Yeah things are looking grim... but shooting shouldn't be too big a problem? Use the highest stat of the model right? Those Giants have Ld 10 to weather the Deathshriek (26/36 chance of survival with at least one wound); so if you can survive the magic (or if they kill themselves on miscasts) you chould get to roll at least one time on the giant's chart.

Barring that, you can always hope that one of those Vampires decides to steal your mount; which is basically like your character continuing.

Either way, I continue to support the underdog and put my 0 on The Giants!

Quick rules question about the upcoming fight: the fallen-giant template size means that a dying giant, if it managed to get into melee, would have a what... 25%ish chance of falling on top of his opponent?

Attacks are directed at the rider, not the giant. So once the rider is killed the giant basically goes away and wouldn't fall over.
