it."

Slaanesh: "Pray for mercy from Puss... in boots!" "Wait what?" "En garde!" *Slashes with dual rapiers.*

Tzeentch: "Did you see the transvestite stripper with the fetish boots and the rapiers kill that guy? Aw crap he's back." *Raises his Eye Covered Shield and Flaming Sword for battle.*

Undivided: "This is a Halberd. There are many like it but this one is mine. Without my Halberd I am just a deranged demonic armored sadist. Without me, my Halberd is an inert piece of metal possessed by a demon..." *Halberd starts glowing.* "No, please no! Arrrrgh!" *Halberd levitates out of his hands, swinging wildly, and hacks through his helmet in an explosion of gore.*

I now have to convert a champion of Slaanesh to be puss in boots, or just a feline beastmen with a rapier now, and to think I was going to do pure Tzeentch. Love that bit, and does kind of show the philosophies of different warrior in a fun way, perhaps you should write a childrens/pre school book introducing the Chaos Gods, their daemons and their followers? :P

Lots of slannesh models have whips, nurgle gets maces, Khorne axes, Tzeentch would get the War yo-yo and boomerang, while yelling "IT ALL COMES BACK TO MEEEE!"

    The way I see it!

Khorne: Great axe, Hand axe, Halberds
Nurgle: Great Maul, War hammer, Flail, Sickle
    Slaanesh: Daggers, Rapiers, Whips, Razors
Tzeentch: Sword and Shield, Halberd and Shield

I really can't see Khorne using a halberd, unless as just an axe. its a tricky weapon to use properly, not something a berzerker would use in a rage. I'd say two handed or double axes for khorne.

Meh, I can't really see the god making much/any difference. Chaos Warriors are individuals, not mindless drones who brought their outfit in a their gods chain store. They will use whatever weapon they like, have a background with, is considered effective against their present enemies. Surviving, killing their opponents and first and foremost getting results is what's important. Wearing the right fashion accessories is not nearly as important the more real power you have. Following all the minutia and rituals of your cult is very important when you are a lowly cultist. Wiping out a village and despoiling the land takes priority when you are a chaos warrior.

#sigh# There is a lot more to khorne than just mindless frenzy savagery. He is also the god of martial honour and skill. His followeres could reasonably be expected to be very proficient with any weapon you can think of as that's what they do.

Anger can be tempered in to something cold and deadly. It doesn't always have to be berserk rage.

Oh my god, I love that!

But yeah, I'd echo what Grumbaki said. Khorne gets halberds, Nurgle great weapons, Slaanesh two hand weapons, and Tzeentch shields.

For some inspiration, how about taking a look at some of the classic chaos champion models:

    http://www.solegends.com/citcat912/c...slaanesh-h.htm

    http://www.solegends.com/citcat912/c...tzeentch-h.htm

Got to love that Slaaneshi champion armed with a sword, whip and an extra arm with crab-like claw!

I like the guy with a warhammer and bestial face and the fleshhound head one, would be nice to see those brought back, as well as a few more of the old Tzeentch ones.
