Dark Eldar Kill Team - First Try
Ok so I am a Guard Player, but I really like the thematic feel of the Dark Eldar, which I feel lends itself perfectly to a kill team environment. Anyway so here goes nothing...
200 Points on the nose:
Ten (10) Kabalite Trueborn
5 with Shard Carbines
1 Blaster
2 Splinter Cannons
1 With Splinter Pistol and CCW
and Dracon with Blast Pistol and Venom Blade
I think that the combinations of the Shard Carbines, and Splinter Cannons allows me to lay down a wall of fire pretty well, while the blaster and blaster pistol give me some anti-armour/high AP shots for those people who bring Terminators or Dreads. Also the dracon can dish out a fair amount of attacks with a high chance of wounding combined with high initiative means that he can probably take out the single models or so he will be paired up against.
Anyway please give me your thoughts!!!

Re: Dark Eldar Kill Team - First Try
is the agoniser worth it in kill team though? because he can't hide behind ablative wounds of a unit, he can get killed fast if he doesn't get wounds in quickly, I was thinking the 2+ on the VB was better than 4+ on the aggy

Re: Dark Eldar Kill Team - First Try
its debatable i guess. make them roll more dice compared to just negating the save. it would really come into effect in those scenarios where you see termies as its make them roll the invul instead.

Re: Dark Eldar Kill Team - First Try
good point. my thinking for termies though was just weight of fire. I mean I'll have around 10 DE vs 5 Tactical Termies (with no upgrades) or 5 assault termies. Both are exactly 200 points so they can't upgrade to better weapons. For them I think just weight of poisoned weapons fire should be ok, not to mention that I can kite them with the splinter cannons :P

Just out of interest, what rules are you using for the KT game?

Re: Dark Eldar Kill Team - First Try
So I don't want to necro a thread but I thought I would post up my results so far with the kill team. I played 2 1v1 kill team, 1 3 way, and one 4 way.
My final kill team was as follows: @ 198
9x Trueborn
Dracon w/ venom blade
4x Shardcarbines
2x Blasters
2x Splinter Cannons
So far the heavy hitters are the Splinter Cannons and the Dracon, both usually rack up loads of kills. Also the sheer weight of fire from the share carbines allows me to pick off sections of my opponents team at a time. Most of the dirty work happens from range, but I usually mange to get two Pain tokens a model before I charge in! I fought Eldar, Space Marines, and IG. If anyone wants to ask questions I'll try to help. I won 3 of the games and my buddies now want to all make DE kill teams and have Inter-Kabal warfare lol
