    Battlefleet gothic used prices

I've come back to the hobby after a bit of a break and I'm slowly putting together a battlefleet gothic fleet. One thing I've noticed is that the used ships either painted badly or bare metal seem to go for really high prices on ebay. So much so that I'm actually considering buying some brand new ships from Games workshop, taking them out of the packets and putting them on ebay to make a little profit. Am I missing something here or do people just not price check? I can understand on the OOP ones like the transports but things like Cobra class destroyers I just don't get!

Not a rant, just an observation, I'm a little confused to be honest!

    Cheers

Correct, ebay prizes are nuts. Often (in most cases to be honest) it is better to buy from GW directly. Or Forgeworld if you appreciate their looks of the Tau fleet (and Marine Strike cruiser, 2 Eldar light cruisers).

Ebay sellers often qualify things from BFG as oop or rare even if it isn't. Weird, I know.

Idk recently I picked up 4 dauntless on eBay for about 40 bucks 6 orbital batteries for 20 and a hand full of escorts (3 firestorms and 8 cobras iirc) for 15. A lot of them do go for crazy prices but rarely do I see then go over gw pricing just more than I'm willing to pay.

Ebay is just a weird place. Plus, bidding and trying to win has a fun effect it plays on people. I remember seeing a pack of NIB chaos escorts (in the actual BFG themed blister) going for about current day prices then the next day the bids were higher. I think people just wanted the old blister in that case.

Once in awhile though, a good deal does come along.

I've had 1 or 2 bargains, normally when the item has been spealt wrong or is in the wrong section ;-) Wierd the prices seem to be better over the pond, I would have thought it would be the other way round!

That is so interesting. I have been posting my fleet for about 1/2 off and I have not been able to get it to sell. 0_0

It seems Imperial Cruisers are the thing to be selling atm, I regularly see them go for double or more of the equivalent chaos ships.

Sword class frigates or Cobras, they go for a fortune individually!

Yeah, it’s absurd. It happens with Epic stuff, too – just this last weekend someone was selling blisters that you can buy new from GW, for more! Even before shipping!

But there are a few items that always sell for a good deal, like Planet Killers and Blackstone Fortresses. Sometimes you can get a battleship for cheap, too.

I also have seen things go for OVER MSRP, esp the Ad Mech ships, I often wonder if people just don't know you can still buy them directly.
Unfortunately it seems the few things I want to sell are in low demand and going super cheap any time I think to go post them.

So, I am curious then, what do most people consider "fair" price for NIB/NOS stuff that isn't considered "rare" or OOP?
50% of MSRP? 75% of MSRP?

    Re: Battlefleet gothic used prices

    What's NOS?

The problem is shipping. GW in the US usually ships free if you buy a certain amount of stuff. They ship quickly and have good customer service, so I’d rather buy from them unless I’m saving at least $5 on my whole order.

With many eBay vendors the only way to save is to buy multiple items, but for Specialist Games it isn’t likely that they’ll have enough selection for that.

NOS = New Old Stock i.e. unopened or unused.

I'd say 75% of MSRP for unpainted,
Well painted ships it's how much you want to pay, there's some really nice stuff out there and if you aren't a painter then it's not a bad way to go.
For badly painted ships (Which are my main grumble when it comes to price) It's got to be at least 50% off, for the hassle of having to dettol them (And stink the house out and get told off by the wife) or that green stuff you guys over the pond use.

That's just my opinion, buyuing someone else's stuff shouldn't be as expensive, you'd never pay list price for a used garment or something. Just my two pence anyway!

Ya 75% for unpainted and 50-75% for painted depending on quality sounds about right. Simple green smells great btw, my wife has discovered what a great cleaner it is tho so I get told off for "wasting" it now. Proof that it doesn't matter what you do, the wife will find a reason to nag :P.

I too have been having trouble selling some items because the prices are so low. Even including things mentioned here like escorts etc. I have been holding onto an eldar cruiser for months because i want to get at least £5 for it! It obviously depends upon demand too - though luck has a large part in it - i managed to get 6 imperial escorts for bout £7 because bfg being less popular, players don't check back every week so items often go through without being noticed.
