Chris_Tzeentch does Trollbloods - well, sort of...

Well I finally decided to start a new Hordes faction. I dabbled with Circle and Skorne in the past, but it was never quite right. I have quite a substantial Gator force assembled, but seeing as they dont have a battle engine or a Colossus equivalent (yet), I wanted to try a main faction I hadn't done before. Being a Cryx and Gator player means that firepower is rather thin on the ground, so I decided to try a firepower heavy faction, so Gunnbjorn seemed an obvious choice to start with. I want to build a 50 point force initially, and take it from there.

My usual commission painter will be handling all the painting, but I will be doing any basing.

First up is the original Gunnbjorn model :-

I made some initial changes to the original paint job. Gunnbjorn is a bit more progressive than other Trollblood casters, so I decided to have him in Camo gear. I also wanted to have a distinctive tartan pattern throughout the army, so after a quick browse on the internet, decided upon the above pattern.

Here is Gunnbjorn with the added tartan and camo :-





I have recently purchased Janissa Stonetide and some Trollkin Sluggers, so these are next up!

Chris, got you added to the Privateer Press Project Log list. That tartan is a perfect choice for this model. Great Idea.

Also bought this for the bases, it matches the tartan pattern and it made me think of Scottish Heather :-

Managed to get the basing done on Gunnbjorn. Slightly different to my usual basing methods - I really wanted to get a Scottish highland with heater feel to the bases, the heater matches the tartan colour too, something like this :-

Overall I was quite pleased with the result - I used the new Citadel basing medium for the base, and added flock, static grass and the heater.

The heater was made simply by gluing the Woodland Scenics heather to some of the Citadel Middenland Tufts and sticking them on with PVA. I will be using this on all the Trollblood bases going forward.

I have decided to sell off my Trollbloods - after playing a few games recently with my Gators I have concluded that these are the faction for me, not Trollbloods.

Gunnbjorn is currently on eBay - I have other items to add in the next few days, so keep an eye out if you are interested.
