I didn't give a damn about this thing... until I saw Chaos can take it as well. I'm sold.

That's it! I couldn't put my finger on it till you wrote this. It reminds me of the creations people use to whip up using the old vehicle deign rules back in white dwarf years ago. I like it, but the size of the model and the av 12 doesn't inspire enough confidence to invest in it. I suppose it depends on what the new codex looks like.

I love the big cannon arm despite it's named petard!

It makes sense if you know what a petard is/was.
I agree, it does seem a wierd use of the word, below is the etymology of the word petard (straight from wiki):
The word petard comes from the Middle French peter, to break wind, from pet expulsion of intestinal gas, from Latin peditum, from neuter of peditus, past participle of pedere, to break wind; akin to Greek bdein to break wind. (Merriam-Webster) Petard remains a French word meaning a firecracker today (in French slang, it means a handgun, or a marijuana cigarette).
The word remains in modern usage in the phrase hoist with one's own petard, which means "to be harmed by one's own plan to harm someone else" or "to fall into one's own trap," literally implying that one could be lifted up (hoist, or blown upward) by one's own bomb.
Oh Pyrovore, you're like the Eeyore of 40K
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petard
Petards were often placed either inside tunnels under walls, or directly upon gates. When placed inside a tunnel under a wall and exploded, large amounts of air would often be released from the tunnel, as the tunnel collapsed. By securing the device firmly to the gate, the shape of the device allows the concussive pressure of the blast to be applied entirely towards the destruction of the gate. Depending on design, a petard could be secured by propping it against the gate using beams as illustrated, or nailing it in place by way of a wooden board fixed to the end of the petard in advance

That's all very interesting, but the fact I found so funny about the word "petard" is that in my mother language means "firecracker" and, in a slang form, "noisy and ridiculous person".

This is probably the first Space Marine aerial vehicle that I think looks decent.
As I have BA, I'm using Chapterhouse Studio parts to make my Storm Raven chunkier, and it's cheaper, so wasn't overly excited about Storm Eagle. However, now it's available for Chaos... For the exact same points (225) I lose POTMS (fair enough, Chaos don't get that) but become immune to shaken and stunned, and can have a Reaper Autocannon instead of TW-heavy bolters. That sounds like a damn good deal when I stick 10 terminators inside, even 20 Berzerkers would be nasty...

Its a nice looking rig. Makes me want to start Black Templars just so I can put a maxed out crussader squad in there.
I'm actually thinking of getting one of these to use as a stormraven in my grey knightsonly a minor bit of conversion needed, would look so much cooler

Nicer looking than the stormraven, but I can't see using it in the armies I have for that cost. If I had gone chaos a while back instead of SW, then it'd be great. Maybe I'll get one down the line when one of our group decides to sell theirs lol
That is a gorgeous kit.

Possession is in no way comparable to potms. They can still take extra armor and not have to worry about being stunned. So they can still deliver their troops and still fire a weapon. We can just ignore stunned/shaken but can't fire if moving over 12"

You trade some durability for a huge amount more mobiltiy when compared to the landraider. weapons are also arguably better and immunity to the melta rule is nice given that's the usual method of anti raider. Flat out + POTMS also helps make up for lost durability.
It's still not the greatest choice in the world, but its far from terrible imo, and rule of cool goes a long way. If you're a marine tourney player you wont like it, but marine tourney players don't often like land raiders either. For casual games it, like many things the internet dislikes, is good enough
While i understand the point your making, I still think its worth noting that the storm eagle with POTMS and Extra armour is going to be 15 points more then the storm eagle with Possession. Its a minor point, but never the less relevant, as you'd expect an additional investment in points to provide an additional return.
internal elements also need to be properly considered. The storm eagle is far better then the chaos land raider in many ways, uses a relatively useless slot in the Chaos army, freeing up the highly valuable and highly useful heavy slot and Chaos has better access to troops that can make use of the expanded space in the form of berserkers.
in a vacuum the marine eagle is arguably better then the chaos eagle, but the books around them presently function very differently. IMO, despite being inferior to the marine version, the eagle is more useful in the chaos book then it is in the marine book
